@T.E.D. Well, it seems I'm not the first to see that there's a problem with posting from "unregistered" accounts.
The reason given seems to be that "the value of one person happening by with some gold nugget of absolutely the right information you need vastly outweighs the cost of ongoing moderation of anonymous posts.".
I'm not sure that I'd agree.
Interestingly, you can't ask or answer a question on Meta as an unregistered user.
@sempaiscuba It's possible to turn off unregistered posting per site. If its becoming too much of a trouble, all we have to do is ask SE (via Meta) to flip the switch.
@T.E.D. Unfortunately, that's not the case anymore. Graduation does not guarantee a custom theme. There's a large backlog of graduated sites that still use the beta theme, minus the word beta in the site title.
Last month's announcement about our updated criteria for graduation and site closure sparked some solid examination into the intended nature of public beta and graduation.
One thing these discussions showed us is that, contrary to what the Community Team had long believed, getting a custom desig...
@yannis Ah yes, I remember that one now. Basically graduation is now something that's kind of rolled out piecemeal, rather than just plopped on a site all at once.
Again, we're probably on the order of 2 years from having to worry about it, unless current trends change, but its fun to dream about.
