I'm sorry for the offtopic question but does anybody know what's wrong with our 16x16 favicon?

The Super User favicon?

O___O

It reads "SL"

so apparently Super User is "SL" now. lol. nice catch!

8:02 PM
Super Luser? :P
2

Super Lusers?

If I zoom closer, it becomes the old one

Weird, it looks normal to me at normal zoom level

Yay! First star in a new room :)

Try a hard reload?

8:02 PM
@siikamiika ?

hard reload = Ctrl+F5

persists :/

what browser/OS and link? is this on stackexchange.com ?
or wait, it's probably on your profile page

Yeah, it's my profile page at japanese.SE
Firefox 54/linux

8:05 PM
The other icons are all wrong too, in your screenshot

-ENOREPRO on Chrome 60/Win10

No repro in either Firefox or Chrome on Win10

any JS console or network errors?
it might be defaulting to letters (though why not "SU"?!) if it gets a 404 or 500 or other abnormal HTTP code from the real icon

It looks like an off-by-one (or some other offset) in the spritesheet
Notice how the SO icon has an extra red line; I'm pretty sure that's the icon for one of the international versions

This also happens on chromium 59
If it's relevant I'm from Finland

8:09 PM
could it be a geographical thing?

The only error in console is blocking quant.js with adblocker
Anyway, 1. happens only with 16x16 sprites 2. FF 54/chromium 59 on linux 3. Finland

would it be loading higher res sprites on our systems for some reason?
the background-image property of the icon for me points to cdn.sstatic.net/Sites/japanese/all.css?v=99cf0dfa598a

What are the first few icons you see at the top of the spritesheet?
I see 3D Printing, Meta 3D Printing, Academia (books), its meta, AI, M.AI, "B", its meta, then Android and its meta

TS;CR (too small, can't read)

Missed the drama earlier because this laptop crashed on me.

8:15 PM
On Chrome you can click the tiny vertical strip to zoom to 100%

@bwDraco good; we're currently trying to figure out why Super User's favicon is loading as "SL" in a generic blue bubble for this guy in his profile

There appears to be an offset of 2

SVG drawing oddity?

Ohhhh I think I know what's going on

8:16 PM
Is the sprite sheet SVG or PNG?

png

There's a new Augur site launching, which will be near the top
I suspect the list of sprite positions has been updated to account for that, but the sheet itself hasn't yet

If the resolution is too low, rasterization can cause some pixels to be lost, especially if it isn't interpolated properly.

Though I don't know why none of us are getting the weirdness

8:17 PM
definitely looks like an off by one (or two?!) thing; the blue SL is two down from the SU one

CSS bug.

Augur just launched a few minutes ago
Or an hour, time zones are hard

@BenN Ahh that must be it :D

so can we blame CDN caching or something?

Yup

8:18 PM
sweet; problem solved
and it's off by two because meta.augur

Thanks all!

lol.

:D

so SU -> SL and meta.SU -> meta.SL

If anyone wants a very low user ID, now's your chance to get it

8:20 PM
lol
don't you have to get in to Augur via the A51 participation?
I didn't participate :S

You have to go through the A51 page, but anyone can join

oh!
well. I'm not going to join a site that's completely unrelated to anything I do... I'll probably wait for seltzerwaterdrinkers.stackexchange.com or macbookproowners.stackexchange.com or peoplewithfliesintheirhouse.stackexchange.com
that's not hugging, Inspirobot

x 1 :)

Nice! :)

8:23 PM
@BenN I already have 3.

8 years; WOW

This one is actually profound if you think about it for a bit

@BenN O_O wow

D:

I hope that's not the usage of that word I fear it might be
it's missing an "in"
comes in in the morning

8:25 PM
lewd

THAT'S deep

sends to her boyfriend

howdy folks

That's hilarious! Sometimes it gets it just right

8:32 PM

This is new

##caaat

The code is quite funny if read.

8:50 PM
@NotAdminDave lol :D is that from a TV show? there's Java, a matter-energy converter, time warp code based on DateTime, and apparently the actor using a live system and typing sdfsdfsdf...

yeah its from KungFury (its on youtube) and free to watch, its quite funny.

My friend thinks transferring 1 GB data to his SSD drive will permanently degrade the reading speed, even if I remove that data. If this is true, how many times would I have to transfer 1 GB of data to have any visible impact on performance?

also after a whole day I fixed my install issues with this pc

Yay!

disabling fastboot worked to get usb boot working, on rufus I had to pick UEFI only. Apparently this PC can't boot from MBR without CSM, and CSM didn't like the drive, so... in the end I got it working with UEFI and secure boot and everything.

Most important question in the world: Why does device setup appear when you plug devices you've already used 100 times and especially when you can use said device to close the popup, since it already works?

1 hour later…

morn

superuser.com/questions/1237099/how-to-pxe-boot-over-wan I find this ... kinda interesting and convoluted all at once.

@Bob morn morn
