Smokey is confused. This was a case of vandalism, but now it's 'just' a blacklisted user.

It was a blacklisted user, which isn't balcklisted anymore

Yeah we need to figure out what's going on with revisions
Is it pulling the why data from MS? That would explain it

@SmokeDetector have you smoked something?

Must have been smoking its socks

6:08 PM
they're the same post, right?
so it's only stored one set of why data for it

Yeah, that's what it is

LifeProTip #8661: Don't lose your CV file, it's a massive pain to write a new one and it means you have to looking for exam results that you know were terrible but can't quite recall how terrible.

I was wondering what's a closevote file until I realized you meant curriculum vitae.

signs you spend too much time on SE, #561
but hey, my stuff here can actually go in this application

Whatcha applying for?

Hah, that looks awesome

Good evening o/
Do you think this is spam? http://stackoverflow.com/a/43020311/4687348
I'm not sure because the post is about SEO, but the page (name of the user) seems to be about gambling

At the moment, it's just NAA.

ok. Thanks :-)

But I wouldn't be surprised when a spam link is edited in.

might count as abusive

Hey, @Undo, I've got one reference sorted, but they want two. Would you mind?

Hm, that's odd
Yeap, bug @NobodyNada.
Implemented a fix. You should be able to update in a minute...

Thanks!
Still errors; do I need to clear any caches or reinstall the script?

@JanDvorak I did; it's a different error this time

I can't really attest to your physical abilities, but otherwise it'd work

7:45 PM
aye, but I'm using Charcoal to point at teamworking ability

That works

I've got other experience that'll be more than enough testament to my ability to do the job

So
someone challenged me to solve a couple things on hackerrank

as in "have basically done this before just with different people"

I used this project on my thing. They seemed impressed.

7:46 PM
@ArtOfCode I can also attest to your teamworking ability if you want

@Magisch if they turn up here, that'd be awesome
dunno whether they'll use this or email

well, if the situation arises, feel free to use me as a reference if you want (you have my email adress)

When would I want to provide tpu- instead of tp- feedback?

tpu- blacklists the user, and tends to be more common

As in, when should you blacklist

7:48 PM
@Henders tpu also blacklists the user, so anytime it's actually spam

If it's not vandalism

tp- is for vandalism

Got it, thanks :)

@Magisch Nice, thanks

See this for how to get privileged and what that is

For privileges it says you need at least 300 reputation. lol. I have like 54k reputation. So that means I should be automatically upgraded to root access to the AWS instance this is running on right?
:-D

Well

@Henders They're per room

It also specifies being here for a while

@EricLeschinski Show-off

@M.A.R. Aye, thanks :) I didn't realise that the other day when art asked :P

I'm just joking around, what does being priviledged with SmokeDetector let you do? Suggest new spam keywords?

@EricLeschinski It lets you feedback to Smokey

It lets you feedback on things

8:09 PM
Those tpu's and stuff
To blacklist users also

anyone can create new spam filters on github, but they go through an approval process

But blacklisting keywords requires more powarz

ah. So the tpu's are a message to let Smokey know if it's decided correctly or not.

a pull request / merge that is

@EricLeschinski Precisely. The tp is 'yeah, you're right' and 'u' is 'blacklist this guy. Just in case filters don't catch the next post'

@EricLeschinski Meh, you qualify alright. We just need to ping @Art or @Undo to give you privileges
Never back down on a chance to ping @Art.
That annoying ping sound is at times a good punishment

I much prefer the SO ping sound. Sometimes I can't hear this one :p

Oh good, @DavidPostill is here. he can approve my two pending edits and then I can vote for him ;)

now comes for my ultimate question: did we finally get answer processing working again?

8:39 PM
shrug

@DavidPostill: My first vote is yours and I'm not changing it.

application submitted, so we see what they say about that
@ThomasWard Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it

blurgh

answer-type reasons are still reading 0 reports/day on metasmoke

we'll have to do better tracing then of how answer processing happens :/

8:41 PM
That's kind of scary to not be processing answers
Does an old revision work? If so, we may be able to do a "binary search"

@NobodyNada it's a bug we're working on

fortunately, the majority of spam is in questions, particularly the type of stuff we autoflag

@ArtOfCode can I remove the try/except's pass sections and issue a raise so we actually see the error in question?
to see where it actually dies off

shrug

i'd rather see error restarts than unhandled answers

8:43 PM
Debug away, whatever that necessitates

ah see I haven't tested the handle_spam part
I bet that has a problem and was being uncaught
@QPaysTaxes I know how to do exceptions, thanks.
Gotta see why it's exploding first
once we know that we can figure how to proceed, and I'm almost 100% certain it's something we forgot to edit in spamhandling or such

CI on f0d03e7 succeeded.

@QPaysTaxes We don't let it crash. However I'm not on an infra where I can load Overlord in a debugger
so I'm just going to let a crash happen temporarily to find the traceback points
that's just a debug commit we can revert of course.

how did that happen?

@JanDvorak i removed a try/except
intentional explodification
but now I know where to hunt next.

I mean, why did it try to parse "users" as a number

@JanDvorak that's not the error of import, it's the key error i'm worried about.
and i just put a code fix in that should prevent that
any other errors will be more important now

now to wait for answers to show up in the queue for testing.

@ArtOfCode Or the fact that people here know david and thus can make an informed asessment that he'd be a good mod

@Magisch nah, definitely corruption ;)

And there is no rule (that I know of) that prevents you from going to earn reputation specifically so that you can vote for a candidate you want, if your contributions aren't BS

@Henders :D

@NobodyNada What browser are you using?

8:55 PM
This is no different from someone registering to vote for the first time because there's a candidate they really want to win

@QPaysTaxes Obviously. Terrible people the lot of them

Not going to lie, if there's someone that I know will make a good mod running for election somewhere, I'll get rep there to vote for them
Even if I'm not usually a part of that community.

@ArtOfCode am I permitted to try and run my 'answer testing' script which tested the check_if_spam issues against handle_spam? More likely than not it'll explode but still

do you want a ban from somewhere, and me to beat you over the head with my actual socks (which are pretty damned stinky)?

Is there a way to tell if a post is a question or an answer with the Metasmoke API?

use the link

nice!
rendering HTML into a label or text view takes a long time and must be done on the main thread, which normally isn't a big deal
but when I have a table view containing lots of posts, then every time a new post scrolls into view, the scrolling freezes for a quarter of a second or so
which is really jarring, so I'm going to fetch the Markdown with the SE API and render that instead
@QPaysTaxes because the built-in API to do this needs WebKit, and it crashes if it's done in the background, for some reason
I thought about using a third-party API, but I decided this Markdown API would be easier, since I just have to copy one file and it's super-lightweight
Oh crud, that won't work for deleted posts
sigh...
I'll have to go with the HTML
