@Oli P.S. That table is a little hard to read at 800x480 :)

What do those numbers mean?
My eyes glazed over at R|.

Oli
@GeorgeEdison Most things are a little hard to read at 800*400

12:14 AM
@Oli Rest assured that that is not my primary monitor.

Oli
Good - my phone does better than that!

Then you have a nice phone.

Why is CPU usage at 60% on my server...

Because your server is wishing you a Happy Valentines Day.

Oli
My last phone had a better resolution than that too (800*480)
@GeorgeEdison Don't ask us, ask htop!

12:15 AM
It's too busy sending valentine ecards to it's e-girlfriend.

12:35 AM
Anyone know where I can get an SVG of the Juju logo?
@JorgeCastro: Not sure who to contact, but design.canonical.com is using an expired security certificate.

Ensemble needs a logo and Abi has started working on some pencil/pastel sketches, and posted them to the Ensemble list:   https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/juju/2011-June/000199.html   https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/juju/2011-July/000202.html (split across the month end)   http://i55.tinypic.com/2r79af9.jpg (laptop fairy, colour)   http://i52.tinypic.com/34gaplh.jpg (power cube, colour)   http://i55.tinypic.com/ety2w7.jpg (power cube, colour, open sides)   http://i55.tinypic.com/zj8nl3.jpg (flying carpets, b/w)   http://i52.tinypic.com/33coqv7.jpg (Ubuntu UFO clouds, b/w)

jrg
@GeorgeEdison that looks like it has been expired for a long time.
which is odd, because I visited it last week and it was working.

They really should either fix it or disable HTTPS.
@jrg That is weird.

jrg
I don't remember that it had an SSL cert last time

12:38 AM
@GeorgeEdison Life is weird.

jrg
heck, google thinks its a normal http site.

lol

@jrg Yeah, but the link William provided contains a reference to the site... and uses HTTPS instead of HTTP.

Ouch.
Sorry, but not my fault.

jrg
Meh, its confused, so we can just agree on that?

12:40 AM
@jrg We sure can... on to the next issue:
Importing PDF logos into Blender.

jrg
@lkjoel WHOA. How're you?

Good and you @jrg?

jrg
I'm doing alright, thanks. :)

You can always convert the pdf to a jpg and import that.

12:41 AM
dang, I just cannot seem to spy on you! :P jk

@William Yeah, but that rasterizes the image.

any programming lately?

You. Got. Point.

jrg
Not as much as I'd like - been busy here on Ask Ubuntu, as well as trying to keep my 12.04 install from falling apart.

lol
same here

12:42 AM
Of Course! Now they star it!
4

I've got a few updates where 1300 packages were gonna be updated lol

jrg
Oh, if you have an ATI card don't update. i broke it, and re-installing now.

Why?
I have one
I update all of the time!
but I have the newest driver

jrg
I broke Precise with the latest Xorg update.

If your'e gonna star something star my cakebuntu.

12:44 AM
oh yeah, I know

jrg
Oh, you're using the proprietary drivers?

Don't dist-upgrade without checking which packages are gonna be removed!
Yeah

Yay!

jrg
I didn't remove any packages - I just have them installed in the right order. :P

@William Cool
Oh

jrg
12:44 AM
(and for precise i'm using the open source packages)

oh ok

HVD!

My card doesn't allow them
It's a VESA SUMO card
and X.org doesn't support it

Oli
@GeorgeEdison You've got it lucky. Reading PDFs is childsplay compared to writing one. If you can, just convert to a SVG (pdf2svg et al) and things become a lot easier.

have you ever tried Enlightenment?
lol @Oli

12:48 AM
Enlightenment is special.

in what way?

jrg
Can't say I have really tried it.
i've used it, but haven't used it extensively.

I'm making my first graphical C project in it: a taskbar

In the way that it looks odd compared to all other desktop enviroments. It's in a class of it's own.

jrg
Oh sweet!

12:50 AM
@lkjoel Cool!
wget needs a sibling: wput :)

jrg
just use cURL

cURL
Curl

1 hour later…
2:17 AM
Arg... why would the "Startup disk creator" would see a USB stick but not the blank CD in my drive?
Am I asking site questions in here again? :P

jrg
Because you need to use brasero for that. :P
no its perfectly ok
i wondered the same thing

Congrats by the way, @jrg!
@jrg Oh. And I already have that! I love Ubuntu. :)

jrg
Thanks, I'm still having a hard time believing it, but apparently its true :)
2
Oh great a serial starrer. ;D

@jrg And the problem would be? :P

jrg
other than "none"? :)
@John Yeah, the nice thing about Ubuntu is that if the tool it gives you doesn't do it, there is probably an alternative just a few clicks away, but for most of the everyday stuff its all there.
2

2:28 AM
@jrg I have noticed this. This has to be one of my favorite things about it.

@jrg ...or you can easily write one.

jrg
@GeorgeEdison that too.

2:40 AM
@JasperLoy Because we're awesome.

user19161
OK who is the starrer? Confess!

@JasperLoy I've contributed 2, but obviously, I didn't star myself.

user19161
I have a feeling it is the duck.

They'll run out of stars eventually.

(but not this one)
I have made a Meme room.

For all Meme lovers and enthusiasts. Post Ubuntu/Computer-Rela...
Oh Noes!

3:10 AM
That's... weird.

I... know.
Me goes back.

