MO chat is not used that much so far. You have seen yourself that the main MSE chatroom is very lively. So if you ask a question there, it can be buried among chitchat and other discussions.

Posting it in a specialized chatroom is kind of a compromise.

More people attend main chatroom - so if you post there, more people will see it for a very short period.

Posting in a specialized chatroom means that it will be visible longer. But only for the people who visit that chatroom.
