can't believe my parents decided to make a huge argument just because their drunk heads wanted a cake and bread for sandwiches and i bought then wrong bread
un fscking believable
i can't even have new year's eve without feeling worthless and alone
I just walked back from Safeway with dinner and a bus packed with people passed me heading downtown for festivities, music and fireworks. I went last year and wasn't planning on going this year but now... I'm feeling like a party pooper :(
I just tried to install 17.04...talk about "poopable"... during boot "Unknown error code 30" about 6 times.... 5 minutes of purple screen cycling dots and then drops to tty and asks for Ubuntu Login ID and password, which of course don't exist...LOL
About the only good news about this saga is CTRL+ALT+DEL works to reboot.
I tried to post this comment: "Using Conky it will report 1 or 2 running processes out of 300 or so almost all the time. But the other 298 aren't necessarily "sleeping" per sae they just aren't running. A true sleeping process would have issued the "sleep 999.99" command which is unknowable. Many of the other processes are Daemons waiting for an event to occur. Your question can be improved by explaining WHY you need to accomplish what you are asking."
@ByteCommander about the program. I think it might be possible to implement, but I think it would require you to be part of disks group. I'll try to play around with it, will see what alternatives there are.
I don't think it's worth posting a question yet, as I don't have any working solution, but it's up to you
People are really down on 2016 in this chat room. I thought 2016 was a bummer when my Windows 7 died, but then I installed Ubuntu 16.04 and found the great Q&A on AU. I discovered I could help out others too and a wonderful new hobby started up. So 2016 was a great year!
2016 was alright. It was more like roller-coaster , with whole lots of ups and downs. Best thing for me was that I went to China for the first time, and met my gf, and whole lot of other cool people.
Also the whole rep disaster and recovery thing. I kinda feel much better about it now. Although it took me more time to recover and gain more than I had, I actually have learned a lot in the process
And of course, python and indicators. That's like one of the coolest things I've done on AU so far
So, what's the tag plans for the new year guys ?
I think I'm gonna go into disk and hard-drive tags more. And security since Kaz apparently challenged me.
I still want my scripts silver, and later maybe gold. I'm not as concerned about it as I was about command-line
Oh I see a star above for 2016 not so bad... my hat is in the mail!!! thanks guys :)
Oh if you guys want to know, you get a hat for asking a question and answering it yourself. If the question gets three up votes and the answer gets three up votes you get the hat called "Egotistical Bastrd or something like that. I have my own Q&A with two votes on either side so I'm close: askubuntu.com/questions/866619/how-do-i-setup-keyboard-macros/…
Mobile Army Surgical Hospital... Russia has an airborne one in Syria just now.
35 people killed in Turkey at a night club celebrating New Years...That's what we should mourne is all the common poeple being slain not the celebrities who died of natural causes that profit by talking about common people sufferage.
@IanC I know what you mean.... many times I'm like "oh I could have answered that one" at the end of the work day when it was already answered 6 hours earlier.
@IanC "Love surfing, programming and chemistry (see the relation? me neither!)" I see the relation. You love surfing AU. In the process of programming you met @Serg and built a chemistry :)
Well you have 10 more points because I upvoted your only two questions which were pretty good. But you should post some answers in order to get more rep.
@IanC Here's the thing: some questions which are really easy to answer, most people will pass. Or they take time to research . Take for example this one: askubuntu.com/q/866505/295286 Within 12 hours it was posted, no-one tackled , even though it's awfully simple
You also can go through old questions and post your solution. That's what I do a lot
I dig up old questions and post alternative solutions with what I know: awk, python, maybe sed or look up how to do something in perl ( I'm not too proficient to write it from head yet). You can do same with Ruby
I think I'll do that, maybe use tags search to get a little more specific on the subject of the questions
Well, though I don't feel like sleeping after waking up to the sound of the sky blowing up, I gotta wake up in about 4 hours to go try to get the first surf of 2017 :)
Here's a trick Ian.... when a question has no answers, take the title, paste it in google search, strip out the extraneous words or reword them to be more meaningful and press Enter. If an answer pops up rewrite it into AU in simple English. 1/2 the time you'll get an upvote, 10% of the time you'll get accepted.
@Serg Let's turn Ask Ubuntu into "Ask Scripting Questions That Just Happen To Be On Ubuntu (And Should Probably Be Migrated To StackOverflow) And Dupevote Everything Else Because Literally Everything Else Has Already Been Asked"
You are saying "How can I find a file containing ABC" should be a duplicate of "How can I find a file containing XYZ" or "How can I find files > 1 MB" should be a duplicate of "How can I find files > 2 MB beginning with the letter A"
I might start with that for now and look at moving it to a NoSQL database later. I don't have much time left and I don't need to perform more than 1 write and 1 read I don't think.
@muru could we dupe this askubuntu.com/q/866619/295286 the other way around ? The suggested duplicate has answer that basically says "use autokey" but doesn't give no example. The one I linked is much better IMHO
@Seth Could you please merge the one i linked to muru above ^ and the one he posted as suggested duplicate ?
I am wondering whether or not I should spend night productively, or simply watch livestreams, or maybe drink a few shots of the whiskey I have still lying from November in my closet
Lagavulin distillery is an Islay single malt Scotch whisky distillery in Lagavulin on the island of Islay, Scotland.
The standard Lagavulin single malt is 16 years old (43%), though they regularly release a 12-year-old cask strength variety, a Distiller's edition finished in Pedro Ximénez casks, and 25- and 30-year-old varieties.
Lagavulin is produced by United Distillers & Vintners, which in turn is owned by Diageo plc. It is marketed under their Classic Malts brand.
The name of Lagavulin is an anglicization of the Gaelic lag a'mhuilin, meaning "hollow by the mill".

can't decide if i should take my good headphones to work tomorrow.
the thing is that my friend who has account on oneplus site had an offer, and she messaged me like " hey, do you want a phone ? i got a good deal on it". At the time i was using BLU , fairly cheap one, and my old samsung s3 got stolen. So i was like ok
@Anwar to be fair, that answer needs more explanation, but that's at least my opinion. Plus, question is tagged gnome-terminal and says "default Ubuntu terminal" , but Kubuntu uses konsole, not gnome-terminal
