"This question is off-topic as it appears to be a mathematics problem, as opposed to a mathematical puzzle. For more info, see "Are math-textbook-style problems on topic?" on meta."
why do i even bother?

@xnor Review audits are automatically picked, and sometimes aren't selected correctly. Don't worry about it; it's not a huge deal.

I've closed the question, which makes it ineligible to be an audit in the future.
thanks, i don't care about the review failure, it's just confirmation that my efforts to clean things like this up are wasted when things like this are considered good questions
I'm Stéphane, a senior product designer at Stack Exchange. First, I wanted to announce that this site is now starting the process of moving out of beta to become a fully-graduated site!
Congratulations!
Graduation and Your Site Design
Graduation comes with a few perks, which should come out...
the only problem I have with the ?? is (beside the fact that they look generic) that they don't give a good indication of what site it is if you don't already know.

Which is, a little ironic, I think. (If, still pretty unhelpful.)
I've also been temp-banned from reviewing due to decisions that couldn't have gone through without another person's approval and yet the other person wasn't banned from reviewing
Yeah - this one seemed like a bit of a scam, too. It gave a post that (in reality) earned tons of up-votes due to the poster's rep and told me it was a first-time poster. I reviewed it as a first-time poster, as I was asked to do.
yeah, that's the thing: you aren't actually supposed to review the thing on its own merits - you're supposed to correctly guess how the people who spend the most time reviewing posts would review it
This question is part of the best-puzzle award series.
What are your nominations for the best puzzles, here on Puzzling.SE, of the fourth quarter (Jan/ Feb / Mar) 2016?
Suggested guidelines for nomination:
Nominate each individual puzzle in a separate answer, so they can be upvoted/down...
and it's not a coincidence that the venn diagram of people who spend a lot of time reviewing posts overlaps with people who would have upvoted/prevented from closing a post from a longtime user
there are meta discussions about this where people have been like "uh, I gave honest reviews but I got banned from reviewing because I happened not to agree with the others" and the response has been "shut up or get off the site, whiner"
so, you know, [world's biggest shrugging emoticon]\
again, the idea is that this is a community-run site; the reality is that the bulk of the decisions are really made by a small group of like-minded longtimers
you guys think it's okay if I post a SE-themed metapuzzle as an answer to the graduation post? I know it isn't normally supposed to be there but I wasn't sure if the Q&A format was less strict for the [discussion] meta tag
(I can add the solution in too if that would help)
a metapuzzle is a puzzle using single words or phrases (usually from other puzzles) where you have to figure out how to assemble them to derive a solution word or phrase
Ah - Sounds interesting - though I think a question like that, for a regular puzzle, was turned down the other day - let me see if I can find it to see if this is what you mean.
It's not like the "treasure hunt" though - this one's fully self contained and the "puzzles" that make it up are just crossword style clues with enumerations
@Khale_Kitha Reviews were designed for Stack Overflow, which has a different set of problems than smaller sites. In particular, there are tons of posts where almost everyone can agree on an action.
I'm actually not sure why we have review audits on Puzzling:
What is the purpose of this test?
The test (known as a review audit) is designed to help new reviewers hone their moderation skills, while nudging more experienced users that don't seem to be paying close attention to what they're reviewing. Some people were in the habit of up-voting everything ...
If they are causing more problems than they are worth, we can turn them off here.
@JonEricson One thing I'll say, while I'm thinking about it, is: if we're going to be held to our reviews, it would be nice to be able to leave a note if, say, we disagreed with a vote to close or something similar.
@question_asker I can see how this would be an attractive feature and, if we ever went back to look at them, it might be helpful to tuning audits. The trouble, though, is I'm not sure many people would read those notes.
