The italicised word asterisks in your question above is displayed correctly for me on XP Pro 32bits SP3, both in Chrome and in Firefox, both latest version (presumably). @medica And I appreciate the concern. I'd rather err on the side of safety. And nobody got their knickers in a twist at the practice. The nurse who was delegated to talk to me was very nice about it, and gave me the impression that she and the doctor both placed my concerns above any ego issues.

@skullpatrol His name is spelled queerly: it should rightly be Mariano Suárez-Álvarez. If he is going to write the accent on Suárez, then he should write the one that happens on Álvarez too, because you can’t say alvaREZ stressed at the end. It has to be ALvarez with the stress at the beginning. The -ez is like English -son, and it never receives stress. People who don’t bother with formally required accent marks on capital letters are making a common error unsanctioned by the Academy.
