@OliverSalzburg Can I be a remote minion? :D
@OliverSalzburg I feel like you need something to reinstall the .ico files :/
as it feels like they've been resaved with no alpha channel
maybe you ca edit them and add the alpha channel back yourself?

1:30 PM
yeah @OliverSalzburg are you hiring?

@djsmiley2k What can you offer? :) In general, we're not actively listing remote work as an option
@djsmiley2k Sounds like an idea. I would have to find them first though
@Burgi Yes

we can be part of your british division

I don't even know what we need right now. Feels like it's developers though

php ones?

Or DevOps
@Burgi JS preferably

1:33 PM
darn

check this out!
I have reported this same issue at least twice I think in the last year – my “For Follow Up” items suddenly increase. By this I mean I flag items for further action of which I usually have around 20. This morning the actual “For Follow Up” was in italics with no reported number next to it, so I clicked it and it then gave me almost 250 totally random messages.
If anyone can explain that :/
@OliverSalzburg I'm a awesome sysadmin and problem solver

But I mostly care about the "desire to code" and passion for the profession. Prior knowledge of technologies is a plus, but no requirement

@djsmiley2k PEBKAC

ooo I did devops once :P

i've never worked in devops before

1:34 PM
Also I've experience in mod elections!

do i need to know german?

I was the Ops part of DevOps
it was interesting

@Burgi It's beneficial in our office, but all documentation and whatnot is kept in English
In case I ever want to outsource to India, you know ;P

i can talk LOUDLY AND CLEARLY in english

Just as well :D

1:37 PM
i'm not sure i could afford to move to germany

I don't think our company is large enough yet to be attractive enough to justify moving to a different country

Dog
Oh hey British airways is down

you'll be surprised at how far you can get in sicily with 3 words of italian, clear english and gestures
> ciao ci gratis ciao
an entire conversation

@OliverSalzburg eww

1:52 PM
@DavidPostill isn't working
I just get Echo is off.
@Dog The... flight went down? :P

@JourneymanGeek Not really :P Although I am aware of all the options

@Burgi wait
I offered to relocate you to germany too
suddenly I'm wondering if @OliverSalzburg works with my irc going collegues...
Do you use gentoo at work @OliverSalzburg?
becausae you know, germany is such a small place, you obvs. know everyone

@Rahul2001 Hmm

@djsmiley2k No. Debian and Amazon Linux

@DavidPostill For testing you could just use rb.cmd which is basically echo postText=hi

1:59 PM
@OliverSalzburg I guess it's still possibly them xD

That's pretty much the output that I get

@Rahul2001 Then I've no idea why it's not working

@DavidPostill :(
@DavidPostill Hacked my way around it!

@Rahul2001 I can't get it to work using echo postText=hi either. However, it does work with set. I can't figure out why one works and not the other :/
This works:
@echo off
setlocal
for /f "delims== tokens=1,2" %%a in ('set') do (
  echo Value: %%b
  )
endlocal

rb.exe > par.txt
for /f "delims== tokens=1,2" %%G in (par.txt) do set %%G=%%H
echo %postText%

2:11 PM
44Mb at 50Kb/s :/
45838 KB at 50Kb/s
Anyone?

@DavidPostill Crappy hack, but works^

@djsmiley2k 130mb at 8KB/s, good ol' days
half an hour to an hour for a song.

@DavidPostill Please tell me that you're impressed :P

@Rahul2001 I'm impressed :)

Bob
2:13 PM
@djsmiley2k 19000 MB at 50 kB/s :(
@satibel ...130 MB is a pretty damn big song

@Bob nah, that's a program on emule.

130mb is album length...
.-.
emule?
Is that still a thing?

@JourneymanGeek limewire

@satibel duuuude
> Initial release May 3, 2000; 16 years ago

2:16 PM
@JourneymanGeek still exists, but it's like free prostitutes, the free infection is bundled.

Nothing in life is free
(also no details please. Rules on piracy apply still. ;p)

@JourneymanGeek gnutella and torrents are still a thing, I think that if you still have a copy, it might work.

oh, I'm aware of gnutella

@DavidPostill there's a problem... my hack takes too long to execute :(

and I do use torrents, and I think I've talked about my setup here before

2:21 PM
last update on the emule website is from January 2017, so it seems like it's alive.

@satibel dead
emule is alive, but I've never used it

@Rahul2001 What? It shouldn't take much longer ...

I was talking about limewire just because it was a thing years ago.

@DavidPostill Basically rb.exe takes input from a webpage via POST and echos it. For some reason whenever I add my hack, the browser sends the data twice, or even thrice
But originally it was getting sent only once

timeout?

2:24 PM
@satibel possibly probably

@Rahul2001 autoretry on timeout?

easy way: make a loopback serial com port by tying rx and tx together and use COMx instead of the file </sarcasm>
@Rahul2001
@echo off

SETLOCAL EnableDelayedExpansion
setlocal
for /f "delims== tokens=1,2" %%a in ('set') do (
  set _var=%%b
  echo !_var!
  )
endlocal
try this
nvm

@DavidPostill 3 edits, and I've stopped there

use tokens=* and %%a instead of %%b

as none of them were perticually productive other than removing dead tags..

