Also, for your answer: as far as I can tell, inflicted damage doesn't count overkill

so if you're fighting a squirt and you inflict 27 damage on it, and let's say the squirt has 10 HP, you'll only get 0.5 HP back.

I'm basing this off of the fact that when I kill a group of squirts, even though I'm inflicting 27 damage on each of them, I don't seem to get much more health back compared to when I simply inflict 27 damage on a larger enemy.
