I see now what threw me when looking at the meanings of "heroes" and "vanquishers" - the posting starts off telling us that "a new one is born every 2 weeks" but that's typically not true: the first twelve FTCs listed no winners at all, and of all those since only 5 times did the most-viewed and most-upvoted coincide. So I took the "new one" to be the challenge itself, not the challenge winner, as there's much more often than not more than one winner per fortnight. Makes more sense to me now.
I guess that's the downside of living in Japan... Everytime I post something during the day, it is the night in america/europe so it mostly gets ignored... For me it was monday, but for everyone else is was sunday night.

I have a standard comment I use when someone has added what is in essence a duplicate answer to a question. he did that, I did that, he sent me a comment (since deleted) basically saying "Why not add a duplicate answer, I've seen other people do it and sometimes you get away with it"
After the fact he got all snippy and now thinks I have a personal vendetta against him because I keep tripping over his answers that add nothing to questions that already have accepted answers. Whatever
He said that to me, yeah. I was like, well obviously then you're just doing it to hopefully snag rep, so I called him out on that somewhere and he really didn't like that ;)
@MOehm Oh, you caught the x? :-) Well, if you read each stanza, all of them speak about the missing letter :) In the case of a = b + c or c = d * x , its just an expression. The stanza already had letter "x" But, nice. I wanted to know the algorithm your brain follows ;)
@Techidiot You'll be disappointed by my brain. It was really just trying out some things that sprang to my mind and I got lucky with the lipogram. I hadn't noticed that the missing letter is the subject of the entry. (And I'm struggling to find the connection now. I can see eyes in the I paragraph, and north and soth, but no east and west in the first one, but that's it.)
@MOehm Yep right. The phrases didn't served as clues. It was just that I was trying to represent something about the missing letter. Like Mom, AM/PM for M, Great wall of china for G etc Nothing fancy as such
I thought that ends referred to the last letters and so I assumed that it had to be two words. That ends can mean the first and last is a blind spot that I have. (But even so, I was too slow.)
It would be easy to think about it, though: We have this saying here that everything has an end except a sausage, which has two ends.

@Sconibulus the answer to your CCCC is RIBBITS (croaks) = RIB (Eve's genesis) + BITS (measures entropy, kinda). I have to confess I'm not fully convinced by "measures entropy" -> BITS (maybe it's actually measures -> BIT + entropy -> S, but that seems worse). I mean, one measures entropy in bits, yes, but BITS doesn't mean "measures entropy", does it?