@JorgeCastro was that enough to start with? or are you looking for a fully compiled recipe/cookbook?
and happy valentines day to those who are observing the holiday
I however, am not unless you count putting out fresh kibble and petting the cat a dinner date

did you see my valentinebuntu cake?

nosir

BTW, please join Meme and help me build up the Meme database.

3:18 AM
Don't we have enough memes?

I'll have to pass @William. Maybe some other time.

Yes, enough to make a dedicated room.
I think there should be a set room for Memes.
Look at the starred messages sometime.

3:37 AM
What if I want to just star something and not pin it?

@William You can't pin anything.
Only mods can pin messages.

II mean in my own room.
I just want to regular star something and not pin it.

@William Just star it then.
It shouldn't be pinned unless you explicitly pin it.

Doesnt give me the option

4:21 AM
@JorgeCastro: Around?
I guess it's dumb to ask if anyone's around on Valentine's Day :P

I am.

\o/
I'm in the middle of writing it... but thoughts are welcome :)

Charm builder should point to the charm create syntax, as that'll always be the best starting point

Charm create?
You mean there's a built-in command that does the same thing as my tool...?

yeah, charm create

4:26 AM
...and I just wasted the last 30 minutes? :)

Does charm create generate the config.yaml file, though?
If not, then maybe this tool has value after all.

It does
it creates everything you need to get started, if you place a package name, like apache2, in the third parameter it'll prefill the config.yaml file with the package meta data

Hmmm... thinks about whether the site has any value...
I even took the time to look up the Ubuntu Design Guidelines :(
I guess I will just abandon it for the moment - maybe I'll think of something to do with it later.

hi
how can i see my inbox here ?
i got 1 message but if i click it redirect to stackexchange without any message

Yes, < 10% of eligible people voted

Don't ask me why.

Why? :)

Don't ask me why.
Hey, maybe my Juju Charm Builder can tie into charm create.

4:50 AM

It might need to be rewritten.

Oneric Ocelot with upgrades
@jokerdino Wait a sec, Ill try on firefox

Dude!

6:50 AM
@jokerdino link me to the answer

@AmithKK To try it on Firefox you need to use a different page.

I can get it to work in Chrome. My question is how to get it to work in Firefrox.

I'll find it for you...
Ah, here it is:
You need to use a valid image URL in the last field.

Nope. Nothing.

No, I meant @AmithKK.

6:52 AM
Oh ok then.

Test me

@AmithKK Ping!!

@AmithKK Test you.

But the ping shouldn't work on Firefox.
...only the test page I gave you.

Fail

6:54 AM
@AmithKK Well, it works once you install a UserScript.

Hrm... odd.
I gotta run now.
Night all.

Good night!

What is the test for?

Neat

That is a simple blur with lens flare
Very minimalistic like

Make godzilla eat the rubycasts text and have a gigantic ruby smash him to bits and call it a day

I think you can utilize lazypower's expertise in this then.

or put bacon on it
bacon trumps everything

8:01 AM
@lazyPower Can I haz good ruby logo

Dude!

Is that appropriate? :D

It is if you've forgotten how to use google :D
Ok I admit it, I'm a hater.

8:08 AM
LOL, ;)

I have no problem with a little joke :D

Little more Gem goodness

Your gif is lagging my browser. pfft

Sorry
That didnt come out right

8:26 AM
@AmithKK keep the ruby upright after the lensflair
looks out of place falling back over, having it rotate to be on point is a nice effect - sustain that through the end of the animation.

I got An idea

Dude!

Ruby: Meh

Jrg: RUUUUUUU..
Ruby: Rotates back
Jrg: Good

@OctavianDamiean i brought myself to review 20 posts today :D

8:52 AM
Nice!
Keep it up.

I heard you were sick?

@OctavianDamiean Feeling better?

It's alright, this is what happens if you don't take care of your body.
Well it is getting better.

@JorgeCastro I have noticed that both the Dutch and the Portuguese LoCo teams sites do not have any mention to Ask Ubuntu in any way. Since Ask Ubuntu it the way and has the stamp of approval from Canonical should go and I introduce a push for AU to be included as a support option or that is entirely up to them?

8:57 AM
I'm not Jorge but I can answer it. Hell yea! Do it! :)
Ultimately it is up to them but if you can get them to advertise AU, it is a win.

Does anybody here know how to do alias permanently from bash?

@OctavianDamiean /me nods

@AmithKK You add them to your .bashrc

@OctavianDamiean I need a command :D

It is the standard alias command. ;)

8:59 AM
Good morning @OctavianDamiean, are you the one I had discussion about how we're connected in G+ when we don't know each other with?

Gotta run. Back in a while.
@Gigili Huh?
I guess no. At least I can't remember. :)
I'll get back to you in a bit.

Good morning to everyone else as well.

Not me either.

@OctavianDamiean Aha, okay.

Is it Stefano that you are talking about? :))

A: How to remove old kernel versions automatically?

Amith KKThis is possible by using this command after the kernel install dpkg -l 'linux-*' | sed '/^ii/!d;/'"$(uname -r | sed "s/\(.*\)-\([^0-9]\+\)/\1/")"'/d;s/^[^ ]* [^ ]* \([^ ]*\).*/\1/;/[0-9]/!d' | xargs sudo apt-get -y purge source: http://tuxtweaks.com/2009/12/remove-old-kernels-in-ubuntu/
