When somebody is around who knows something about Windows, perhaps they would consider taking a look at tex.stackexchange.com/questions/211582/…? (TL 2014 on Windows cannot compile beamer presentation. Code is fine. Other docs are fine. beamer installed etc.)

Good maen again...

@ChristianHupfer Quack.

@tohecz: Did you find some German speaking person?
@PauloCereda: Oh my, the ducktator ;-) Good morning to Brazil ;-)

@ChristianHupfer 'ello. :)

@PauloCereda: I suppose with the help of egreg you have your new songbook code already finished and uploaded to CTAN? ;-)

I had to downvote a question. :(

9:00 AM
@ChristianHupfer Not yet. :)
@egreg Oh no. :(

@egreg: Which one?

9:18 AM
@cfr Must be a dodgy install

@JosephWright Or it's Windows in itself. :)

@PauloCereda did you buy a new house?

@DavidCarlisle Nope. Why? :)

Just saw the headline and wondered

@DavidCarlisle Ah. :) Safra is a banker. :)

9:50 AM
@DavidCarlisle Chris continues to keep me busy :-)

10:23 AM
Hi. Does fancy header package work for book style?

@EnthusiasticStudent Book class you mean?

@EnthusiasticStudent: Yes, it works

I am not sure
I try to redefine the headers using:
`\renewcommand{\chaptermark}[1]{\markboth{\thechapter\ #1}{}}
\renewcommand{\sectionmark}[1]{\markright{\thesection\ #1}}

\fancyhead{} % clear all header fields
\fancyhead[RO]{\thepage\hspace*[1cm]\leftmark}
\fancyhead[LE]{\thepage\hspace*[1cm]\rightmark}
%\fancyhead[RO,LE]{\thepage}
%\fancyhead[LO]{\leftmark}
%\fancyhead[RE]{\rightmark}
\fancyfoot{} % clear all footer fields`
but nothing happens...
except omitting the chapter separator mark

@EnthusiasticStudent We need more info than that. :) Perhaps a full MWE. :)

10:30 AM
@EnthusiasticStudent: I am pretending to be Johannes_B: Use KOMA 'scrbook' instead, you won't need fancyhdr in most cases then

@PauloCereda
\documentclass{book}

\usepackage[leqno]{amsmath}
\usepackage[toc]{glossaries}
\usepackage[toc,page,titletoc,title]{appendix}
\usepackage{cite}
\usepackage{bibentry}
\usepackage{enumitem}
\usepackage[nottoc]{tocbibind}
\usepackage{makeidx}
\usepackage{mdframed}
\usepackage[
paperheight =297mm, paperwidth =210mm,
layoutheight =197mm, layoutwidth =130mm,
layoutvoffset= 50mm, layouthoffset= 40mm,
margin =0mm, includeheadfoot, nofoot,
%showframe=true,
showcrop=true]{geometry}
\usepackage[a4,cam,center]{crop}
@ChristianHupfer scrbook is better than book style?

@EnthusiasticStudent: 'better' is a matter of taste... I actually meant scrpage2or the new scrpage -layer or something similar

I have just received an envelope from Canada; inside there was the USB key I lost on the train a couple of months ago. :)

@egreg congratulations :)

@EnthusiasticStudent Quite a travel! I guess the guy who found it was going back to Canada, so he waited to be home for investigating. It was where I stored my LaTeX course and exam certificates, so it was possible to find me. These are things that light up a day!

10:42 AM
@egreg In my usb flash or cool keys, I always have a text file or pdf file in which I have written my contact information such as my phone number and my email. In such cases, the person who finds my tool can easily contact me.

@EnthusiasticStudent That's a very good idea!

@PauloCereda Did you see my MWE?
So how should I modify my book's headers? :(

11:03 AM
@EnthusiasticStudent \hspace*[1cm] wrong sort of brackets

@egreg Really? That's awesome!
@egreg: He saw the source code of your documents and immediately knew it was you. Tanquam ex ungue leonem. :)

11:17 AM
@DavidCarlisle Nicely put on the team list :-)

@JosephWright started to answer your earlier comment here, but hmm decided to move to email;-)
@JosephWright new luatex....

@DavidCarlisle Yes: several of the log bugs we found are listed as fixed
@DavidCarlisle Will require updated test files once it hits TL

11:34 AM
@DavidCarlisle having that \hspace or not; I can not modify my headers at all.

12:04 PM
@EnthusiasticStudent what pagestyle are you using

12:28 PM
@DavidCarlisle Book style. This is my MWE: chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/18561046#18561046

@EnthusiasticStudent no pagestyle as in \pagestyle{headings} etc

@DavidCarlisle I think I don't have such a thing...

1:04 PM
@EnthusiasticStudent yes, you don't, see my comment to my answer ;)

@tohecz Should I add it in the preamble?

@EnthusiasticStudent yep, as I did in the answer

@EnthusiasticStudent if you want headings...

@tohecz It worked! Thanks...

@EnthusiasticStudent yw

1:08 PM
@DavidCarlisle what?
@tohecz Does it add a space to the header content?
an indent?

@EnthusiasticStudent I'm not sure I know what you mean, it does nothing special, just puts some material into the header, check the documentation of fancyhdr

Happy 45th birthday, Sesame Street!

@tohecz I think by having such code, some white space is added at the right side of the OR heading.

@EnthusiasticStudent well, it should not add anything there
now apologize me, I gotta rush

ok. thank you. :)

2:56 PM
@DavidCarlisle What is the key for putting part title in the header of the page? I tried \part but it did not work

3:25 PM
@EnthusiasticStudent I am not sure about @david, but i would need a bit more infor.

