Dear skunk, I appreciate your tireless campaign against grubs, but please stop uprooting the cabbages and basil. There are probably plenty of grubs still in the lawn -- eat them and leave the garden beds alone. Also, where are you getting through the fence? I'd really like to know...

12:18 PM
@bstpierre Do they burrow? Haven't had the deal with small critters in my garden. Pretty sure the neighbor's cats and dogs keep them all away...

@waxeagle They dig, but I haven't seen any holes under the fence. I have to inspect more this evening, there's got to be a gap I'm missing. On the bright side, I haven't seen many japanese beetles this summer -- skunks dug up half the lawn eating grubs this spring!
@waxeagle We've got outdoor cats and a dog, but they're all locked inside by the time the skunks come out.

12:38 PM
@bstpierre Gotcha, our neighbor cats appear to be 100% outdoor. We have a recently acquired 100% outdoor kitten, but he isn't scaring anything away yet
@bstpierre Thankfully other than something menacing my greenbeans early on I have been fairly bug free this summer.

12:57 PM
@waxeagle That's good! I've got a striped cucumber beetle infestation. So zucchini got off to a slow start but after a heavy feeding they're doing better at fending off the beetles. Cukes are getting chewed but I see a lot of fruit on the vines, hoping we can get enough for another winter's worth of pickles.

@bstpierre That's a bummer, glad there is some hope for your cukes. I didn't try them this year after I only got one or two last year. I may try again next summer. I know I won't plant nearly as many green beans next summer.
Speaking of which, I should probably pick beans again tonight...

1:17 PM
@waxeagle Heh, you have to pick beans only on days that end in Y. I've got to pick peas, though at 88°F today and 90° tomorrow, that won't last much longer.

@bstpierre seriously. I didn't reailze the kind of yield I would get and planted like 6 6' rows of them. I have already frozen 1 gallon sized bag. Will probably freeze one more and eat or give away the rest

@bstpierre congrats on 4k

Hello y'all! I noticed that tag wikis and meta questions often include little "tag images". How do I annotate a word or phrase as a tag image?

are you looking for
if so then its [ + tag: + word + ] (skip the plusses)

@waxeagle Thanks!

@winwaed Did that answer your question?

@waxeagle Thanks - yes that looks to be it. Let me try it out. I saw them being used in meta and just now I've edited a tag wiki entry and saw someone had insert the tags. Perhaps there should be a button to add the mark up (like the bold and italics markup)

@winwaed Also, for any formatting-type question, if you click on "source" (eg gardening.stackexchange.com/posts/467/revisions --you have to be looking at the history of a tag wiki) you can see how someone accomplished a particular formatting trick.

3:37 PM
@winwaed You can always do a feature request in meta, but honestly I don't think its used enough to merit a button. particularly because its only really useful in meta or tag wiki edits, not on q&a

@waxeagle True. It isn't that common. It could be made to appear on tag wikis and meta, but that starts to get complicated.

@winwaed yeah, general is easy, special is a PITA
