@Xirema If you are interested in another simulation, I'm trying to figure out some things about Xanathar's Guide to Everything's gambling downtime activity. I have three characters with specific stats, and I'm trying to see how much gold they can be expected to have after each week. I've managed to calculate the probabilities of return percentages, but can't figure out an easy way to model many weeks.
Character 1 (the best gambler) has:
- 26.566% chance of +200%
- 45.053% chance of +150%
- 24.194% chance of -50%
- 4.186% chance of -200%
Character 2 has:
- 20.995% chance of +200%
- 43.805% chance of +150%
- 29.005% chance of -50%
- 6.195% chance of -200%
Character 3 has:
- 19.767% chance of +200%
- 42.584% chance of +150%
- 30.431% chance of -50%
- 7.218% chance of -200%
And since you can gamble with 1000 GP maximum per person per workweek, say you assign all your gold to C1 if SGP (starting_gold_pieces) < 1000, 1000 GP to C1 and the rest to C2 if 1000 < SGP < 2000, 1000 GP to C1 and C2 and the rest to C3 if 2000 < SGP < 3000, and 1000 to each if 3000 < SGP
I'd like to know the expected gold after 1-20 weeks
(if you aren't interested, I can do without; just thought it would be a fun little project)
If you want to generalize, the Insight, Deception, and Intimidation stats are:
Character 1: +9, +9, +6
Character 2: +5, +8, +8
Character 3: +6, +7, +7
[and by +200% I mean you get back what you put in and 200% more, so a 50 GP use would mean 150 GP for the bank at the end of the workweek; while -50% means 25 GP back in, and -200% means -100 GP to the bank]
Here's the sheet I've been working with:
