1:00 AM
@KitFox Thanks Ms Fox haha

@Arrowfar That's not so bad! I don't think height is too important.

@medica Make sure it ends on .jpg, .png etc.

user116848
@Mahnax Good thing you agree. But some pretty girls are very shallow to think that

@Arrowfar If your height is near the average in your area, you're fine.

@Arrowfar Ah, don't generalize so. You will find someone.

user116848
1:01 AM
I agree

user116848
lol

@Cerberus We really do call it a diaeresis, but do you mean gastroœ̈sophageal or gastroœ̈sophageäl or gastroësophageal or gastroësophageäl? :)

@Cerberus I downloaded to my computer first, is that what I'm supposed to do?

@Arrowfar Well then those are the pretty girls you don't want.

@medica No :) Go to google images. Find a picture. Click it. Then click the "view image" button, and copy the URL.

1:02 AM
@medica you can do it directly in the box

OK, let me try that

user116848
@KitFox 100% agree :)

@tchrist The first one, of course. I prefer to reserve the word diaeresis for something else, or for the phenomenon—not the mark. The same applies to ellipsis.

save them for me

@medica No: that is unnecessary.

1:03 AM
Yay!!!

Congrats.

Awww

so happy!
thank you all!

1:03 AM
@medica Did you use the Upload button? Because you know you never need to use that button for an image that is already on the Internet.

@Cerberus See how much better that looks than anything your browzer showed you?

Time to get back to studying. I'm so close to being done exams, I can't wait.
I've had far too many.

Good luck.

Bai.

@Mahnax Just wait till you turn 50.

1:04 AM
Thanks @Kit. I hope you have a relaxing night from here on out.

I clicked on view image then copied what was in the browser.

@medica Perfect!

@tchrist Mmm in what regard?
@medica Straight into the typing box?

@Mahnax Bonne chance!
@Cerberus yes.

@medica Merci!! Au revoir.

1:05 AM
I mean, directly. Musn't upset the straights.

a demain.

@medica Ah OK, then you have nothing more to learn.

@Cerberus The browzer misapplies the diacritic.

@Mahnax Tea will help, I think. If it ever finishes steeping. glares at tea

@tchrist I was going to say, we don't use diacritics over esophageal

1:07 AM

@Cerberus Yours put it over just the last half of the OE digraph. Notice how in my Terminal window, it centered it correctly.

@medica I hope you're not including us!

@Cerberus I am so upset you said that.

@tchrist Yes, well, I think the last half is fine.

no, only us americans

1:08 AM
Wait. I'm not straight.
Never mind.

Up-set, as in erect?
Or as it straightened up?

Does "appropriateness" depend completely on context?

@medica Tom lives in Colorado, not America.
@skullpatrol Yes.

haha.

@Cerberus Neither, you bigot.
miffed

1:10 AM
@medica I know. :) But you use a hyphen for gastro-esuffleuppagus, I bet.

@KitFox You're saying it as if it were something bad.

@tchrist gastro-esuffleuppagus, lolol

@KitFox Lie perfectly straight.

Um.
Oh right. @Mr.Shiny put me off women forever.

@Cerberus You’re too easily appeased.

1:12 AM
@KitFox I have that effect on women.

You were into women?

@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 And on men as well? :)

that doesn't leave much^

@tchrist Hm. That might explain all the guys that hit on me.

@tchrist I suppose you could say a trema on the second half would indicate that both elements of the ligature must be getrennt. That would not be good.

1:14 AM
@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 There are some people who are so stunning that even the dogs and cows take after them.

@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 Can we switch places?

@tchrist Hm, no. The other day, though, a cat took after me.
@Cerberus lol, too many girls hit on you?

DID I TELL YOU where I went today? To a kitty café!!

@tchrist My goats followed me everyehrer. Does that count?w

@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 Domestic or wild?

1:15 AM
@Cerberus awww....

@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 Well, yes. Each is one too many.
@tchrist From the shelter.

Mary had a little lamb. . . .

@tchrist or 8 goats...

@medica It was like a hipster café, but with a special petting room attached.
There were 6 kittens...

@Cerberus that sounds like fun

1:16 AM
@tchrist it looked domestic. But it had no collar. I assume that a wild cat wouldn't be as clean as this one was. I was walking down the street with a friend, and the cat came out of the long grass on some unkempt lawn and came straight for me.

It was fun.

@medica The polite term is that eight satyrs took after you.

It's eyes were pale, so I thought it was maybe blind, and I stepped aside, but it corrected course and started rubbing itself on my legs.

Calling them goats will just get theirs.

I wish, but no, they were only my nanny goats.

1:17 AM
@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 And it was a boy?

@Cerberus I don't know

That's not a very straight thing to say.

