@Sterno It looks like Rogue Legacy is kind of a long grind to kill all 4 bosses and then I don't know what after that, with victory inevitable. It looks like the "goal" is to do that in as few generations as possible.

@Sterno I feel like part of that is me getting better, and part of that is because the forest and towers are brutal and it's not really getting easier, it's just letting you get wrecked elsewhere.

@Sterno Binding of Issac is sort of like that too, since lots of the non-useless items need to be unlocked, I didn't really like that

You can argue that once you're completely maxed out 10M is too easy to get, but that's not the point you're making

@OrigamiRobot Pancakes are not superior. They do have unique utility (i quite like rolling up breakfast sausages and scrambled eggs in them to make an ersatz breakfast burrito), but waffles are clearly better.

I prefer it when the advantages you get from dying are all meta

Rogue Legacy kind of sidesteps it by having Charon take all your gold when you enter the dungeon. So you have to at least earn enough in one run to unlock something before the next one.

Without Charon stealing your gold at the dungeon entrance, Rogue Legacy would be a lot less fun.

@Sterno I think a better way of doing it is when failure enables easy mode or something. Throw a bone to people legitimately struggling, but don't make failure a requirement. But that's not really a rougelike thing to do, since you're going to die no matter what, more or less

@FAE The only thing I rail against is when the normal mode is trivially easy, and you can't unlock harder modes until beating the game. That's frustrating, because a lot of games really aren't fun more than once.

@Sterno Yeah, I prefer at least the option to play on Hard at start, if it's there. I'm fine with like Insane modes and such being locked, but having a decent challenge is more fun for me personally. I don't often replay games at all, so.

@Blem The main thing is the majority of my friends live in the US, so I have to play on US servers and FPS gameplay is generally more sensitive to lag/high ping than just MMORPGs.

I'm tweaking the settings in DiRT 2 and I'm presented with these choices (in order) for multisampling: 2x MSAA 4x MSAA 8x MSAA 8x CSAA 16x CSAA 8x QCSAA Using the nVidia Control panel I'm presented with 2x 4x 8x CSAA 8x 16x CSAA 16xQ CSAA 32x CSAA I assume those without text on the nVidia...

Why?

I feel screen resolutions are generic enough to be widely applicable to lots of things, not just gaming.

The actual game does not affect the answer unless that game happened to reinvent the meaning of those terms

Those specific settings, multisampling, anti-aliasing, and such, could be specific to gaming. I dunno; I haven't encountered them elsewhere, so I could be wrong.
