@CowperKettle: Look what I found on YouTube:

1:58 AM
@Robusto Have you ever used things like handlebar mittens?

@Cerberus You mean the ones that look like lobster claws?

I suppose!

Yeah, no.

You probably don't need them where you live now?
How do you feel about them?

@Cerberus Correct. I just use regular knit gloves when it's cold enough.
@Cerberus I wouldn't like my hands to be "tied" to the handlebars like that.

2:00 AM
Reviewers say it's very easy to get your hands out.
I was worried about that too.

Also, much of the time I'm in the drops anyway, and they don't protect you down there.
@Cerberus Yeah, they say that. And it's easy if you pull your hand out the back. But sometimes you're in a situation where you'd want to go left or right or forward.

Drops?
This looks very easy.
But it's a different type.

@Cerberus He's in the drops there.

Oh, the lower handles?

Yes.
For getting you lower into the wind.

2:03 AM
There probably exist types that fit on there too.

Pain in the ass, though.

Yeah?

Unless it's below freezing I get warm enough to take my gloves off anyway.
I just use my fingerless cycling gloves then.
The ones with the padding.
@Cerberus Yeah. Going back and forth. Freedom of motion is important to me.

What if it's freezing?
OK.

Then I keep my gloves on.

2:06 AM
But do you have any experience with these things?
Or do you know people who use them?

People in my club use them.

How do they feel about them?

They tend to be popular with women and slower riders.
The ones that use them swear by them.

Ah.
Thanks.

But only about 10% use them.

2:07 AM
I will consider them next winter.
At 5 degrees, it is no longer necessary here.
And it will not get any colder this season.

5 °C is cold. It was >20 °C here today.
I rode in shirtsleeves and shorts.
Well, knickers. It was chilly starting out.

Yeah it was around 16 on my Birthday, two weeks ago.
In your knickers, really?

It's not what you think.

Hehe.
I know.

3/4 length cycling pants.
@Cerberus You can get booties for your feet too. I also never use those.

2:11 AM
Yeah like knickerbockers.
@Robusto Hmm that I might consider more dangerous.
Besides, my feet never get nearly as cold as my hands.

Your knickers?

I have ones like those.

I know that's what they originally were. Cycling clothiers borrowed the term.
The only time I really get cold is if I do a long climb in cold weather that gets me sweating, then turn around and tear ass down the hill. Then I can get really cold.

2:16 AM
What was the lowest temperature at your location this winter?

A couple of days it got to about -10 °C at night
The low tomorrow morning will be about 9 °C.

Ah, that is cold.

Meh.

2:44 AM
Right now in Yekaterinburg

Cool.

It's minus 23°C in Koltsovo, a suburb where the airport is. Interesting. It's only a short ride from here.
15 km away

Cities are often a few degrees warmer than fields.

When I read newsfeeds, I wish there was some filter that would prevent me from seeing any news about the British Royal Family. It's the epitome of junk news.

@Robusto well, that's the question, isn't it. Are Pink Floyd pop. Is Van Halen, for that matter.
Bohemian Rhapsody, I'll give you. That's as pop as it gets.
Also, y'all forgot Blondie.
> Hi every one! I am a new member of this club! I don't know about musescore now...T^T So I need your help! If you have any questions, please be kind enough to answer them.^^ Thank you!!!:) W
We should make that a rule on ELU. If you have a question, answer it. Everything else is just unkind.

  1. a mixing, mingling
  2. intercourse
  3. sexual intercourse
  4. commerce
Wow, it's an old Greek word.

@Robusto Thank you! I get everything on RuTracker
A huge bittorrent tracker
I dowloaded a great folk album there: rutracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5823256
Not now; several months ago. That's how I learned about Jean Ritchie and The Kingston Trio.
Great gal, great guys.

@RegDwigнt I don't think "pop" has to mean bad music. I didn't think of Pink Floyd as pop back in the day, but they have reached such a wide audience (slowly) that what else could they be?

@CowperKettle I haven't seen that before.

2:12 PM
@Cerberus: A friend wants to buy a PC for school and gaming for his high-school-age son. You spent ~$800, IIRC. He wants to spend a bit more, about $1200. Do you have any ideas/suggestions for a good but cheap graphics card?

Looks like the Indians included Mahabharata into their constitution.

4:32 PM
@Robusto "let the nerds have their fun"
@CowperKettle This doesn't say anything at all to me beyond whether a state has a constitution or not. Most every constitution has a legal system behind it, and the cutoff between the primary text and the running detailed commentary of the legal system interpreting it and putting it into practice is pretty arbitrary.

4:52 PM
Yes, I agree

@Robusto neither do I, but that's not for me to decide. I don't come up with them categories.
And, like, by that definition Bach and Chopin and Stravinsky are pop.
And again, not that I'd disagree. It's just that others well might.

@CowperKettle yeah it was pretty cool when I learned about these too (their Persian counterparts, 'rooyan' and 'janin')
