My only stipulation is that the spawn is centered on the map center. That's not exactly necessary, but I like the idea that your crosshairs first start on the center.

I was thinking basically clean it up a bit, then reflect it over the spawn point creating the plateau. Then build up the neck of the volcano

I can't join tonight, but maybe Wednesday.

The Acacia tree right in the middle is basically where spawn is.

How are you already in the world? I thought the server hadn't been set up yet.

Ocean's not too far away, which is good, and there's a mixed forest very close by, which is also good.

Will there be significant development around the spawn or will it be a little ways out like with the previous world?

Can we plan a Nether hub that's a big room (possibly multiple stories) with branches off it that lead to people's rail tracks connecting to their respective Nether portals?

Why does it take 8 hits with iron to kill zombies? I had to disconnect because I was about to die fighting a single zombie

@Eridan There's a cooldown for weapons now, so if you spam hit it's not that effective

There's a video option to bring the cooldown timer on screen

There's something funny about these trees.....can't put my finger on it...

The map wall has begun! This is the front view, which you see upon spawning for the first time. The map is 1-1 scale, where each pixel is a block.

Two angles of the backside, where the maps have been zoomed out three times, which means that each pixel is 8x8 blocks.

@El'endiaStarman Do we really want to map the world before we build stuff on it? Or will a more in-detail map room be created of the spawn town after that comes into existence?

I propose that we reserve (A) the entire top of the plateau spawn is on, and (B) the entire plains area from these cobble corners to the plateau as a community area for community builds. i.e. things that everyone can use and help build/improve. No personal houses or things that you don't want other people potentially changing.

I dunno how far you've marked out, but I think you could probably go a decent bit further (how many community buildings are planned roughly anyway?)

@Sp3000 Not sure, but I'd be ok with making it bigger too. Like all the way from the plateau to Phi's hook mountain. A long, decently wide strip.

I'd suggest making it slightly more irregular, so as not to look like a giant square of a community hub. It might be more aesthetically pleasing that way.

@HelkaHomba True, but that's easily remedied.

@Eridan I can easily put off making the 1-1 scale map until later, but the 8-1 scale map on the back is huge. Phi's mountain is about a third of the way from the edge that spawn is right next to. THAT one I can extend without worrying too much.

Currently the "fastest" way is to download each file one by one, which is what I'm doing. It's rather the "slowest" one...

i re joined the server and it seems ok

I'm designating the entire top of the spawn plateau and this section of land (^ marked in temporary cobble) as community land. Everyone is encouraged to help develop it with [auto]farms and roads and such, but personal homes or bases should be outside this area. Everyone can use the stuff in community areas and rebuild/modify them as necessary. If anyone has concerns about this, I'm open to discussion.

Redstone is more plentiful than iron at that depth, which is weird. :P

Also, a line of small houses within this area is not out of the question, I'm just trying to avoid a cluttered spawn like last time.

Well, maybe it does work horizontally, and the MC gamepedia just doesn't show it.

@El'endiaStarman (cc @quartata) What if we make sure that the spawn base has decent-sized private rooms for everyone? Then no one will feel the need to build another small house right near spawn (and of course they can make as big a house as they want away from spawn)
