Auto Layout is driving me nuts right now

!!/amiprivileged

@quartata Yes, you are a privileged user.

Oh so we didn't go that far back

12:54 AM
@quartata it's only back a few hours before it started stuffing up

Yes it's possible it got fucked
sorry i kinda randomly passed out
bo idea what happened the past couple hours
seone fill me in?

links are very likely potentially broken, but i'm still debugging. We can always revert all my changes, and I'll 'revert the revert' in a separate branch for debugging

1 hour ago, by ArtOfCode
I've rolled back Smokey - don't pull. Something's broken, but I have no idea what so we're back on last-known-good.

Links might be the only thing that's broken -- maybe Metasmoke chokes when fed a domain instead of an URL

1:01 AM
yeah... that's related to debugging. @angussidney want to do a mega revert commit for me, while I move all the changes to a separate branch?
The issue got a little bit bigger
@NobodyNada That's what I was working on when I passed out lol
hang on
i think i have that part fixed

@ThomasWard great!

if this doesn't fix it, I'll fire a massive revert, branch, and revert the revert in the branch LOL

CI on 52bae8b succeeded.

^ i fubar'd the Post object at one point
!!/pull

[ SmokeDetector ] SmokeDetector started at rev 52bae8b (Thomas Ward: Post URL property went away in Post object) (running on ArtOfCode/EC2)

1:06 AM
my apologies, if I hadn't passed out that wouldn't have happened :/

Was AFK for a second sorry, do you need me to do anything anymore?

like i was working on this and messaging my girlfriend on facebook... then i woke up with my phone stuck to my face and almost half-yelled "WTF" out loud
@angussidney nope, unless you want to take this here pipe and hit me with it because I broke Smokey oopsies.
@ArtOfCode pretty sure i know what was broken - post_url went away from the post object oops, so it broke some things.
I had to figure out WTF was broken and fix it.
stupid evils happen :)

@ThomasWard no worries, I'll reserve the pipe for later for when I actually need it :)

@ThomasWard :D

@ThomasWard that... does indeed sound like a source for some fun bugs

1:08 AM
@ArtOfCode we also had a few other bugs, such as post.question_id which should actually be post.post_id which i fixed
but the links not working part, that's entirely my fault in the post object.
there's really only two things that I don't have always in the object because I rely on init to decide if we need them...
... the 'answers' list of Post objects in the Post object... (not present in is_answer == True Post object instances)
... and the post_url, but I've changed that last one so it should work?
so now all we need is a post to fire off Smokey to see what happens now :P
@ArtOfCode again sorry about passing out, no idea why it happened but I guess it's just a case of my body needing rest

shrug my SSH keys are never too far away

also sorry if MS got some crap data at one point, when I was testing this in my answer testing script, there may have been crud submitted to MS
but i don't think it got that far, because I had none of the web sockets set up in the run, so it errors with NoneTypes, which're fine

is that what this was?

@ThomasWard 'Sorry I fell asleep, I know it's an unnatural occurence in humans, but I tried my best to avoid it'

@NobodyNada ah, yes, that's something i need cleaned up whoopsies

1:13 AM
No don't delete it yet please

@NobodyNada well at least we know THAT part was working lol

It's triggering some kind of weird layout bug in READi

@NobodyNada Well that may have something to do with the horridly invalid links the samples were passing
because it's using an old academia post and known 'spam', and a known 'deleted user' name but no URL because I don't have it
... and no link URL because said post doesn't exist
:)

@ThomasWard I don't think it does; I've just got some layout constraints all messed up.

ah.
well glad you discovered that, I'll have @Undo do some cleanup later then
Though, that's a perfect example of answer processing working to some extent

1:15 AM
@ThomasWard sorry about that

(chat messages were never issued because I didn't init sockets :P)

@ThomasWard Ahhh

@NobodyNada nah, no worries, at least there's some valid TPs there so we know things were detected proper
@NobodyNada yeah, custom answertest script, not part of Smokey core
nonexistent posts written by hand as dicts passed into Post objects and into the software
it's also how I know chat message content ;)
it's also how I know it's crap data
and i apologize for it :)

np :)

@angussidney Yeah, I guess, but it's like literal blackout I don't know what happened kind of passed out
not "I feel sleepy" and then fall asleep passed out o.O

1:19 AM
Anyway, no need to apologise for stuffing up, after all, if you don't stuff up after developing on production then I'd be thoroughly disapointed :P

lol
@QPaysTaxes "No because this person sucks, and needs to curl up under a rock"
loljk
nice to hear someone said "yes" to sending you up the interview line
truth

@Thomas Bug fixed; you can nuke those reports now

@NobodyNada already flagged for MS Admin attention
@ArtOfCode can you nuke the junk reports or do we wait for Undo or someone?

@ThomasWard we can't delete reports
You need DB access for that

so that'd be Undo then
meh, they're valid reports anyways, even if it's junk data
drifts back into the shadows and waits for posts to actually trigger Smokey actions
when is weekend spam hour again? :P
also greetings, @Undo

1:40 AM
whatdya need?

there's junk data in MS from my tests, that I'd love pruned if possible, but if not that's fine too.

jesus i need more coffee

Yep

i think i have an unopened iced coffee in the fridge
as for the rest of Smokey, I'm just waiting for something to trigger Smokey so we can see if I fixed links :P
'cause I had busted something whoops

No new errors

@SmokeDetector I might contest that that's non-Latin, but okay

the TLD names warning's not something I can fix lol, but at least it isn't dying yay
@Undo The core issue might be we return Unicode strings now
so we'd really have to test if we can convert from the unicode string to standard string and if that fails then contest it's not latin
@Undo this is the evil of Unicode.

1:47 AM
it can't possibly be more evil than how MySQL handles it

LOL
well at least I can put the try/excepts back in now that I got it working heh
the GOOD NEWS is it's looking at answers again
uhm why is it there three times o.O
oh that's an MS page autorefresh bug nevermind
@Undo I think that now that we use the Post structure and process as Unicode we might have some oddness in some of the filters for answers, as for the non-latin it may have been detecting "abnormal" characters
like _ as a nonlatin because it's just punctuation

So is this obsolete now?
2 hours ago, by ArtOfCode
I've rolled back Smokey - don't pull. Something's broken, but I have no idea what so we're back on last-known-good.

@Undo yes

great

@Undo I accidentally fubar'd the Post object ;)

1:51 AM
!!/rev

but was working on that right before passing out

!!/location

@quartata ArtOfCode/EC2

@Undo though if we start seeing links coming out as "NoLink" and such then we know link processing is borked again
but we shouldn't see that (that's just an obscure error case that I put in solely for the testing so it wouldn't crash)

1:52 AM
time for dinner; see you later!

@NobodyNada o/

@Undo apparently, yanking out the try/except pass items allowed us to expose more errors with answer post handling
which seemed to help "fix" answer processing
for now it'll raise errors as actual errors but that's something we can poke as we go.

Sounds good

if nothing dies in a few hours and i see more answer post items i'll go "yay" and then revert the change that introuced actual error crashes again as part of debugging
@Undo core problem was in handle_spam
post.question_id = AttributeError because it didnt' exist

ugh, BST

2:00 AM
post.post_id however seemed to work better :P
@ArtOfCode language.expand_acronym("BST")

@ThomasWard bullshit time

lolol

It should be 0200 right about now. But no, it's 0300. Thanks, BST, an hour less sleep is precisely what I needed.

2:10 AM
i feel sorry for you @ArtOfCode
maybe sleep is necessary now?
also is MS showing answer processing now?

too early to tell yet, and it's Sunday tomorrow

well I think it's all fixed :P
