I was an hour away from getting it here but the asker moved the checkbox!

I guess it needs to be done on a high-churn site like SO. there was a similar one last year (for tumbleweed?)

Ste
Yeah, I asked a Siebel question yesterday that hasn't been answered. Wonder if I can get it by answering myself

only one way to find out. make the answer very average

Ste
12 hour wait for a hat though....

Did you think the Hobbit movies were longer than they should be? They were. On average, they are more than 2x longer than the next longest film adaptation and 4x longer than the original LoTR movies (screen-time relative to pages of source material)

Mark Kermode did a similar* analysis last year:
forget minutes per page, he breaks it down to the more useful* frames per letter

So what is the secret 'gold Spock' hat for? Upvoting an accepted answer on meta?

Fascinating, Ma'am - for upvoting a highly-voted question (at least 25 votes already)

Q: Winter Bash 2014 Secret Hats

KevinSo far, I've unlocked one of the secret hats. I'm wondering what other secret hats are out there and how to earn them?

Fascinating, Ma'am is earned by upvoting a question satisfying certain requirements (note, accepted answer is not a prerequisite):

that's right! I upvoted Mitch's question

yesterday, by Hugo
gold Spock is upvoting a question that has somewhere more than 40 votes

yeah, that's where I read it

Oh. That was you.

"somewhere more than 40" being sort of the same as "at least 25" :)

10K views? There';s not many like that

you only need one

Q: What does "thot" mean and when was it first used?

HugoThe word thot is all over Twitter. The @lovihatibot Twitterbot routinely finds it in searches for "I love the word [X]" and "I hate the word [X]", in fact it's the most hated word and third most loved word (presumably use in one category feeding the other). Similarly it's the second most commo...

Matt ЭлленI understand that when you waive something you forego it or give it up. e.g. I waive my [right to] free coffee. A: "a while" vs "awhile"

We will probably need to collude for Red Baron too
No?

Find an open question sitting at -2 that you can give a good answer to. Downvote to -3. Give your good answer. Edit question. Upvote from -3 to -1.
Still needs work, but is possible.
Probably not cool to use superpowers to make that happen, but whateverz.
Remember, good answer just means one people will upvote.
It doesn’t mean good.
Funny often works.

Have you tested that?

Superpowers means finding a close duplicate at -2 and fixing it using Gold Tag Badge powers.

You cannot get hats on per-site metas.
Only on MetaMeta.
And I didn’t use superpowers to fix that one, either.

@tchrist how dowes that won wurk?

It’s like a Minor Reversal.
The question has to be at -3 when answered.

2:51 PM
Actually, why am I even asking. I'm not really into hats this year.

Then your answer has to get to +5 and the question to +3.

@tchrist but it's at minus one. And that's from myself.

@RegDwigнt Yes, but it was at -3 before I edited it. Now you can upvote it.
I answered while it was at -3.

Okay okay I'm a bit slow on the uptake.

At least I didn’t find closed dup on a SWR to fix. :)

I wonder when this started.

friends of mine called the sport "handegg" while i was at university

CerberusThis is the real etymology of pizza, from the Etymologiebank: Pizza is afkomstig van een adjectiefvorm pittea bij pitta, dat in het hele gebied van het vroegere Byzantijnse Rijk voorkomt en uiteindelijk afkomstig is van het Aramese woord pitta voor ‘brood’. — http://www.etymologiebank.nl/tref...

@MattЭллен You did! But!

@RegDwigнt The field goal is always scored.
it's like a free point

@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 no it is not.

@RegDwigнt I've edited the post just for you

Hat ordering on liederboard confuses me.

@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 it is even wronger now. The field goal is not obligatory.
> The scoring team is also awarded the opportunity for an extra point or a two-point conversion.
You can get 6, or 7, or 8. And it's entirely up to you.

3:49 PM
I read that same wikipedia page.

Well, then.

Nobody is going to forego the opportunity for an extra point

And again, you have to invest extra effort into the extra point. It is not free. You can miss. And it happens quite often actually. So you only get 6.

3:52 PM
No probs.

@skullpatrol for all I care, it can have happened exactly zero times. That still makes 6 points for the actual touchdown.
@skullpatrol Besides, I can only speak from own experience. And from the three games I've seen, in two of them it did happen. That's 66% of all games.

Ste
I now have hand job, I mean egg...

Yes @RegDwigнt 6 + 1 = 7 for a converted touchdown @RegDwigнt

Oh playing semantics now. Well, the hat ain't called "converted". :P
I am sure the Marsian touchdown is worth 16 points. But the hat ain't called "Marsian", either.

@Robusto Indeed, I use XP on my main computer. But I use another computer at my parents' house, and I have a virtual machine with 7.

3:55 PM
They don't miss often in the NFL @RegDwigнt

Anyway, it's been fun, but I must be running soon.
@skullpatrol then why do they only show me games in which they do?
Am I some kind of VIP?

@RegDwigнt Over 90% of field goals after touchdown are made. That means that for all practical purposes, a touchdown is 7 points, because when the handegg reaches the endzone, it's just a formality of getting that 7th point.

@RegDwigнt missing is rare

@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 I don't believe stats I haven't forged myself. They have not included my attempts at scoring field goals.

according to that article it's more l ik 99% of extra points are scored.

3:57 PM
Yeah that's NFL. That is not all games. That's like 0.1% of all games.

my work here is done.

Ste
Anybody recommend anywhere nice to eat in Versailles?

take it up with the SE people then, who should make the handegg scoring rules different.

But that's what I've been saying all along.

Going for 2 points is risky @RegDwigнt

3:59 PM
@skullpatrol so is stepping on the grass. That's why they put on a fucking 20-ton full-body armor before approaching it.

It is what it is
