@MathCubes you seem to have a specific example in mind, so I wish you'd share it

Yeah they told me that "I do not have any reasonable accomdations" despite giving them to me since April.
And they at the moment they render all of them void even with a doctor note and something that is reasonable for the condition

@MathCubes in legalese I'm almost certain "discrimination" and "discriminatory behavior" would be specifically defined

Oh yeah true
that is what I asked about
I went up there and like 5 people was working but no one wanted to sign it...
I am quite sad about it they agree it was but they wasn't willing to put it on paper.

@MathCubes sorry to hear that. But I meant a specific example. As Faheem said, "I'm being discriminated against" is correct and common wording. Also "I'm a victim of discriminatory behavior."

It's quite hard to go to court when no one is backing you.

12:17 AM
But I'm sure there is more to it than we can tell you in this chat. For example, a lawyer might recommend active over passive voice, or a certain choice of words that leaves no room for other interpretations

I know

Even whether such laws apply to your case might require some investigation of course.

Yeah discrimation base on disability
Kinda sad because as someone that is train as a first responder. I am train to put other people lieves first at all cost even if it costs me my own and so I wasn't expecting this response like eveyrone was nice and stood up for me until I ask for this
Than they like basically play stupid

@Lambie "Sound notifications", in other words, pings. So as Jasper mentioned, click on the speaker icon above the room title on desktop
@MathCubes sounds terrible. I would trust only the people that I know would back me in such situations with such information. Others might not opt to help a coworker if it's at the expense of another coworker, even if it's the right thing to do

Doesn't matter there is the non fare act and as such.
And so if they try that $$$$$

12:27 AM
Are there any organizations devoted to helping resolve issues similar to yours?
That's probably where you can find some supportive people

@M.A.R. Thanks. I just did it. That sound is TRULY awful. Why don't they make it a pleasant sound? It's like everything else around here: stolid and grim,

@MathCubes you mean this one?

Yeah
And there is something with the EEO

@Lambie if it looks like a fun place managers won't let programmers slack off in SO chatrooms

So I would have to file an EEOC

12:36 AM
As long as your English is understandable and proofread for typos I'm sure they won't mind
I'm going back to sleep. o/

@M.A.R. If the programmers have any skills at all, they will be able to camouflage their activities well enough to evade any manager's attention in that respect.

@Lambie @user4539917 showed how to turn it off and on. And in one sense that answers why (or is it how? I don't really know)
But I think you've succeeded in describing it as the worst of all the effing kinds of sounds there are.
I'd call it a plonk though.

@Mitch Some would call it a plunk.

I'm sure there's an actually real world label for it, like 'dropping a drawer of cutlery down the stairs' or 'the screams of mimes crushed in a freak elevator accident'
@Robusto It's surely a recording of -some- industrial accident?

On the other hand, it does get your attention. Remember, that was what the spec sheet wanted, and the developer just said, "OK, if that's what you want, here goes."

@M.A.R. What? Jasper?
@Lambie There is surely a history about it, and it is likely that I have heard that history at one point, but I cant remember and chat search is not helping me much.

2:26 AM
> Former Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl has left Austria due to death threats. Kneissl is remembered for dancing with Putin at her own wedding. Until this May, she was on the board of directors of Rosneft.
Oh, the halcyon days of yore, when Putin allowed other people to stand closer than 2 meters from him.

@Lambie Your operating system should a setting for the sound of an alert or new email, whatever it is that the message uses.

A deputy from the Russian region of Tuva came to Moscow with this flag of his region. As he approached the Red Square, he was surrounded by 10 policemen with clubs and told to scoot away.

I wonder how precise are hair cortisol measurements.

Hair cortisol?

4:41 AM
A man in Russia transferred some money to a foreign fund that helps Ukrainian civilians.
The next day, his flat was raided by four FSB men in full battle gear.
They pushed him against the wall of his flat, and then issued a "warning" not to conduct such extremist activities in the future. The whole operation against this criminal was filmed and aired by the RIA NOVOSTI, a state news agency.

@Mitch oh, whoops, slip of the tongue. I suspect usernumbers is Jasper but I dunno for sure
@Robusto well, of course I made that up. Our inner mad genius always comes out when we want to procrastinate
@CowperKettle I feel much safer already and I'm two thousand kilometers away

@M.A.R. He's probably still studying for a virologist.

@CowperKettle Did she get death threats just for dancing with Putin?

@FaheemMitha She probably helped Putin in his foreign policies
She was on the board of Rosneft

12:53 PM
Of course, that does not justify some crazy guy's intimidating messages to her.

1:06 PM
@CowperKettle Of course. That's what you get when you're on a Chinese company's payroll.

Today Russia blocked the transhipment of Kazakhstan's oil over a pipeline for 30 days for "environmental review".
Kazakhstan exports 80% of its oil by this route.
Putin didn't like \Kazakhstan's President statement that he would not recognize LNR and DNR.
And a mysterious fire broke out at a Kazakh oil field.

@CowperKettle Should I know what Rosneft is, because I dont?

You can google

@M.A.R. Possibly. Also possibly not. And that doesn't cover all the alternatives.
@CowperKettle Pipelines seem like a continuous line of indefensible single point failures.

@CowperKettle Hmm worrying.
It was not long ago that the Kazakh government called in Russian troops to quell protests.

@Cerberus Yes, and the regime in Kazakhstan is highly oppressive.

But 20% higher than in May this year. This May was the bottom of the chart.

@Cerberus Russia and Iran have been blocking the plans for trans-Caspian pipelines for years, guarding their own interests.
The Trans-Caspian Gas Pipeline (Azerbaijani: Transxəzər boru xətti, Turkmen: Transhazar turbaly geçiriji) is a proposed subsea pipeline between Türkmenbaşy in Turkmenistan, and Baku in Azerbaijan. According to some proposals it will also include a connection between the Tengiz Field in Kazakhstan, and Türkmenbaşy. The Trans-Caspian Gas Pipeline project is purposed to transport natural gas from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan to European Union member countries, circumventing both Russia and Iran. It is also considered as a natural eastward extension of Southern Gas Corridor. This project attract...
Without such a pipeline, Kazakhstan will have to go cap-in-hand to Putin.
Adverb: cap in hand (not comparable)
  1. (idiomatic) In a humble and respectful manner.

It would probably benefit from a pipeline

But why not get additional money for transfer?

Joseph Meister (21 February 1876 – 24 June 1940) was the first person to be inoculated against rabies by Louis Pasteur, and likely the first person to be successfully treated for the infection. == History == In 1885, nine-year-old Meister was badly bitten by a supposedly rabid dog. After consulting with Alfred Vulpian and Jacques-Joseph Grancher and obtaining their assistance, Louis Pasteur agreed to inoculate the boy with spinal tissue from rabid rabbits, which he had successfully used to prevent rabies in dogs. The treatment was successful and the boy did not develop rabies. As an adult, Meister...

@tchrist Where is that answer (or was it a chat comment) where you explained all the ways to have opposites? I just answered a question about words for opposite like relations but as I submitted I realized that you had said something about it before.
