what

Sugar is especially important and that's why the formula is spelled out
@RegDwigнt What's a cryptogram?
I came in to make a joke but I forgot.

Q: Do I put the salt in water to rid a bad spirit?? Or dry salt?

AndronI've had a spirit messing with me. Something I invited in accidentally. The cross of JESUS has worked but I heard of salt as well. Thought a little extra would help

english.stackexchange.com/questions/509257/… "I punched the man's nose, who cried in pain."
Sounds like a Lyttle Lytton entry. :D
Too bad you can't write:
"I punched the man, who cried in pain, 's nose."

1:11 PM
@TannerSwett I'm sure you can do that in some language in New Guinea, Georgia, or Germany.

I wonder if that would work in Polish.
Uderzyłem mężczyzny, który płakał z bólu, nos.
Literally: "I punched the man's, who cried in pain, nose."
I'm not a Polish speaker, so I don't know how terrible that sentence sounds.
Also, "płakał" is "cried (shed tears)," not "cried (shouted, yelped)."

@Mitch @Tanner it's common enough in Persian and prescriptivists have a bone to pick with it.

@RegDwigнt I didn't get 7 presents today. I got 0.

Wait, no, I confused that with something else.

Huh, Wikipedia has a very interesting translation of the opening of Beowulf.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_English#Beowulf - "What! We of Gare-Danes in yore-days, of thede-kings, did thrum frayne, how those athelings did ellen freme. Oft did Scyld Scefing of scather threats of many maegths, of mead-settees atee, and ugg earls. Sith erst he worthed in fewship found, he of this frover abode, and waxed under welkin, and amid worthmind threed oth that him each of those umsitters over whale-road hear should, and yeme yield. That was a good king!"
It's essentially just the original text with each Old English word replaced by its Modern English descendant—or what its descendant would be, if it doesn't have one.
There are also content words added, like "of" and "did."
