Q: jQuery edit content of li element

Vasyl PylypivI'm making simple todo list with jQuery and am stuck with a problem on how to correctly edit the content of an li element by double clicking. I wrote a function, but it doesn't work properly. 'Delete' button after editing transfrom to simple text. Here is my JS code: function addListItem() { ...

Q: Trying to implement a list in C++. It isn't displaying. Why?

user75689Title says it all. Program isn't crashing but it doesnt work either. Any suggestions? #include using namespace std; struct node{ node * next; int data; }; struct lisst{ node * head; }; void addToList(lisst * & l,int x) { node * tmp = new node; tmp->data = x; tmp->next = l->...

Chaos dealt with, @rolfl?

yup.
Don't feed the trolls..
don't be a troll.
soft delete.
If you're going to rage quit over this...

Breaks can be good sometimes. Especially on cars.

those are brakes.... ;-)
That's smart, but if you delete your posts just because, I will likely undelete them too.
There's a process for suspending people who vandalize the saite, including by deleting their own content.

If you really want less temptation, a mod can probably suspend you so that you can't do anything with your profile. Deleting posts like that, even your own, is considered vandalism.
For the first, I don't mean in a punishing way at all. It's an alternative to dealing with vandalism.
It's up to you. Also, if you ever need to speak to a moderator privately regarding site-related matters, you can request that.

5:09 PM
Note that, after suspending your main-=site accout, your chat priviliges may/will be affected too.

I'll try to handle it, @rolfl. I haven't done a suspension before.

@QPaysTaxes Don't.
So? Don't log in. I can learn you how to block SE from your PC if you're interested.
Just don't delete stuff. It's vandalism.
The moment you post something, it's no longer yours.
Much better.
@QPaysTaxes /salute

Bye @QPaysTaxes. Gonna miss you for three days :,(
But, but, nooooooo
Well, I guess, good luck with your finals, and, well, see you in three days. :)
I'm bored now

@EthanBierlein then code something!

^^

5:23 PM
In a little bit. There are spaceships to fly though.
I'm trying to teach my friend how to play KSP over skype.
Ah, screw it. I need to work on Cactus anyways. I can teach my friend later. Or he can watch me code over skype.

lol

Of course since Skype is a mess of code put together by unpaid MS interns, it might be a disgrace to do that.

Use a badly coded thing to show others a better coded thing. Cynical, isn't it.

Hmm, yeah.

@Phrancis Whatever works.

5:28 PM
Turns out if you type http://: into a skype message it'll trash the your installation, and the installation of the user you're sending the message to. xD

still waiting for a star on "lol"...

wat?
Oh. okay

Dude, if you don't want to be on SE, just close this tab in your browser
3

Well, you do have many accounts that are over 20 rep, maybe you want a network-wide suspension?

There, easy enough :)
@EthanBierlein Is that real? ...???

5:31 PM
Yeah, I heard @nicael got one.
I think his actually just ended.
I'm pretty sure he got banned for exploiting the network, e.g, getting more rep, etc.

I believe it was for affect others' rep.

Yeah.

@EthanBierlein Does typing http://: into a Skype message really break it for both users?
Or is it some urban legend?

I know it's slashdot, but there's a link there to the skype forums confirming it.

Skype developers need a bit more regex in their life.

5:35 PM
Ugh, regex.
I refuse!

Skype developers need less interns.

regex is good for some things, definitely not that many. But character matching is one of them

Isn't that what it's only used for?

Precisely
/(http://:)/g
If they removed that^ it would just post an empty message, I wager

5:53 PM
Oh dear. I just crashed Notepad++

:o

Any santas here that can spare a vote? I almost have necromancer on this one.

A: SimCity clone performance

Ethan BierleinAs you asked in your question, I'm going to try and address your performance issues here. Some of this will be a style review though, so bear with me. Style First off, no offense, but this code looks, not so great. You have many major style issues, so here's a list of some of the major ones ...

Nobody? Oh well.

i wish that guy had posted a screenshot of his city game

Ooh yay! Thanks santas!

6:07 PM
I like me a nice shiny silver badge.
Silver badges are underrated.

@Phrancis Cannot agree more. There's no better suspension than pure self-control.

@EthanBierlein I love silver badges :)
Bronze badges are like, "Eh!", and Gold badges are like "Ugh!", Silver badges sit nicely in the middle :)

lol
Arg. Orbital rendezvous are so difficult.
Even with a mod to help.

Q: If possible I want to optimize PDO handling function

iCoReafter moving from mysql_ to PDO I created PDO handling function. Basically this function takes parameters, checks them and returns end result. The thing is that I created this ~1 year ago and haven't really optimized it and after looking at it again I wanted to see if I can improve it somehow, bu...

6:31 PM
Are there any C# gurus around? I have a small question.

I'm not a guru, but go ahead

Okay, so I have a directory structure of my C# files like this.
/Source
	file1.cs <- In namespace "Game"
	/Engine
		file2.cs <- In namespace "GameEngine"
How can I obtain the contents of the namespace GameEngine from file1.cs using a using directive?

I never learned about namespaces (shitty school program)

Heh lol.

I though that everything was an object :/
Yes, I have broken c# knowledge

6:36 PM
Me too. That's why I'm asking xD

The most advanced thing I've ever done was a tiny program that would write the character values in a PNG file
1 pixel per byte
and it has an option that would save its own source code.

@EthanBierlein the file system and the namespaces don't necessarily match.
It's best practice to do so, but they don't have to. So, Mu.

Mu?

