To me the point of the creators seemed to be to show how large Africa is. In which case taking shapes into account proves the opposite.

As I commented, this is a trivial question for someone who can look into the future. Indeed any question is. Because then you simply look to the point in the future where you already know the answer.

If you are able to look into the future but have a question, that means that question cannot have an answer.

Seeing that picture just after understanding what the website does, I think I would be lucky to correctly identify 6 shapes.

Even after cobbling it together, I couldn't identify half the shapes if my life depended upon it (except for being able to cheat)

That context doesn't apply nowadays in almost any circumstances except for maybe some superposh men's club. (ie, old RP people)

In other possibly not relevant news, Ed Tanguay, the author of that answer, has all of his answers in the first week of the opening of ELU, and then stopped.

He didn't fall off the face of the earth but he stopped answering entirely after that week.

I sorta recognized the name (it stands out) but couldn't remember from where. His answers are all well-up-voted. Could be that's just how the start of the site worked.

The answers aren't awful, and maybe with the newness of the site, those answers worked well for people. (but also note that Mari-Lou's research showed that at least foe the answer in question there was a constistent up-voting pattern over the years.

when I first knew SE and even hadn't registered, I read some answers and had strong wish to comment with my thought, but can't do that.

in Quora, you can do that no matter whether you have asked or answered questions getting upvotes.
