[ SmokeDetector ] Offensive answer detected: Default USB MTP for Android 6.0 by Daphné Poirier on android.stackexchange.com (@AndrewT.)

sd tp-

@SmokeDetector naa-

@hichris123 I added the tp as I regarded it as borderline positive on the abuse, I would normally flag that as abusive, but I know you guys are more lenient if it's not directed at a user.

I think most mods would decline an offensive flag on that. It certainly wouldn't be given the 100 rep penalty, an instance of profanity isn't offensive.
Not really. Frustrated people have a tendency to write like that. :)

I find it unacceptable.
totally agree. Particularly when members of this room are jumped on for any discourse that is perceived to be rude, yet it's ok for people to rant and swear on the sites?

1:08 AM
But it's not directed at a person. It's not hate speech. It's just someone mad about Android updates (which frankly, is almost everyone :)).
> Even if a post is a bad post for some reason or another, it is probably not offensive. The Offensive flag is meant to be used only in extreme cases, like hate speech, abuse against people, or abuse of the system.
173
A: What are the spam and offensive flags, and how do they work?

KipWhat makes something spam and when should I flag it? A post should be marked as spam ONLY when it contains an unsolicited advertisement. It should NOT be marked as spam when: The answer contains no useful information, such as an answer that says "I don't care about your problem". Flag an answ...

@BrockAdams ^^ fyi and so we can then have a chat about the youth of today lol

@QPaysTaxes That's referring to stuff like metasmoke.erwaysoftware.com/post/32478.
Well they are... and this is the problem of moderation, it's really hard to lay down specific rules for specific times. But just because there's profanity, that doesn't mean a post is offensive.

I see the difference you are making @hichris123, and it is a clear line. I guess what we are meaning is the user of profanity is unacceptable fullstop. So it's a grey area of what some consider acceptable
@QPaysTaxes yeh the op is using profanity to express frustration, but I still think it's wrong

@Yvette It also differs from site to site, like English Language & Usage allows profanity most of the time, because it's an academic context, except when it's clear that the profanity isn't contributing to the post/isn't needed.
@QPaysTaxes Yeah, that's more borderline. I personally wouldn't offensive flag that, but I probably wouldn't decline an offensive flag on it.

@hichris123 yep, as it might be part of a question
meh I put in a suggested edit and left a comment, mind you it's naa and should be deleted anyway
@QPaysTaxes ninja'd you again ;)

@QPaysTaxes LOL
meh I'm old and some bad things will be happening to me soon, iirc from socvr LOLOL
when people abuse people, like that MS you linked above @hichris123 "use you brain @$#% etc" I always think that's a reflection of that person and how they have failed to use their own brain. I find the irony mildly amusing.

1:47 AM
@Yvette Don't have time to chat, but that is a CW post, so you can add the prohibition on Carlin's 7 words... ;)
