If you want to go ballistic, a scripting language might help you there. :) Say, in Ruby: p = lambda {|q| puts '\\printbibliography{'.concat(Dir::glob(q.concat('*.bib')).map!{|x| x[0..-5]}.join(",")).concat('}')}; p.call('../Sandbox/') gives me \printbibliography{../Sandbox/mybiblio,../Sandbox/test196,../Sandbox/mybiblio2}‌. :)Paulo Cereda 30 secs ago
Gotta love being ballistic. :)
Actually it's just \bibliography. Oopsie.

Hello to everybody
@egreg: Congratulation ;-)

@PauloCereda Bad Paulo, bad, bad, Paulo. tex.stackexchange.com/questions/192917/…

Hello. I have a question I was hoping you could help me with. I've just recently moved to a new computer and my thesis no longer has citations. Instead it just comes up with the citation key. I'm using texstudio if that makes a difference. Similar questions I've found haven't been answered or are closed and I'm told to come here.

@PauloCereda arara is on its way of becoming the emacs of TeX

Q: How can I optimize the arara (un)zip-program?

cisI have written zip.yaml - it works as I can see. !config # zip rule for arara # author: cis # version: 0.1 # requires arara 3.0+, zip identifier: zip name: Zip command: <arara> @{unzip}@{program} @{options} @{outputpath}@{name}.@{extension} '@{data0} @{data}' @{encrypt} @{pw} arguments: - ident...

SSSSCHIIAAAAAAAAAA
I guess it's the logo color right?

@E_L Did you transfer your .bib file too? Did you compile with latex, bibtex, latex and latex?

@percusse Surely. :)

E_L
@AlanMunn I did. Did all of the above.

@percusse Perfect. THAT's gonna get a lot of stars for sure!

Sorry. How can I download all of files in tug.org/svn/… at once?

7:17 PM
@E_L And what appears in the log/console output? Especially when you run bibtex.

@AlanMunn I've put all the relevant buzzwords together, it's like the Euler equation

@percusse: I learned a lot of Russian swear expression while watching the Dota 2 tournament. This might come in handy later on. :)

@E_L Ah, ok. So you are using biblatex for bibliographies?

7:18 PM
@Pleasedon'ttouch Really? I didn't watch the finals.

E_L
@AlanMunn see above. I don't know what the errors are, it doesn't display them

Vici vs. Newbee.

@PauloCereda Yes. I think the china team won.

@AlanMunn biber/biblatex

Newbee won.

@E_L No, that error is helpful. Hang on a second.

@PauloCereda That's warcraft no? kinda...

7:20 PM
@percusse Yep! It started as a mod, then evolved to its own thing. :)
@percusse: I'm feeling like Victor Frankenstein. The code of arara 6.0 is growing, and the bird is taking a lot of steroids. I'm expecting angry threatening letters from Peta.

@E_L current biber version (for use with current biblatex 2.9) is 1.9. You may need to update.

@PauloCereda I wonder why these always take place either in the history or future. We are literally the most boring era of all time. Excuse the pun

@percusse LOL
Which reminds me to play End of an era from Nightwish.

@PaulGessler Ok. I just downloaded/installed MikTex a couple of days ago... I guess that the updates won't have been combined in the latest MikTex?...

7:24 PM
@E_L I was going to agree with @PaulGessler on this, but now I'm not so sure. No, if you just downloaded the latest MikTeX I would be pretty certain that the version of biber you have is up-to-date. (I'm not a MikTeX /Windows user myself, though.)

@E_L 32- or 64-bit MikTeX (and I assume MikTeX 2.9)?
If 64-bit, see:

Q: Install Biber in MiKTeX on a 64-bit version of Windows

Eric DanielskiThe question Biblatex + Biber + Texmaker + MiKTeX describe how to use Biber with MiKTeX. But on the 64-bit version of MiKTeX Biber isn't installed. How it is possible to install Biber on a 64-bit version of Windows? Can I use this file?

I wished I had I moderator ping just now

E_L
@PaulGessler its 32-bit. In MiKTeX Package Manager it says "MiKTeX Package Manager (windowed mode) version 2.9.4248

@PaulGessler the date for miktex-biber-bin in the package manager is 2013-11-01 21:06

7:29 PM
@Johannes_B It basically says I don't know what I'm doing so it must be somebody else's fault. Just leave it alone for a day or two

@percusse Will do, thanks.

@E_L ok nvm that then.

@egreg @DavidCarlisle I can outline what I did do about namespaces 15 ears ago. You can use
\namespace xxx \def\foo... \let\bar... \chardef\something etc. \endnamespace
All things are processed within the scope \namespace \endnamespace normally
plus all new declared control sequences are stored into internal table.
And the \endnamespace does the following work:
1) All control sequences from the internal table are internally renamed from
\foo to \xxx_foo. I.e. \foo is \undefined after that.
2) All token lists with parameter text and macro body of these sequences

@percusse btw: i am still regularly listen to the Journey/Miley Cyrus Mashup :-) Thx for that.