Q: Table of contents use section header colors in Word 2010

Looking for Word adviceI am working in Word 2010. I have a large document for which I have created a table of contents. In my document I have used styles etc. After the document was completed there are some sections which I want to show with a different font color. It cannot be done via style changes as not a...

4:54 PM
why the fuck do i end up having to do our customer services agents job for them?

@Burgi Probably because you know how to do your job. Which is a rare skill

@OliverSalzburg How's come your name appears in italics? Are you not sitting straight at your keyboard?

@Twisty I'm a room owner
While I also own the room I am sitting in, in this case, it refers to this chat room

@OliverSalzburg <looks away wistfully> I owned a chat room once. It was before my modem was fast enough to browse that new-fangled "web".

Hello to all! :D

5:15 PM
@Twisty Was it glorious?

Chomp!

5:33 PM
@satibel hm?

@OliverSalzburg Yes, yes it was. "Those were the days."

Dog
@Rahul2001 No, the website.

hey guys, anybody here self-taught android?

8:29 PM
Yes
I figured all of Android out on my own

8:43 PM
I don't think we have any androids here... John Cavil is a Cylon, but I'm not sure if they count as androids.

9:06 PM
Got hit by a foul ball at the softball field during a softball photography assignment. Wound up with a contusion in my left middle finger but it's no biggie.

@OliverSalzburg hey, what did you use to get started?

10:07 PM
I HATE USERS.
IT would be great if it wasn't for users.

10:20 PM
> "Hi Michael. We have NZLT today and one of the items we are reviewing is folder security and PII. Can you provide a list of the folders in each directory and who has access to these folders."

@Skyler NO FELLOW HUMAN THERE ARE NO ROBOTS HERE BEEP BOP.

uhh.... If it's the folder I think they're talking about there is more than 10,000 folders in the root of that share.
Wait... no it's more than 20,000 folders.
Oh look, the number is still climbing.
Aaaaaaand they now want me to audit the "General" share as well.
Well I guess I will have results for them... next week some time.
okay... so how the heck do you review permissions on 52,000 folders? :|

@MichaelFrank Do Androids dream of Electric @Bob's? :)

10:54 PM
howdy anyone running cygwin here?
I'm trying to figure out the default shorcut so I can restore it on my w7 machine.

@William I am
@William Which shortcut?

64 or regular doesn't matter, the start menu one, the one to open a terminal

@William Target is C:\cygwin\bin\mintty.exe -i /Cygwin-Terminal.ico - - edit to suit your system.

thank you sir!

@William You are very welcome ;p

(blurb on firefox start page)

so why hasn't someone created a full webbrowser for linux terminal when there is both cursor and keyboard support? (well minus images and a couple other things)

library questions are of topic most places right?

@William you typically can't expect a mouse in many terminal only situations

@JourneymanGeek true but you could still create something better the lynx

11:06 PM
lol

aren't terminal width and heigth standard?

w3m isn't half bad
In theory, yes
in practice, not really

someone has done something similar just wish they didn't choose to use html to be the render language github.com/chjj/blessed

Wow okay. I almost had a heart attack... Clicking the "Remove selected members" button on our Distribution list management portal when you haven't selected any members gives you the following message:
> "All the members were removed."

uzbl also seems to have a frame buffer port

11:09 PM
that's crazy. probably slow as heck if sshing
how does it have image support?

framebuffer mode rather than traditional consoles
not sure if you can SSH that
lol
I might spin up a VM to test if I'm bored enough

if you can't ssh that it it defeats my purpose

well I have no idea ;p

@JourneymanGeek I think @Bob will disagree with you :)

11:16 PM
@JourneymanGeek It depends on which hemisphere you live in :)
The lunar phase or phase of the moon is the shape of the illuminated (sunlit) portion of the Moon as seen by an observer on Earth. The lunar phases change cyclically as the Moon orbits the Earth, according to the changing positions of the Moon and Sun relative to the Earth. The Moon's rotation is tidally locked by the Earth's gravity, therefore the same lunar surface always faces Earth. This face is variously sunlit depending on the position of the Moon in its orbit. Therefore, the portion of this hemisphere that is visible to an observer on Earth can vary from about 100% (full moon) to 0% (new...

i was thinking spawn a chrome process and then convert it to terminal commands

ah! I assumed you meant the screaming

@DavidPostill What does someone on the equator see?

netsurf must not be very popular something comes up for "netsurf browser"

11:25 PM
@MichaelFrank Good question. Ask @JourneymanGeek. Singapore is almost on the equator (1° 21' N, 103° 49' E.)

I don't remember off the top of my head ;p

@DavidPostill Yes, I suppose it matters if he's facing North or South as well.

@MichaelFrank It will be rotated 90 degrees according to the wiki article but I don't know in which direction.
> Nearer the Equator the Moon with its terminator will appear apparently horizontal during the morning and evening. Since the above descriptions of the lunar phases only apply at temperate or high latitudes and observers moving towards the Tropics from northern or southern latitudes will see the Moon rotated anti-clockwise or clockwise with respect to the images in this article. The crescent Moon can open upward or downward, with the "horns" of the crescent pointing up or down, respectively.
