It can be used with to be even though it is not passive, unlike the participles of other verbs.

So I could pretty much say 'is come' and it'd mean exactly the same as 'has come' except nobody uses it anymore?

Yes.
It is still used, but it is just old-fashioned.
Some people use old-fashioned constructions, but it is uncommon now.

Yeah, I've noticed some. But it's better to know them even if I'm not going to use them.
By the way... another sudden question.
"If I'm not going to use them" vs "If I'm not to use them."

@JersonZuleta You probably mean the former. The latter means "if I'm not supposed/destined to use them".

@Cerberus Yo, thank you so much. Sorry if I ask too many questions on here.

12:09 AM
You're not asking too many questions!
We like questions.

Alright, that's good to hear. Thank you again, you'll probably hear that a lot from me.

Haha.

Fixed my tablet's problems.

Yay!
Flash another ROM?

Turns out it was my own damn fault.

No, I adjusted the firewall settings :p
Forgot it had a firewall

Haha come on.

12:23 AM
Ah, yes, that is its predecessor.
I use AF.
Does PVStar work now?

Dunno. Didn't try it.
Probably it will. I didn't unblock it.

I hope it does.

So I've been investigating other ways to get the "digital copies" redeemed and installed. It turns out that movie companies are annoying as hell.
Each major studio does things its own way.
Some studios do things different ways for different movies.
The only thing that appears to be common to most/all of them is iTunes support.
Which is garbage, afaic.
Fox has Android support, but one movie (Skyfall) requires a fox-specific app, while another movie (X-Men First Class) requires some OTHER app.
At least these apps have some extra value added over being yet another media player. They can actually integrate with the blu-ray player somehow.
So if your phone/tablet is on the same wifi lan as the BD player, the devices coordinate.
which is neat, but raises a whole bunch of security questions and also makes me wish these things were open standards so that I could just get a proper open-source android app for this.
Meanwhile, the Google Play Movies app has its own extra features, like movie/actor info shown when the movies are paused.

@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 Haha that sucks.

@Cerberus yeah it's annoying.

12:31 AM
Either stop watching those films, or download a DRM-free version somewhere after you have bought them.

Well, I own the films on DVD/BD
so I can rip them if I really want to
I just figured, if some studio is going to let me have movies in their cloud, why not? it's free
but only Disney, my nemesis, made it actually easy.

Downloading is faster than ripping.

@Cerberus Yeah but I can better control the output of the rip.
I can ensure that multiple languages are included, and subtitles, etc.

1:34 AM
@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 Right, right.
@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 What is that about? I don't get it.

2:03 AM
@Cerberus A guy decided to take a selfie near an oncoming train. The conductor thought he was too close, so he kicked him in the head as the train went by.

@Mitch I just applied bonjela to the sore, and the pain vanished, magic!

@WillHunting I think bonjela is an anesthetic that removes all pain plus an amnesiac that makes you forget about whatever pain you have.
The literary technique is the voice is a mother writing a letter to a son. She's trying to make him feel guilty because she's sacrificing but making it look like it is his choice for her to suffer. Eventually she'll die through no fault of his own, but he'll always have that nagging feeling that he caused it. Wait..what were we talking about? — Mitch 1 min ago

@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 I am staying puft. If I stay puft longer than four hours, should I consult a physician?

So. Um.
All my MSO questions and answers got moved to the new Meta, where I now have 5,847 reps from the get-go.
But on MSO, where I now don't have a single post, I have 9660 reps.

What is the new Meta?

We’re very pleased to announce that as of today, we’re (finally) splitting the site formerly known as Meta Stack Overflow into two sites:

Meta Stack Overflow is a brand-spanking new site for discussions specific to the Stack Overflow (programming) community:

And I like.

I shall resist posting anything at all for times immemorial.

I wonder if I will be getting passive reps, though. And how much.

How can you if you have no posts?

That is the question!

Phantom reps.

But I certainly would love to get to 10k without ever posting anything at all.
So close.

It is a feat many have tried, but without success.

Arbus believed that a camera could be "a little bit cold, a little bit harsh" but its scrutiny revealed the truth; the difference between what people wanted others to see and what they really did see – the flaws. A friend said that Arbus said that she was "afraid ... that she would be known simply as 'the p...

How come we don't call island nations "sea-locked" countries?

@MattЭллен No. Island clearly means "is land" (as opposed to "is sea" or "is water").