3:49 PM
ooh I have some biscuits!

@EnthusiasticStudent you need to redefine \part (or use a package that does it for you) book.cls definition of \part does \markboth{}{}% to clear the headings the headings are assumed to just show chapter and section
@PauloCereda I have 1000 of them

@DavidCarlisle That's so unfair. :)

4:08 PM
@PauloCereda Call the Cookie Monster!

@egreg ooh! :) I'm feeling nostalgic today, I'll watch Follow that bird. There's a memorable scene where Cookie Monster eats a whole VW Beetle. :)

4:28 PM
@Johannes_B have you experience with \bookmarksetup?

@EnthusiasticStudent None, sorry.

@Johannes_B thank you...

Can those be considered as answers?

A: Figure environment not working with included file (extra } or forgotten endgroup)

SchroederI encountered a problem with seemingly identical symptoms and solved it by updating setspace.sty from a 1990 version to version 6.7a (dated Dec. 2000). Then run sudo texhash in that directory.

@Johannes_B No, comments at best

@JosephWright Are you taking action?

4:39 PM
@Johannes_B Yes

@JosephWright Thanks.

2 hours later…
6:36 PM
@DavidCarlisle Are you around?
@egreg Are you around?

I'm around. :)

Hi @PauloCereda
I guess i'll wait till tomorrow, it is late and the cafeteria closes in a few minutes.

@Johannes_B Hi!

6:57 PM
@PeterGrill I saw your correction, but I was referring to the OP's picture; I agree it wasn't clear. Fixed.

@egreg Oh I see...

@PeterGrill One can spot Xy-pic from the hook arrow, which has always been horrible.

@Johannes_B no

@egreg So, where in Canada were you?

@PeterGrill the bit just south of Austria

7:00 PM
@DavidCarlisle :-)

@DavidCarlisle Getting a bit annoyed?

Wondering if you geography is so bad due to the lack of colorful trees there as we do in North America
@JosephWright Oppps, looks like I am out of the loop here... Also, have to go to, sorry to start a conversation and then leave...

@JosephWright Good evening :) Have a look here: tex.aspcode.net/view/635399273629833626220066/…. Your answer got copied, but the scraping site doesn't follow SE's license terms. I have just reported that via this procedure.

@PeterGrill Don't worry: it relates to something else!
@ComFreek One for the Powers

@JosephWright No just stating the obvious. firmly:-)

7:06 PM
@PeterGrill No, I was in Italy. The guy who found my key was on the train after me and got back to Canada where he sent me the key from.

@DavidCarlisle :-)

@SeanAllred: you've been recruted.

@JosephWright user Vafa Karen-Pahlav has requested all of his/her accounts to be merged; the request was made in a comment: tex.stackexchange.com/questions/47801/…, so I thought about pinging you so the request receives some attention.

@GonzaloMedina Only the Powers can do it: I'll leave a comment

@JosephWright Thanks.

7:37 PM
@PauloCereda ?
GitHub? Reading it now... :: the compile rule you mention?

@SeanAllred Yep. :)
Welcome to the world of tomorrow! to the team. :)
@egreg: ^^ a true hero. :)

@SeanAllred LOL it became my start page. :)

I couldn't resist. I hope I will be forgiven...
I'm desparate to find my PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS sign. Rotating equations is a very bad idea. The equation is supposed to be a part of some text, how would this fit in? You would put it on a separate page? Or what? I can't imagine how this can ever look reasonable. — tohecz 5 mins ago

3 hours later…
10:42 PM
Oh my, Pink Floyd has released a new album!

11:36 PM
@PauloCereda That's appalling!

@egreg Why?

@FaheemMitha Just to tease @PauloCereda

@egreg Ah

@FaheemMitha @egreg doesn't believe in music post 1066 (or some such cut off date) so a 1970's rock band is too modern for him

@egreg Stephen Hawking is also on the new album as a contributor.

11:43 PM
@DavidCarlisle Hopefully not 1066.

@PauloCereda That band should change its name. That's not really Pink Floyd.

That would exclude pretty much everybody.

@DavidCarlisle The cut off is a bit later, actually. I didn't know there were rock bands in the Seventies.

@egreg That means you weren't in Pompei smoking pot when they released the Live in Pompei video.

@percusse Hahaha! He was in the volcano eruption (according to David).

11:46 PM
@GonzaloMedina This one!

Waiting for @DavidCarlisle to mention @egreg to see people al..... @GonzaloMedina :)
we have too many clever people here heheh

@percusse That Pompei work is a master piece, in my opinion, by the way.

To put it in context
@GonzaloMedina Instead I was there but in 2000s. ;)
With iPod sitting in the middle of the arena

@percusse I envy you!
That and listening to Asturias and Recuerdos de la Alhambra in La Alhambra (Spain) are two of my dreams that I expect to fulfill one day.

@GonzaloMedina Then I shouldn't mention my stay in Granada for two weeks :P

11:52 PM
@percusse Yes, you probably shouldn't :)

@GonzaloMedina My short term plan is doing this; youtube.com/watch?v=z48hzyUzID4
@GonzaloMedina Then finishing my Python toolbox... felt kind of weird when put in this order
By the way, German friends; I'll be in Köln for Christmas Market with a van full of friends. If you are around let me know :)

@percusse The first item seems cool! No idea about the second one; sounds useful, so it surely is boring :P

@GonzaloMedina I'm building one of the Matlab toolboxes from scratch and purely in Python. Recently started to get significant feedback so I got a motivation boost.
Namely, control systems toolbox and robust control toolbox. It IS boring
