11:00 PM
Certain (younger) people at $job have been recently astounded to learn that I am actually a very good C programmer.
They seemed to have thought I program in Perl because I don’t know C.
Whereas in fact, I program in Perl because I do know C.

Damn kids think they know everything.

And I hate saying “very good” but most of them are so um not.

Are they making you drive in more often?

Q: Case of Pronoun

Linda JI want to know _ you talked to. (who or whom) I want to know _ the culprit is. (who or whom)

@cornbreadninja麵包忍者 No, these are the furriers.

11:03 PM
I couldn't help reading this question title as “case is the collective noun for pronouns.”

How much does a case of pronouns go for these days?

$25, same as in town

> Attention all passengers: could the person who left a stash of gold bars and a pile of banknotes in the luggage deposit at Cologne's main railway station kindly contact German police? That was the appeal that police in the western German city issued Friday for information to track down the owner of the several kilos (pounds) of gold and a six-figure sum of euros in cash.
Shouldn’t that be “a six-figure sum of euros (dollars) in cash”?

identical?

Color me confused.

11:10 PM
The wrote “(pounds)”. Shouldn’t they translate the rest of it, too?

s/translate/obfuscate

I hate half-translated artículos.
Like, what happened to “(Köln)”?

I don't hate anything at all right now, empty feeling.

@tchrist ohhhh, right.

> Even though it's 2013, corporal punishment is allowed in public schools throughout the country, especially in the South. The 19 states that allow spanking in schools are: Arkansas, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Arizona, Texas, Missouri, Colorado, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Wyoming.
Trust me: the teacher would go to jail, quickly, if they tried that anywhere near here in Colorado.
Weird sort order, eh?
Neither alphabetical nor by longitude and latitude.

11:19 PM
I think it's garden path order.

I’m lost.

Perhaps they used BrokenSort.
Worse than bogosort.
The first half of the list is sorted. Perhaps there's a bug in their partition function.

@BraddSzonye have you seen this?

@BraddSzonye I saw that.

@JohanLarsson Oh that's awesome.

11:25 PM
they sure know how to dance

@tchrist As would they in Massachusetts.
@cornbreadninja麵包忍者 What, no macaroni?

Send your kids to the South for boarding school, where there’s no distinction between “Dixie discipline” and “Dixie goes medieval all over your ass”.
Not much as recruitment posters go.
Well, unless you think they “need” it.

11:42 PM

Huh, I'd never heard of that before.

@Robusto sure, but now I must go eat Mexican.

@cornbreadninja麵包忍者 Ay, carumba!

Never occurred to me that there was a term for “part-of-speech-ifiers”

Well, it’s different from .
@cornbreadninja麵包忍者 If Mex I can, then Tex thou canst.
Tomorrow was to be a big volunteer day for repairing various trails damaged by our deluge. Unfortunately, it’s just been cancelled — due to rain.
> With a little sake in our system, we muster the nerve to try the sea urchin bruschetta. It comes with bread coated in cheese and fried, alongside a modest pile of squishy uni, sea urchin, to spread on top.
Mm, uni.
I once heard that a sea urchin has only kinds of bits.
The pointy bits, and the naughty bits.
And you aren’t eating the pointy bits.
> Think of the okonomiyaki as a savory pancake. It arrives out of the oven with tiny dancing bonito (fish) flakes on top. It’s filled with bacon, octopus, squid and veggies. If the presentation of the uni is too real for you, this is a brilliant way to get a taste of tradition with the critters disguised in batter.
