40 (forty) is the natural number following 39 and preceding 41. Notwithstanding being related to the word "four" (4), 40 is spelled "forty", and not "fourty". A billion Roman Catholics believe in the Trinity, the Roman triplet is a rhetorical cadence, workers heave sacks into trucks "on the count of three" and so on. "Forty" is a Biblical number: ("it rained for 40 days and 40 nights", and the number crops up everywhere there. Similarly 7 is a "lucky" number in many cultures (it combines 3, the "masculine" number, with 4, the "feminine" number) and so on.

Yeah, it was quite the to do when he was around, I'm surprised he wasn't simply banned from all SE sites honestly.

It became apparently after a while that he's just trolling sites. We found a long trail of forums around the net that have banned him. Actually we're pretty sure it's more than one person, the differences in writing seem to suggest at least two, probably three people.

The Coen brothers have produced some head-scratchers. I thought The Ladykillers sucked, and Burn After Reading left me puzzled.

But Fargo, The Big Lebowski, Miller's Crossing, and No Country for Old Men are among the best films ever made.
