Q: "Please invent my invention" or "Would X work?" questions; suitability and topicality?

uhohExample 1 (as originally posted): The question What is the best Lagrange point for beamed power supply to spacecraft? reads in its entirety: If a small reactor could be transported or assembled in space or solar cells, which Lagrange point would be the best for the reactor to be to beam ener...

@geoffc 1 (Q) + 2.5 (A) = 3.5 (total)

Ah, better point.

@geoffc the plot thickens...

We have a mass deficit. I think we need to move over to Physics and postulate "Dark Answers" to make our model work.

2:04 PM
10% unanswered. Yuck...

2:59 PM
@uhoh you there?
@PearsonArtPhoto why are unanswered stats important?

@Muze This is a Q&A site, not a Q site? Important, well of interest and note certainly.

It's just higher than I would like...

@PearsonArtPhoto Then could abstract educated guesses be used to answer old question with something? Even if its wrong or opinionated it still better then no answer?
wrong answers can give rise to correct ones.

4:22 PM
@PearsonArtPhoto Looks like there is a bad tag of 'cygnss' that could be cleaned up.

4:58 PM
There was 2 that were easily fixed by renaming the tags, but...

@Muze no, generally that's the opposite of the direction Stack Exchange wants to go
Wrong or opinion is almost always negative value here
It gets downvoted/closed

I occasionally browse space.stackexchange.com/questions?sort=unanswered to find Q I can A. The utility of that page is hampered though by the questions being in random order.

@uhoh This is what I get for changing things without looking carefully... Sigh.

7:22 PM
@Hobbes I wonder why yours are in random order. For me they are ordered from most upvotes to least...

7:39 PM
ah, that's it. A useless order, but an order nonetheless. I'd have preferred ordering by date though.

10:37 PM
It's a bit more involved than that, but yeah, in general that is the order.

11:09 PM
@PearsonArtPhoto I'd blame it all on geoffc's bad advice, he's probably practicing for an April fool gag or going for the dupe-the-mods badge now.

11:25 PM
@PearsonArtPhoto I think I've noticed that the site's answer ratio might have dropped a few points over the last year or so?
My Q's are only at 85%; so I think I'm going to focus on answering some of my own and promoting some others.
20% of all unanswered questions are mine
13% of all questions are mine
EOF (end of factoids)
