Strongly request that we reopen the following question. It is specific, but a google search seems to turn up absolutely no information, and it is most definitely workplace-related (although likely solely in India). Indian employment practices seem to have a lot of different aspects and are a great way to get good traffic to our site:

Q: How does Background Verification through NASSCOM work?

ramRecently I got an offer from a multinational corporation and they want me to register in the National Skills Registry (NSR) and I registered. My first company registered in 2011. I worked there from 2010 and I quit in 2012. I am now worried this may be held against me How is the NSR Verificatio...

@jmort253 While there is no guarantee, I do hope you'll make the cut for the next election and will help show the new mods the ropes. Plus, I didn't want to have to nominate you against your will!

CMW
@jmac You got it

12:35 AM
@CMW Thanks :D

12:48 AM
@jmac Just FYI I am guessing india because of what i found when i searched for NASSCOM

@Chad I think it is India, but pretty-much anyone who uses MNC in their post is from India judging from past questions.

@gnat, I made you a present on meta. Just recommend that you keep your answer shorter than usual (you tend to get a bit long-winded when it comes to hot questions).

@gnat Your wish is my command. I would like the regulars to give this a review. I have a feeling we may need to refer users to it when the site goes public and our traffic jumps. We should make other useful FAQ entries that are polite but firm, and explain our reasoning for closing, deleting, downvoting, flagging, etc.

Q: When should I flag an answer as 'Not an Answer'?

jmacThe Workplace seems pretty subjective. There are guidelines for Good Subjective, Bad Subjective Questions, but what are the guidelines for answers? When should I flag an answer as 'Not an Answer'?

7:22 AM
@jmac I tried to be as brief as I can, but couldn't fit it into a single comment. Need to work on my style a bit more :)
'my favorite pattern is from MetaFilter... "...anyone who bookmarks that page and says "You know, I really want to be in there; maybe I'll go back later," that's the kind of user MeFi wants to have.' (A Group Is Its Own Worst Enemy) — gnat 8 mins ago
Jeff wouldn't be surprised to find out that completely dropping the algorithm turns out disappointing. Neither am I: "bounty awarded for inventing formula that has been proven to work reasonably well in the past (and still does a fairly good job at early picking of potentially popular questions)" (Feb 22 '13) — gnat 22 mins ago

7:36 AM
@gnat You should make an answer -- a comment can't contain all your thoughts! I really do want to know what you think the goal should be (you say to draw people to the site, which is great! but what sorts of things should we be looking at the draw them in? How do we get them to stay?)

7:47 AM
@jmac I see, will work out the answer. Won't happen soon though - I'd prefer to hear others thoughts first. If there will be not much activity I will maybe even bounty it for a week or two to bring more community attention. By the way Jeff Atwood would probably make a great referee in the boxing match you described :)

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. Waiting to see what others say first.

A: What is the Goal of "Hot Network Questions"?

Mad ScientistThe ideal hot questions list would present the best posts of the network that are of interest to a wider population than only experts on that subject. The hot questions are shown to a much broader audience than the source site alone, showing them very specialized posts that they won't understand ...

by the way, @RhysW I just figured that MadScientist is more of a Gandalf in this hot story. :) My research started independently, but I pretty soon discovered that I am mostly walking on his traces

if we get enough people in the room @jmac 's avatar will eventually be above someone elses in the list, and that person will be full of good ideas for the rest of the day

@CMW this url doesn't work for users having larger pagesizes, you better set it explicitly to 15 workplace.stackexchange.com/… or 50: workplace.stackexchange.com/…

CMW
@gnat huh, I didn't even realize one could change that size

other than that, a great idea :)
@CMW yup, because it's hidden deep at the bottom of the page :)

CMW
It's how I spent all of my 6-ish delete votes every day for the last two days
ah there
@RhysW Until they start participating in here. Then the ideas will instantly go away

@CMW efficiency hint: skip questions that are closed (except for dupes) and don't have up-voted/accepted answers, these will be auto-deleted by roomba in a bit more than a week

A: Turbocharging the Roomba: solutions for premature deletion

Shog9The following changes are live now: Deleted questions will be visible to their authors, regardless of those authors' reputation. They won't be linked to anywhere† that they're not already linked, but if someone knows where to find their question and it's been deleted, they should always be abl...

No answers with a score > 0
No accepted answer
No pending reopen votes
No edits in the past 9 days

Without noticing I actually delete-voted a question that only had one answer, mine, and it was an accepted one, too. Then I was confused where some of my rep suddenly left for

@CMW fair price isn't it? :) (I didn't get into this at Workplace yet, but at Programmers it happened to me)

CMW
:)
I didn't mind it, just gave me a case of confusilation

5:07 PM
@CMW Interesting sidebar: Some questions deserve to be deleted, even though it might cost you some rep.

Q: Should I look for a new job?

SusieIn my current job we use Struts 1, hibernate and oracle. This is my first job and I have been working here for 2 years now. They pay me well here. And if I move on to a different job, I will probably end up with less than what I am getting right now. At this point, I feel like I should find anot...

this seems like textbook "close me"

@enderland closed now.

@MonicaCellio sweet.

@enderland and within the hour, too.
I'm not particularly looking for things to close (I hit the close and reopen queues about equally), but if something does need to be closed, best to do it before too many answers show up (which, in cases where the question can be fixed, make fixing harder).

I always get frustrated when "obvious" close questions like "tell me what to do with my life" get answers before closing. Makes it SO MUCH harder to edit the question
(nice timing @MonicaCellio hah, we posted very similar thoughts at the same time)

@enderland great minds... or at least that's what I'm going to assume. :-)

A: Do you wait for edits before voting to close a question?

gnatWhen I sense a good question buried within a vague wording, I for one try to get it closed as soon as possible. Thing is, vague wording is a road to closure anyway but while open, it can attract irrelevant answers which will make it difficult (as explained here) to further edit the question into...
