@ChrisWhite I've been thinking about adding the tag, but going through so many questions involving it seems a daunting task to me
taking Einstein’s Relativity to be in essence accepted by a significant portion of the physics community....this made me laugh

Given the stackexchange definition that “Mainstream physics is physics which has been accepted by a significant portion of the physics community”, and taking Einstein’s Relativity to be in essence accepted by a significant portion of the physics community. And, accepting that “a question that p...

@KyleKanos It's a bold assumption ;)
Also, is this guy asking anything other than: Why do we think there's time?
Aaaaaaaaaaaand I just rejected an edit introducing the world ass multiple times into a post. Just wtf, people, wtf...

@ACuriousMind I probably should have deleted that portion too
And I did

@JohnRennie - here's some clarification regarding that edit which (apparently) left you fuming. It doesn't matter now, since the question is on hold, but anyways. I first edited the tags and made minor edits to the post, and submitted the edit. Then, in less than two minutes, decided to add that link and resubmitted, believing that it would add to my previous edit.
Unfortunately, between these two events, the OP of the question approved my edit no. 1, something I'd just not imagined.
So, what you came across (link only) wasn't my full edit to that post.

@New_new_newbie That's not John fuming, that's the default reject message for no improvement whatsoever. The new reject messages are somewhat...harsher than the old ones.

@ACuriousMind - Oh.
They really are. :)
And I thought, what happened to the mild-mannered and always-so-politically-correct John :)

Haha, completely understandable. I don't like the wording of the new reject reasons much, I must say

Haha :) Somehow, that was my edited post no. 80, so this entertainment adds to the Strunk and White badge.
The Q is on hold, so even if it is struck off, the badge will stay. Yay! (Another cheerful note to end this chat sojourn.) Cya' @ACuriousMind.

@New_new_newbie No offence was meant - the SE have changed the reject reasons to be excessively aggressive IMHO. Amongst the previous reasons was "too minor", which really mans you shouldn't be editing a post for minor cosmetic reasons. This is what I really meant (assuming I'm thinking of the right edit).
Maybe minor edits are now encouraged ...

@JohnRennie They say "the system" will sort them out automatically. That even edits that change more than ten characters (or whatever the threshold is) can be too minor is apparently not an issue. If we feel strongly about rejecting an edit and no canned reason fits (or is too harsh), I think Shog9 is encouraging using the causes harm field like the old custom field towards the end of the official MSO post

Bah. Losing rep due to someone leaving is annoying

Ah, you too?

Just 20
So it's not a big deal
But it's just annoying

@KyleKanos I just lost 40 points! How dare they leave!

Agreed! Just leave your account active and move on your merry life!

@KyleKanos Egad. Now the SE won't let me score more than 175 because it's including the 40 points I got deducted in the daily score (200 + 1 accept). No fair! :-)

@JohnRennie I'd say the intention was to make them direct, so that it's clear to people making these edits why they shouldn't be doing so. Aggressiveness is a side effect.

@JohnRennie That's a shame

@JohnRennie and on that point: the idea all along was that edits which don't improve a post should be rejected. "too minor" referred not to the number of characters changed, but to the level of improvement made to the post, and that wasn't clear to people. That's why it was renamed, to clarify that.

@ACuriousMind hey :), so your semester has begun right? first impression?

@Phonon They need to start telling me stuff I don't already know :P All the lectures I've had so far were just revisions of material from prior courses...
But at least the lecturers seem nice

aha :) cool

String Theory and Theory of the Standard Model, with a side dish of Algebraic Geometry

oh boy

I expected that kind of reaction :D
What are you up to this term?

5:59 PM
^^
Solid state physics Solid state physics....solid state physics
and some polymer physics and magnetism here and there... :D

@Phonon Sounds like a... solid plan ;)

@ACuriousMind haha ;)

Holy crapola does BrandonEnright do a lot of first-post reviewing
What is your secret to getting so many!?

@ChrisWhite : FYI, this search is also pretty efficient.
