We're sooooooo close to 2.5 q:a
but if that's true, a 97 answer question? cheater :P

10:07 PM
lol
we'll have lots more users soon though so it will make more sense :P
superuser is migrating a lot of questions now, seems it's becoming off-topic
which i assume is going to make our user base start increasing heavily

hello @calavera @VxJasonxV
....and @KyleCronin

hello @garikapati

quick question - do I have to remove any preference files etc.. after deleting an app folder, when I want to uninstall the app

you don't have to - leaving them doesn't do any harm
and it can be helpful to retain them if you want to install the app in the future

@KyleCronin would there be any cache/ other settings still be there.. other than ~/Applications folder

10:37 PM
a well-behaved application should only put stuff in /Library and/or ~/Library, usually under Application Support
of course, an app could in theory write to anywhere in your home directory without needing permission, and if you gave it your password it could write anywhere in the system
but most of the time just removing the application from the /Applications folder will be sufficient

I removed the quicksilver app folder from ~/Applications and installed new version of it, but I am unable to launch it
not sure why.... I am guessing the OLD settings are still out there...
If it's safe to remove them from 'Application Support' folder, then I can remove and try installing it again..

yeah, as long as you don't mind losing some app settings, deleting Quicksilver from ~/Library/Application Support is fine

k thx. once I am home I can try it
at workplace I use windowz XP ;-)

if you have a laptop, just bring it to work

yes, mine is MBP.. but my client don't allow to bring personal stuff

10:50 PM
that's too bad. if I couldn't bring my MBP to work I don't know what I'd do

:-)
leter @everyone ..

So, as a apple.se mod, can you pull questions from other sites?
or do you have to be an $otherSite mod and push to apple.se?

you have to be mod on the other site
so ya, it's push, not pull

figured
And why did Diago delete my comment and answer it? ... sigh
that link syntax would be pretty awesome if it didn't just abbreviate it, but did something like: site:nice-question-text

it seems like some mods disagree

/me goes to meta.so...

@VxJasonxV: while you're there, tell them to make apple off-topic on superuser :P