@RubberDuck Ah, so the directory /Engine should be renamed to /GameEngine?

Q: pair in a class initializer list?

dylanWhy am I not able to initialize my dimensions pair in my grid class. template<class type>class grid{ public: grid(int row, int col) : dimensions.first = row, dimensions.second = col{ matrix.assign(dimensions.first,std::vector<type>(dimensions.second)); }; grid(std::pair<int,...

6:41 PM
@Phrancis "Unask the question". It's not the right one.

@RubberDuck Also, would that mean I would have to do using Engine.GameEngine; if I didn't rename the directory?

@EthanBierlein yes, but that has no effect on importing the file.

Ah, okay. Thank you :)

I don't know, because I don't know what your namespaces actually look like.
But, if I had to guess, try using Game.GameEngine

Hmm, well, okay. I'm gonna try something.
Hmm. I'm gonna go look at some C# repos and see if I can figure this out on my own.

6:53 PM
@EthanBierlein That's the moon, not a C# repo
3

A moon. In a distant, procedurally generated galaxy.

It actually does look a bit more like a space station...
or perhaps it's a planet, you never know these days...

@SimonAndréForsberg Sharp.

It's a warm ocean moon.
See all those little dots. Those are galaxies. Have I made you feel small yet?

No
Show me the universe
Then I might feel small

6:57 PM

Still not enough

See all those tiny little dots. Again, those are galaxies, not stars.

. <-- See that dor?
*dot

Yeah, I do

The universe is so far away that that is the only thing you see

6:58 PM
@IsmaelMiguel Wouldn't you start seeing multiple universes at that point?

How is the universe "far away"? We're in it right now.

@Mast Has that been proven?
@EthanBierlein That's a loop

@IsmaelMiguel Can you proof it's wrong?

@Mast That's a falacy

@IsmaelMiguel No, that's how many theories in academics work.

7:00 PM
@Mast I'm not academic

Neither am I, but I've worked in that area before. It's a nice place to be.

I like space.

I never worked on that area
But, I have something for you:

Seriously, if I don't do a career in CS, I'm totally going into the space stuff.

We were born too early to explore the space

7:04 PM
I wish my neighbours would stop abusing their kid for just a few hours

How am I supposed to focus

@JeroenVannevel Oh jeez. Call the police man.
Or social services.

And add sirens to the noise?
No thanks.

*them

7:05 PM
Uhm, no.
threats or suggestions of violence are not permitted here.
Move on.

Fine, go there and drop choco-bombs

And candy.
Make them happy.

And cherry bombs

SPREAD HAPPINESS

In bread

7:07 PM
@JeroenVannevel Ask them over for a beer.

And don't have them invite their kid.

Why would I invite the noise in my den of rest

There, happiness in bread

These are horrible suggestions

7:08 PM
@JeroenVannevel Fine then, put them to sleep with anesthetic for a couple of hours.

Or just suck it up

3 mins ago, by rolfl
threats or suggestions of violence are not permitted here.

I have neighbors that shoot off fireworks every friday night around 12.

How is that bad?

7:10 PM
Because they aren't wimpy little sparklers. These guys live right next door and they're shooting off large fireworks.
Wow, I can't believe I'm actually doing what I'm doing right now!
I'm writing quality C# code!
@rolfl Hey, this user posted the exact same question twice. Once here, and then reposted it again without any changes here.

Q: Data formatting using string spanning

RobertI would like to know how to make my code better. I'm still a newbie in Android, so any tips are appreciated. The code is an AsyncTask class extender that formats data into a nice looking Spannable String. It works, but it's quite slow, even if ran on a background thread. //SlideContentType is a...

7:43 PM
Dang, finally unblocked

Kinda quiet in here.

Because I was blocked out

It's Saturday.

(suspended)
Because I said to fill it with lead

I don't get it. On weekends during the day everyone is dead silent, but in the middle of the night on a tuesday everyone is jumping to talk here.
It doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

7:45 PM
Because people are either sleeping or going outside or putting up with family

Ah, whatever, human behavior is illogical.

Couldn't agree any more

> or going outside
lol

There's people who go outside, you now?
Yes, I though it was too old-fashioned

What the hell is a delegate

7:49 PM
But I'm amazed that people still do that!
@EthanBierlein No idea

lol ikr

@EthanBierlein That's a pretty wide concept
And I hardly understand it myself

Oh, that's okay. I was just looking at MSDN's style guide for C# and I saw the delegate keyword or type or whatever.

delegates form the basis for method references, lambda expressions and events
Typically you won't have to use the delegate keyword yourself but it'll be hidden underneath a prettier layer

Arg. Translating an entire project into a completely different language, built on a different framework is the most annoying thing ever.
Python to C# is especially annoying.

Q: Am I using abusing AngularJS's functionality?

AR7I read this article that I really liked and wanted to implement the ideas it had. It basically says don't use $scope or ng-controller; instead, use directives with templates that get their angular magic from the directive's controller. Like this angular.module('myAppContestantList', []) .dire...

OK.

It's so quiet. Again
@Hosch250 I changed mine too :D

Yeah, I saw.
You've not been around as long as Jamal, though.
Oh, @Jamal, have you graduated?

God. Finding sites that look like they have legitimate font downloads is hard.

@EthanBierlein What font do you need?

@IsmaelMiguel A good-looking fantasy font with a free to use commercially license.

like the disney font?

No, think lord of the rings.

That one probably will be expencive AF

9:21 PM
Yeah, I found some sites, but all the licenses are for non-commercial use.

That's expected

Ah forget it. Time to go for cheap retro fonts.
