What is the etymology of the suffix '-ness'? I have come across it in OE texts but always assumed it was a later borrowing.

Q: Why I can't say "You are left"?

When arguing with someone and he gives me a facts and I have to admit that "He is right." , but when he is wrong why I can't say "You are left." Why right is used in sentences when you want to say that something is correct, or someone. But left can't be used. Is there rule or "Right" as a side, ...
