@andrew.46 I struggled a lot on the day jokerdino took issue with it, and I thought I would go on struggling, but I committed myself to letting go, and I am almost there :)
loophole: I think it is OK to ask OP to accept on behalf of someone else - terdon does that all the time, and what a mod does is surely always Right by the letter of the law
@Zanna The most interesting new feature of breaking 10K in AU (which you are fast approaching) is the ability to vote on question deletion. Nice to have a hand in clearing away some of the AU cruft :)
Hi, I have a user that keeps using offensive and disrespectful language minutes or seconds after flagging and removing the offending comment: askubuntu.com/q/821658/175814. Is there any mechanism in place that enforces some kind of ban or penalty if someone accumulates too many flags like that? Or does that require moderator intervention?
@andrew.46 How did he offend African Americans? He offended black people, not Americans specifically. Anyway, don't worry, we'll deal with his small minded, bigotted posterior.
:) my brother: these days I only ever turn on my computer to code me: So, that being the case, and afaik you are using Atom and Eclipse, why are you still using Windows? my brother: you're right, I'm switching to Linux this weekend
I get these amazing tofu sausages from a brand called Taifun - they do frankfurter style and they are unbelieveably delicious. I've fed them to plenty of omnivores and everyone loves them
@ByteCommander how is this done "You can. If you behave that way there as well, you'll experience the same ban though. You can also get your IP banned."
@Jodamo117: sure. they can also get a new IP address from their provider by reconnecting. but very few people put that much effort into annoying groups strangers over the internet. Since it takes a lot more time to do that than ban an account, we should be good as long as we have at least as many active mods than people like that.
@Serg - I made a typo previously, the answer was updated to reflect the problem Pavel reported. :-) (This comment will self-destruct in 30 minutes.) — FooF29 mins ago
Comments are dangerous . . . they self-destruct now
@Zanna It is because it would be hard to support a combinatorily explosive amount of custom kernel. Who knows with what flags and modules they were compiled and which patch you need for out-of-tree kernel modules to work.
@DavidFoerster I get the argument, but I'm asking because I'm confused. I saw a question involving use of a mainline kernel & I was told it was not off-topic
@Zacharee1 I feel the same way about roughly half of the songs in pop charts. So I wouldn't blame it on Youtube but on people liking badly written music.
@Arronical In my personal experience one needs to get accustomed to most styles of music before you can learn to enjoy them. As a tween I couldn't stand metal and growling. Now it's one of my favourites. Similar with being able to stand techno/dance music (though I still find most of that boring too).
@Jodamo117 Depends. Music can really help me get in the mood to do work or to stay focused on something. Yes, it's distracting itself but it's still better than turning my head at every sound made by colleagues/flatmates. White noise or rain sounds can help with that too.
