My grandma lived in the village of Narodichi, which is part of the exclusion zone now.

@CowperKettle I was in Narodichi. I took soil samples there.

The trees lost all leaves after that.

That's sad.

But the leaves came back in the next year.

But the radioactive particles then just dropped with the dead leaves on the ground.

The decontaminators must've removed them.

They're both very very very very weak acids, so that difference in pKa isn't surprising.

I'm interested whence this trend is.

The most important of all is the stability of the conjugate base.

HI is a stronger acid than HF because I- is pretty happy with its charge.

It's a gigantic anion and charge density isn't that much troubling.

So when we deprotonate ethyne, it's happier to exist as an anion than a deprotonated ethene.

ethane has just one sigma bond between carbons.. so...

Decide hybridization by geometry for simple molecules.

Tetrahedral -> sp^3

Trigonal -> sp^2

Linear -> sp

Ethane is tetrahedral, so Sp3
