@TonyMeyer @OghmaOsiris - FInding it hard to make it through China Mieville's "Embassytown". Urg. If anyone else has read this and wants to review it, go ahead. Will give the book one final effort, then move onto the new "I, Robot" novel next.
Also, I have a ton of old blog posts I've pulled offline on my blog because they weren't so well-written, with a good amount of sci-fi reviews of older books. I could punch those up and repost them on the SF&F blog. Would anyone want to read about older books?

@NeilFein do you like Miéville usually? What didn't you like about Embassytown?
A blog post saying you didn't like it would be good, but not so much if you didn't finish the book

@Gilles The ideas are great, but the book is somewhat uneven. The characters are less interesting than in his other stuff.
Usually his characters are flawed and people whose lives are ones I'm glad I don't have, but I'm on edge to find out what happens to them. In this case... still interesting, but not enough to keep me reading avidly.
That's why perhaps someone else could do this one better.

@NeilFein the eight deadly words :(

Just flipped through a lot of reviews of the book. I only skimmed them, since I'm maybe 2/3 of the way through the book, but the general opinion seems to be that it's a good book, very nice. Nothing exuberant like there was for "Perdido Street Station" or the other Bas-Lag books.