Q: Asking a question "to", "from", or "of"?

user3436926I was just talking with someone about the rule regarding "asking a question to/from/of". I am natively Dutch, and to me, "to" makes the most sense intuitively, since in Dutch grammar you pose a question, you don't ask it. I'm aware however that "to" is incorrect in English. The person I was talk...

Anyway, after I petted it a bit, it left me and went to my friend (a woman) and then turned right around and came back to me.

There was another Dutcher saying funny things in the last hour or three in answers. Forget where.

1:18 AM
@tchrist But you would think I was made of corn and mollasses, the way they followed me everywhere.
@Cerberus awww... does it make you want to get one?

Aww.

@medica mollasses = molluscoid equines
Or just soft ones.

@medica It did. For almost the rest of the day. Until I considered the "cat hair in the Lego" problem.

@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 Petted is one of those funny ones.

@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 cats are really good pets.

1:20 AM
@medica I'm sure. I'm not really a pet person, though. And I'm very serious about my Lego.

I guess!

@tchrist Hmm but this question wasn't so bad, was it?

Oh speaking of LEGO, my little son was given two little LEGO Friends kits for his birthday. Rats.

We often found mice tails among the Lego.

@KitFox Friends is fine. It's lego. pastel colours. The mini-dolls are annoying.

1:22 AM
No, no, these are different.

Wow.

These are just a few pieces, still minifigs.

Impressive.
You should make that your Tinder picture.
Except that you don't use it.

@Cerberus ??? :-0

Those of you who remember the pic a few months back will note that the Lego boxes have now overfilled the shelf and are starting a pile on the floor.

1:24 AM
@Cerberus I’m afraid of tremas, er tremae, er tremata.

And I'm not divorced yet! My wife is awesome.

Tomás trema el trema.

@medica Presents from the cats.
@tchrist Yes, tremata.

unabides

@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 You need a box for the boxes!

1:25 AM
@Cerberus Oh, that makes sense now! much, much better.

@Cerberus Yeah. Srsly.

In the kitty café. There were more.

@Cerberus oh, so cute!

I think the café was sponsored by those cardboard litter boxes.
One cat refused to understand the product he was supposed to sell:

1:27 AM
haha!

Please disregard the "Latin" on the box. I don't know what they were trying to do.

@Cerberus It's the endorsement cat. The one who stays in the box to prove how wonderful it is.

It is a litter box!!
Not a too-small-normal-box.

ewwww.....

Yes.

1:29 AM
(skin crawls at thought of cat sleeping on kitty litter!)
Um, I'd pass on holding that one.

Heh.
Perhaps no cat had pissed in that one yet.

nice save!

It's possible!

Well, I have to get going. ttyl.

@Cerberus Lego just became not fun anymore

1:34 AM
:-) better that the alternative!
bye
I miss game of thrones...

@Mr.ShinyandNew安宇 Bye!
@Mitch Yeah, well, we just tossed them aside.

I think I will read my book. The hero is about to have a fight to the death.

and kept the mouse tails? yechh.
@medica Oh, I read that one.
It's ends badly.

hahaha!
someone dies!
ttfn

1:57 AM

I know that one.
It's from a film called The Rabbits. By Hitchcock, I think it was?

emits bunny-sounds

Nooo!
Send in the cats!

Ouch!
Many a time I have set a step on that walk.
Only to scream in pain even after meeting just one brick.

2:32 AM
sips grapefruit ale
Mmm.

Is that a mix?

Right.
Funny.

Funny?
It's yummy!

2:51 AM
@Mahnax I like kriek lambic.
Kriek lambic is a style of Belgian beer, made by fermenting lambic with sour Morello cherries. The name is derived from the Flemish word for this type of cherry (kriek). Traditionally "Schaarbeekse krieken" (a rare Belgian Morello variety) from the area around Brussels are used. As the Schaarbeek type cherries have become more difficult to find, some brewers have replaced these (partly or completely) with other varieties of sour cherries, sometimes imported. Traditionally, kriek is made by breweries in and around Brussels using lambic beer to which sour cherries (with the pits) are added...

@tchrist Never tried it!

Oh great, now I’m contributing to the delinquency of a minor. :(

@tchrist Oh, gracious.

De nada

thwack
That's not the usual use of thwack here, but it'll do.

2:55 AM
Why do I always think @snailboat has a kitten icon?

@tchrist You love kittens so much that your brain tries to make you see more of them than you actually see?
This is the most logical answer.

The little icon looks like Lorin curled up in a ball, as he so often is. Right colors almost and everything. And that cute little face peering out from the tail wrapped around his head.

Anonymous

@tchrist Lorin is adorable and I want to pet him.

@snailboat It’s different embiggened.
@Mahnax He is, he is.

2:58 AM
@tchrist Do you know what breed he is? Mix?

“American Longhair” is all they say. But he has only two coats, not three like a Maine coon.
He still sits out in the snow when any normal cat like Randy is indoors keeping warm.
