I really want to find something else fantasy to read but nothing has been really catching my interest

1:09 PM
@Wipqozn I think I know what you picked.

@StrixVaria Yup. A book by some unknown upcoming author. I hear he's a super rad dude.

Let me just say this:

Also, google being able to create epub files is pretty rad. Although it doesn't create chapters or anything, which seems to be since kobo wants a kepub or something, aka a kobo one. aka I might be googling on how to make one of those.

Disclaimer for anyone who I didn't send a copy of my book to: A lot more people signed up than I expected and I want to keep the number of readers down at the start. If I start looking for more readers, people who already signed up will be first.
So I can link to that later if necessary.
@Wipqozn I didn't follow most of this, but I'm glad it's possible to import to an ereader.
Even if it doesn't have chapter bookmarks or whatever, it does save your spot still, right?
So you don't have to sit there scrolling through each time you open it up.

@StrixVaria Not sure about kindle, but on Kobo it'll have chapter divisions, and have stats like "X time left for this chapter". Looks like it only does that if it's a special king of "kobo" epub file.
@StrixVaria yup

1:15 PM
@Wipqozn Oh, I haven't even heard of the word "kobo" before right now.

@StrixVaria oh yeah. They mostly exist in Canada. Bigger than Kindle in Canada, actually.

Interesting.
I have a kindle but I think I read Words of Radiance on my phone actually.

@StrixVaria What a rebel

I know I've read at least a few things on my phone.

And I didn't realize it, but epub files are just some kind of bastardized HTML.

1:16 PM
Eh, as long as it renders fine.

yeah, it has text.I can turn pages. I can read.
Easier than needing to read on my PC or phone.

Yeah, reading on a PC is the worst.

as soon as I saw "export as epub" I was like "I love you google".
I'm assuming that feature was just some side project by a google dev

Probably.
I've started a super rough outline of book 2 as well. I know the overall plot points that have to happen, but need to figure out the order and the details.

@StrixVaria Is it planned to be a trilogy?

1:23 PM
@Wipqozn It is, and I already know the super end.

@StrixVaria Awesome.

So hopefully it winds up being like Sanderson's where things actually build and resolve.

Just don't pull a GRRM and go from 3 books, to 4, to wait no 5 actually...to lol yolo :P

I don't see that happening.

@StrixVaria It's always nice when things resolve

1:24 PM
I have very, very clear cutoff points for each book.

but yeah so far I'm enjoying it. I finished chapter 1 last night. I actually wanted to read more, but it was late. If I find things I dislike I'll make sure to let you know, but so far I don't have any complaints. I'm enjoying it.

Cool beans, so far my wife's feedback has been the harshest :P

haha I bet
That doesn't surprise me at all. A spouse is usually the one willing to be the most honest.

I haven't started your book yet, @StrixVaria, but if I can make it into an epub, that's awesome because I read most of my stuff on my ereader.

@Ash I don't know how to, but @Wipqozn figured it out so it should be pretty easy.

@StrixVaria It's just one of the options when you go to download it. Listed right at the bottom.

Neat.

Perfect. :)
