@DanielFischer: Can moderators still see the "flag weight" of a user?

3:38 PM
@AsafKaragila No, only the software and people with database access can. Why?

@DanielFischer Oh, just wondering.

@AsafKaragila What your current flag weight is?

@DanielFischer Yeah.

It's over 9000! (Well, actually, not really.)

@DanielFischer I know it's not over 9000. If I recall correctly, the limit is 750.
And the closer you get, the harder it is to climb up; yet every declination is -10.

3:42 PM
I know. Just an old meme.

Or at least that's how things were back at the day where Deputy and Marshal badges were given by weight.

Yep, needed 749 for Marshal. I was sooo close to that on SO when it was changed.

@DanielFischer I was also fairly close.
I don't remember exactly how much, but somewhere around 740 sounds reasonable. I remember calculating that I needed about 100 helpful flags without rejected ones.

And then it was changed to 500 helpful flags and lots of badges were awarded at once.

Then they did another revamp to the flagging system, and suddenly even more people got it.
@DanielFischer: Can you please rename the tag to ? Doing it manually requires removing the tag, waiting, then reinstating it. It seems like a hassle for a tag that it's not entirely clear is worth preserving. I guess that renaming a tag should be easy peasy for a moderator, though.

3:53 PM
@AsafKaragila Not so easy. Create new tag, and then either re-tag questions, or make a synonym and merge. Thing is that ordinary users can't create a tag that similar to an existing one, so a moderator is needed.

@DanielFischer Oh. I see. Then never mind. I guess we'll tackle this when the jury comes back with a decision about this tag.

@AsafKaragila Okay. If the tag stays, and there are more questions then, it's definitely synonym + merge. For only six questions, re-tagging is not worse (the tag synonym page is yuck).

@DanielFischer Oh, I agree.

4:16 PM
Ok, since I created the problem, I'll go ahead and do it. The question have already been bumped one more bump will not hurt.
So I'll remove from all questions now.

@MartinSleziak It's fine, this can wait a couple of days for a bit more input.

@AsafKaragila I think it has to be done sooner or later anyway.
If the decision is to remove the tag, we will retag all of them.
If the decision is to keep and pluralize, we will retag them.

Okay.

I guess I will only be allowed to create tomorrow. (After singular is out of system.) I will be more careful and tag less questions this time.
Although bumping 6 questions is probably not going to cause uproar.

@MartinSleziak I guess that in this aspect we can utilize @DanielFischer's ultramegadiamondsuperpowers.

4:22 PM
Ok, I have removed it from the 6 questions.

@DanielFischer: We need your powers now.

The system does not allow me to create now. "You are attempting to create the tag [well-orders]; however the tag [well-order] already exists! If you think this new tag should be allowed, raise it on meta."
Even if the mods can't do anything about that, unless somebody uses this tag today, I will created the new tag tomorrow (and edit meta post to link to the pluralized version.)

@MartinSleziak "Thing is that ordinary users can't create a tag that similar to an existing one, so a moderator is needed." - Daniel Fischer.

Yes. Or ordinary user can do it, but in that case they'll have to wait. So as I said, if the mods (in this case Daniel Fischer) don't do it, then I can do it tomorrow.

So moderators can do something about it.

4:30 PM
Either way, we will eventually get to the pluralized version. (Either now with help mods oir tomorrow even without diamonds.) However, main question is whether bumping the post on meta will cause some users to give some feedback on the new tag.
BTW I liked the comment with: It's just my "automatic opinion" to start with a negative bias towards new tags.

:)
I think it's a good approach to tagging nowadays.
We have plenty of tags, the system is generally misused anyway. So it's a good idea to start with "I don't think so" and be convinced otherwise.

In this case I still think that this tag might be useful. (Either as a standalone or as a synonym. Synonym would still help users to tag their question correctly.) Of course, if some kind of consensus will be reached and it will show that other users disagree with this, I will follow the majority opinion.
But since the meta question was dormant for a long time, creating a tag was a possible excuse for bumping it and bringing a bit attention to this issue again.

Oh god, there's a soccer match at the edge of town, and I can hear the entire stadium.
Apparently the local team is leading.

5:17 PM
@Asaf I live about 0.3 km from from the local high school, and so I'm a captive audience to Thursday evening junior varsity (American) football, Friday night varsity (American) football games; and virtually every day, of the North High marching band's three-hour practice sessions (they're nationally ranked, so the music can be enjoyable...to a point!)

@amWhy Yeah, but the stadium is roughly 5-7km from here. Even a couple years ago, when the stadium was in the middle of the city (about the same distance, though), I used to hear these.
I mean, I'm used to hearing trains when it's 3am and everything is quiet (the tracks are quite far away). But this is plain annoying.
The noise is gone. Apparently the local team had a penalty kick and scored a second goal. Which explains all the commotion.

@AsafKaragila Hey...I'm with you on that!

Anyway. Time to be ever so slightly more productive.

@MartinSleziak exists now.

Thanks @DanielFischer
I have removed one of my comments there. And flagged @Asaf's comment "Maybe moderator can rename it" as obsolete - since it has already been done.
The comments are archived here in chat anyway.
There are perhaps three more comments which are related to pluralization, but they also carry some additional information (such as other possible names). So maybe those can stay even after the tag was changed to plural.
I see that Asaf's comment I flagged is already deleted. Whether it was deleted by Asaf or by Daniel - thanks for that!