@E_L Have you tried this:

A: Biblatex/biber fails with a strange error about missing recode_data.xml file

Alan MunnThe error you are getting is a well known issue with biber. It creates binaries in a cache folder, and sometimes that can get corrupted. In order to solve the problem, you need to manually delete the cache folders. The name of the cache folder will be something like the following: par-<hex_en...

7:33 PM
@percusse: we are now hipsters, arara processes XML too.

@Johannes_B Haha!

@Papiro @ChristianHupfer Thanks.

E_L
@AlanMunn Will give it a go. Am just running the MiKTeX update in the hope that maybe there's an update I missed or something was corrupted!

@E_L As @PaulGessler said, the error is ususally associated with having the wrong version of biber for the version of biblatex you have. Is it possible that you have a local version of biblatex in your local texmf and an up-to-date biber? That might also give the same error.

@AlanMunn sorry about my bad advice in the chat (chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/16730575#16730575) and thank you for correcting, btw. I'm continuously learning how things work around here. :-)

7:41 PM
why does TUG use SVN rathen than GIT?

@Pleasedon'ttouch lots of people do

@Pleasedon'ttouch I ask the same about my employer. A lot of times (at least it's this way in my experience) it's just a question of who set up the project and in which VCS he/she has experience.

@DavidCarlisle and @PaulGessler: OK thanks.

@Pleasedon'ttouch If you want a central repository and not expecting forked distributed development svn has a lot of advantages. Also of course tug is a lot older than git, and rcs/cvs/svn is a more naural evolution than moving to git at some point

@DavidCarlisle OK.

8:01 PM
@E_L it's possible there is something wrong. I just checked portable 2.9.5105 and it included biber 1.8
@E_L I just checked 32-bit 2.9.5105 full installer and it also includes biber 1.8 for some reason.

8:31 PM
@PaulGessler The update has just finished. I think that has cured it. Thanks for all your help and assistance!

@E_L great, glad to hear it!

8:56 PM
@JosephWright: Could you take a look on this editing tex.stackexchange.com/review/suggested-edits/48407, I think it was too much, to edit an accepted answer, although the question is 'old'

@PaulGessler No problem at all. It's always nice to have more people who are willing to help with questions that arise in chat, and there's not always a single right answer, especially for that kind.
@ChristianHupfer That's a kind of a close call. The edit improves the answer because it also adds details that should work for LaTeX as well as ConTeXt. It's true that Aditya is a ConTeXt person, but this question isn't really about that, so I think the edit isn't so inappropriate. The alternative would be to suggest that the editor add a new answer, but that would essentially duplicate Aditya's answer anyway. I would be inclined to accept the edit.
@ChristianHupfer And any time an answer or question you wrote gets edited, you receive a notice, so Aditya will be informed of the edit too, and he obviously could roll it back if he felt it didn't preserve the spirit of his answer.

9:15 PM
@AlanMunn: I see, anyway, I am always reluctant to approve such strong editing, regardless of the quality. If Aditya has not reacted yet, it's possible alright.

@ChristianHupfer I'm not strongly disagreeing with you. :) So I think rejecting the edit isn't necessarily bad either. It really is a close call.

@AlanMunn: I can live with that ;-)

Q: How to deal with robo-reviewers?

WernerThe following is taken from What are the review queues, and how do they work?: The review queues (also known as review tasks) contain posts that possibly need community attention, as determined by the system or other community users. You are shown these posts, one at a time, and you "review" ...

2

@Werner: I feel deeply addressed :D

@ChristianHupfer I'm attempting to solicit some community feedback, after which I might post a similar question on Meta Stack Exchange to see how they suggest one deals with it.
Current, only Stack Overflow has this functionality (as far as I know) and I'd like to suggest it be pushed out further; or request ways of dealing with it on a site-by-site basis.

@Werner flagging reviews?

@tohecz Something like that...

@Werner: I know, we talked two days ago, you remember? About that Looks good chat message of you...

10:02 PM
@ChristianHupfer Yes.
@tohecz It feels strange that people actions should be moderated, but the same probably goes for actions on others actions... if it is not always handled appropriately.
:-|

@Werner: I agree with you, that two queues are quite troublesome: Suggested Edits and Low Quality Posts, and I have perhaps clicked too fast, but there are some reviewers (sorry, about this spoiler ;-)), they approve anything

@ChristianHupfer well, then you have First Posts and No Action Needed action. The only case when no action is needed is when someone else has already acted.

