Kaboooom!

This needs a cooler name. The Agora?

The Pantheon

6:13 PM
@Piper I like Agora.

6:32 PM
Well, it was the Ancient equivalent of a chatroom ;)

7:16 PM
WE DID IT!
@Piper The Agora would be much cooler.

@Piper Personally, I would prefer something more mythos-neutral. The site is going to be heavily Greco-Roman/Norse already (just for demographic reasons), so I would rather not name the primary chatroom something mythos-specific.
Not that this is anything that needs to be decided on soon or anything.

7:31 PM
I did initially hesitate to suggest it for that reason, and would love something more neutral since my mythos of choice is Sumerian, but I couldn't think of anything that was both non-Greco-centric AND not some obscure reference.
@YoungGuilo YAY. I'm pretty happy, I've been eyeing this one for a while. I'm really happy it's reached beta! As in, refreshed the Area 51 page daily since it fulfilled the commitment :o

Whee my first meta argument

@durron597 Are you talking about your Trojan War question?

@Piper Yea

Q: Are questions about the relationship between History and Mythology on topic?

durron597So I asked this question: Why did the Trojan War really happen? Clearly, the Trojan War and the Iliad in particular are squarely within the realm of Greek mythology. However, my question is about the relationship between the Mythology and actual history. Questions clearly must have some sort of...

What are other people's opinions on sources? I've noticed a lot of questions (and answers) with no sources, which doesn't seem like a good practice. meta.mythology.stackexchange.com/questions/18/…
I think even worse is when people link to wikipedia articles, instead of actual stories.

Hellow :)

@Christofian Agree that sources are hugely important (cf. meta.mythology.stackexchange.com/a/5). I don't know if you've been through any private betas, but the whole Wikipedia-answer thing is something that happens in basically every early-stage private beta until some actual experts show up and start posting good answers.

@senshin Thank you. I have committed to sites before, but I've never participated in a beta.

Okay .. the stack's on Engage mode.

@Christofian Now we just have to hope that experts actually show up...

9:01 PM
@senshin Hows this for an expert answer: mythology.stackexchange.com/questions/74/…
(written by me)

@Christofian I don't know anything about Welsh myth, but it looks pretty solid to me.

@senshin In Islamic theology jinn are said to be creatures with free will, made from smokeless fire by Allah as humans were made of clay, among other things.
smokeless fire? Means they can take on any shape they like (?)

9:26 PM
@Piper Agora is taken. It's the Politics.SE main chat room.

Well damn.
Now what?

I actually like @iyrin's suggestion of "The Pantheon" quite a bit.

9:44 PM
@senshin u there ?

9:56 PM

Whoohoo! Good timing on my part! :P

11:55 PM
i missed it huh
Agora is definitely apropos. I just thought Pantheon is cooler because then Mythology geeks can identify with the gods :D
btw will the site be going to beta now? Is that correct?
