Q: Alternate orbital mechanics question

SF.I have a question that I think is quite fascinating, but first, I don't know if it really belongs here, and second, I don't know how to phrase it in a constructive, answerable format for a Q&A site. It might belong on math stackexchange. It might be right for physics. Damn, it might be the correc...

A look at how to get started with TypeScript.

Aanaother day, another possible SN15 flight attempt.

@PearsonArtPhoto I think that was the right thing to do in this particular case. Whatever can be salvaged as a new, workable question will be a substantially different question and not deserve all the down votes accrued here.

2:24 PM
I'm guessing that SpaceX is targeting the launch of Starship for the exact time that Blue Origin plans to release the New Sheppard passenger prices.

So, Blue Origin is doing an auction to be on the first ride to space. Huh.

Good on them! Best of luck! More the merrier!
Here is a funny and bizarre, in some ways, take on Musk hosting SNL this weekend.

Pad may be clear at Boca Chica... Couple of hours from flight still (Possible)

Moderating Tim (EDA)'s chat a bit. It's a mess...

Wow, it seems SN15 will fly in some hours!
@PearsonArtPhoto I had not deleted the questions of that anti-spacex guy, although I had not the mood to cleanup them, and probably not too much original had remained after the cleanup.
...so killing them was not a big loss, but imho having unwelcomed questions with good answers is useful.

I am watching the NSF feed. What are you guys watching? Anything good?

@PearsonArtPhoto In my opinion, SE is not only information exchange, it is also media. People googling for similar topics, should find our answers.
@geoffc And this prediction shows that launch is likely in an hour (also U.S. work time).

9:57 PM
I saw a prediction of 5:18 PM CDT (6:18 EST, UTC people can go do the needed math).
So about 20 min if true. (if).

10:10 PM
Btw, I think the space shuttle could have been made correctly. The money went into maintenance/refurbish, should have gone into development. For example: SRBs could have been converted to LOX/LH, and the main fuel tank could have come back with parachutes. The thermal protection tiles should have been more uniformized, too.

Trivent! 10 min or so to launch!
Estimating 5:25PM local.

"Launch imminent"
Where can I hear the original sound of the launch?
Ok I found
Launch in 1 min!
Launch...
Probability estimate for single-piece landing (and survival)?
Mine is still 60%
Video frozen... I hope it is transmit problem
It is there???
Hey clouds go away
IT IS THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Still burns but there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

10:31 PM
Woo Hoo!

It still burns!!!!!!!
Best landing until today! But that fire looks very bad!

Can they get the fire under control.... Not great. But a fixable problem. Since they managed to land it softly.
Big heat tile patch looks good. Curious how well they lasted.

It is a big LM tank, leaking. You can not stop it with a bottle of water

It is a mostly empty tank... There is not a ton to burn. It does seem like one of thevents may be on fire.
LOX vents are way up higher so probably not contributing.

That would be fine :-) LOX + LM burn, nothing on Earth could stop that

10:36 PM
Did you see the camera on the front flap? As it flew, and controlled, its view moved. That was cool.
LOX and most anything + tiniest bit of heat = fire.

No but I will see

Pour LOX on most things and they burn.

sometimes, explode. Yeah
With SN10, poor Felix happily cheered... and then once he has spot that there is no more rocket :-) He needed to scroll back to see what happened :)
It arrived well visibly slower than previously. It seems this time Raptors worked correctly.
There is still a little fire

10:54 PM
Ok there is no more fire. I am curious, what will they do with the thing now.
When will venting stop?

Good questions.

I would be not very glad to go near the rocket now. Not even tomorrow.

Thus Zeus and Apollo! Good puppies to have!

What will happen to the remaining fuel in the tanks? It will slowly warm up. LOX can be probably released safely, but what is with LM?
On the Moon/Mars, also LM can be released, although it would be likely a huge waste of resources. On the Earth, maybe some burn-off mechanism could/should exist.