@tohecz: Agreed, that is causing trouble too, but sometimes, when I come across on such a first post, somebody already has edited (improved??) or made some comments about it, so what else apart of possible retagging can you do? I rely on the rep of a 5000+ user that he/she will not introduce rubbish by editing, so No Action needed, otherwise I can check myself, improve it, look for duplicates or, if necessary, flag it

@ChristianHupfer that's what I say, this is the case when it's fine

@tohecz: Sorry, didn't notice that you edited your message ;-)
@Werner: I suspect, that you will get comments and answers up to the roof ;-)

10:18 PM
@ChristianHupfer There's been no activity yet... ;)

@Werner: It will take some time, on Meta, I believe
@Werner: And those guys that should feel addressed won't answer, either feeling guilty or they do not contribute to Meta at all

@Werner I am, for instance, opening every single suggested edit where the reviewers didn't agree. I see some stuff that is IMHO alarming. I'll re-check the things tomorrow and maybe post an answer. However, if I decide to do so, it won't be nice :-/
@ChristianHupfer btw, I agree with all your rejects I've met in the first couple pages of the review history, just FYI :)

@tohecz Well, TeX - LaTeX Meta is about TeX - LaTeX, and that's where things happen. If it is a problem and the community feels it needs addressing, then so be it.
@tohecz There is no need to point fingers at individuals, but rather address the issue with generalities...

@Werner well, I'm not afraid of being specific and name people

@tohecz :)

10:27 PM
@tohecz: Thanks, I have not looked so far on your review list... I should do from now on... but it is, as Werner stated two days ago in chat: Some guys have a review pattern ;-)

@tohecz Well, I'll wait to see whether my name makes it into your naughty-list then.

@Werner lol :D
I'll probably just try and take like 20 reviews, and explain why I don't agree with the 2-people consensus. Everyone can then check who was participating in the (IMHO wrong) decision the most
it won't directly answer your meta question, but heck, meta is about discussion and this way, strong arguments showing that some action is needed can be presented

@tohecz: That's a good point: I do not understand, why it just takes only two approvers (does that word exist at all?) for Suggested edits, but it needs 5 close voters.

@tohecz Yes, meta answers aren't always answers to the question. As such, voting is also somewhat different. Up-votes showing support for an idea, and down-votes showing opposition to the idea.

@Werner I know :)

10:32 PM
And why is allowed, for fresh yours to do edits of other posts too. It should be limited to say, 500+.

@ChristianHupfer I think you can say "two approvals" in this case :)

@tohecz: Thanks ;-)

@ChristianHupfer I don't see anything wrong with people being able to suggest edits from almost the very beginning. But the reviewers have to do their job correctly

@tohecz: There was some edit, some time ago, by a freshman (;-)) it was weird, introduced wrong content to an answer, it screwed up the post, and, you guess it already... it was approved... I can't remember exactly, however

@ChristianHupfer and such thing exactly should lead to a review ban

10:39 PM
@tohecz: I agree, but as long there is no audit available for TeX.SX (why wasn't it enabled for this site too?), we have to live with it.

@ChristianHupfer review audits can't work in small scale

@tohecz: Small scale? You mean, too few users?

@ChristianHupfer too few users and too few reviews in general
you rarely have over 5 reviews a day. How many audits can you add to make them still well hidden etc?

@tohecz: Close voting is easily extended over 5 reviews... but take a look on the First Posts stats and you will find the same name on top basically each day, with a review count of 15+... I still wonder: How is it possible? Is that user continously clicking on review, grabbing anything possible?

@ChristianHupfer Short answer: Yes. Long answer: Yes, he is.

10:47 PM
@tohecz: ;-)

anyways, I gotta go. Good night

@tohecz: Good night

@ChristianHupfer thanks. bye!

@tohecz :)

@Werner I see what you did there :p byez

11:00 PM
@Werner: How about your bees? ;-)
@Paulo: Nudge nudge ;-)

@ChristianHupfer Oh my... I'm eager to see what they're up to, but plan only on opening up one of our hives this Friday.
I anticipate that they've built out a great deal of comb, so I might add another super on the hive. I doubt we'll get much honey this year, but that's perhaps very standard for "new-bees". :)
You have to start somewhere.
No further stings though. Phew!
2

@ChristianHupfer Say no more. :)

I have no idea if it's a good year for honey at all ... so it is better to let the honey to next generation, as you already considered

@Werner It will be un-bee-lievable. :)
2

@Werner some family friends of ours started bee-keeping this summer. Quite fascinating stuff, really. I was at their house a few weekends ago and there was a "turf war" of sorts going on with another hive.

11:04 PM
@PauloCereda: No chance :P
@PauloCereda: I could not have said it bee-tter :D

@PauloCereda He he.
@PaulGessler We recently had some wasps around... nasty little insects. Makes the bees agitated and territorial.

Reminds me on hexagonal convection cells (Rayleigh-Bénard) ;-)

@ChristianHupfer Aditya has looked at an done a few extra bits of editing to the question we were discussing. So I think the system has worked as it should have.

@ChristianHupfer Also Giant's Causeway :-)

@AlanMunn: Alright ;-)
@PaulGessler: Yes, thanks. Nice link! I remember to have seen such basalt columns already. Nature has an amazing tendency for symmetry (or using the principle of smallest energy ;-))

11:20 PM
@ChristianHupfer I never knew about that place until a fluids professor brought it up in lecture some months ago.

@PaulGessler: Well, experts know (no, I am not one ;-)) I have not been there so far.

@PaulGessler That's neat.

Oh, its almost half past one o'clock here, time for bed
Good night

@ChristianHupfer 'night!

@PaulGessler: Thanks...
