@WillHunting a shower that uses mains electricity to heat the water and effect the flow rate of the water.

@Vitaly No, not exactly. I am obviously not explaining myself well.
@Gigili Like ATM machine.

hi @KitFox :)

Hiya!

How the dickens are you?

Pretty good. You?
Are you drunk?
Oh, right. It's St. Patty's Day.

12:39 AM
Is it so obvious?
I mean, I can't tell that I'm typing these words with any less alacrity

Well, naturally. You likely feel you are doing even better than usual.

Indeed :D

If I still celebrated, we would hoist a pint with you from this shore.

Plus we beat Ireland at Rugby.

Cheesae's. So much activitae. You people don't have nights where you live?

12:41 AM
I. You. isn't it night where you are?

It's 1:41.

But wife's outta house and I'm sorting LEGO, so I'm excused.
Plus I'm not active here.

LOL

I just posted a huge post on meta, that should suffice for the next six months. Which is how far back my last meta post is.

12:43 AM
but happy St. Patrick's yesterday to you, Reg

Oh!
Was it so?

Yes it was :)

I knew I should have got myself wasted. Wait a minute, I did!

Yay for you guys!

12:44 AM
Except it was with Moskovskaya rather than with Guinneae's, but hell, you take what you get.

Maybe I'll crack open a bottle of wine. Seems rather an insult to my Irish heritage though.

Add some bog water.

Hahaha.

Quite. I don't like Guinness myself, so I enjoyed cider and alcoholic's ginger beer

I named my boys in an Irish fashion, I suppose that exempts me.

12:45 AM
yeah

Saint Kit and Patrick Fox?

I don't enven know of any Irish heritage I have

Those are two hells of a name.

Very funny.

Oh come on now I have to remove that, too.

12:46 AM
You didn't have to!

Oh! I get it now

It takes a minute without a drink.

Our last name is also very Irish.

Psst. Last names are capitalized in English, so it's Also Very Irish.

12:48 AM
:D

I'm not sure of the origin of Ellen as a surname

Ask ABBA.

I figure the eldest will always be looking out for the youngest.
Ellen is Viking, innit?

apparently it's from Helen
but that just seems silly

12:49 AM
Oh. Greek.
> ultimately derives from the Greek “ele” meaning “light,” “torch” or “bright.”

Hell, enic!

> ENICs - Employers National Insurance contributions. This is a deduction made direct from gross pay based on earnings.
well, I do pay that

Q: What does the ‘-lite’ in Rick Santrum's ‘We're not just an Obama-lite’ mean?

Yoichi OishiI found the word, ‘Obama-lite’ in the headline of the Time magazine article (March 17) , titled “Santo: “We’re Not Just An Obama-Lite.” The article quotes the following remark of Rick Santrum aired on a Missouri radio: "If we keep winning and doing well and we keep winning the states were suppo...

A: What does “Japan-lite problems” mean?

Matt ЭлленThe -lite suffix is added as a way of implying a diminutive form of the noun it is modifying. It draws from the word light meaning not heavy: You can see the definition at dictionary.com: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/light light2 adjective — 1. of little weight; not heavy: a light...

Hm. Post him a comment.

He's confused "lite" and "ite."

@KitFox Still cold up in them thar hills?

In his question, I mean, he starts with "lite" but ends with "ite."
@MattЭллен It was gorgeous today. My eldest actually told me that he didn't want to go in and play video games. He was having too much fun playing in the mud. So I let him play outside for another hour.

1:00 AM
yeah, he seems to have got an idea that lite and ite are related
@KitFox excellent :D

And I tried to stay awake, sitting on the steps and occasionally nuking some bad guys.

it's an important role. or the house gets all thebad guys in it

Exactly.
"Look out, Mommy, he's going to flank you!"

I can't look up words at that speed.
Matrix, nuking, neutralize, mommy... aaaaah.

"Dang, it's got a busted thermocoupler. We better swap it out before the whole thing goes bad."

oh man, those thermocouplers ain't cheap

It makes me wonder what I am doing to my child.

Teaching him knowledge essential for going back in time to save you from the meanies.

@MattЭллен What are you talking about? Thermocouplers are a dime a dozen.

1:06 AM
Moore's Law.

@KitFox oh, well maybe I'm going to the wrong stores

I already decided that I need to teach him how to fight properly, just in case.

I should stop buying the diamond thermocouplers

Since I am obviously cultivating him for geekdom.

1:07 AM
I suppose his younger brother will be his bodyguard.

yes, self defence is the optimum solution

I was thinking reign of terror, but we'll take your interpretation.

Yes. That too.

Yeah. You are not thou.

@KitFox starred

@Vitaly You honor me.

@Vitaly worse still, most manipulators are stupid themselves.

giggles
Maybe I should give more thought to my master plan.

1:15 AM
Gee, Brain, what do you want to do tonight?

Pinky, are you thinking what I'm thinking?

The same thing we do every night, Pinky
Try to figure out girls take over the world

Hahaha
Why yes, Brain, but burlap chafes me so.

You misspelled "t te"

Where's Martha anyway?
Oh, and five months ago someone actually called nohat "not really a language enthusiast", and I only read it now.

@matt But aren't showers nearly all power showers these days in the homes? Maybe it depends on which country.

user19161
Perhaps we need to call the fans power fans too, since there are some you use manually with your hand.

user19161
@reg If power showers show power, then power fans like power.

@WillHunting mine is not! water pressure is from the plumbing alone and the heating is done by my central heating system, not a unit in the bathroom. I'm rocking it old school.

Yeah, nor's mine.
@Gigili - did you get your translation issues sorted?

@MattЭллен I am not an electrician or plumber to understand the subtle distinction here.

@RegDwightѬſ道 All stupidity is contextual and relative.

user19161
@Mahnax Don't play too much skyrim!

11:42 AM
Too much Jameson's last night. Well, it was the time of the year and the time of the day.

11:57 AM
Haha, @Reg closes these feed questions before I can even get a look at them.

I don't even need the feed for that.
I just go to the site and click on every close link that crosses my way.

The odds are you'll be closing a stupid question anyway.

Are you aware that Dschömani is getting a new President in an hour or so?
The election is taking place as we speak.

Merkel ist kaput?

She's no President, you genie.

12:00 PM
@reg has been overtaken by fumble.

Meh, I absolutely don't follow German politics. It is too Byzantine for my taste.
@WillHunting Way to light up a room, Jasper.

user19161
@Robusto You are still safe, don't worry.

Hah. The US invented the German state and its politics. Start to finish.
Anyhow. I'm not really here since I'm watching the election live on TV.
Joachim Gauck (born 24 January 1940; ) is a German politician, Lutheran pastor, and former anti-communist civil rights activist in East Germany. On 19 February 2012, he was agreed on as a nonpartisan consensus candidate for President of Germany in the 2012 election by the government parties Christian Democratic Union (CDU), Christian Social Union (CSU) and Free Democratic Party (FDP), and the opposition Social Democratic Party (SPD) and the Alliance '90/The Greens. During the Revolutions of 1989, he was a co-founder of the New Forum opposition movement in East Germany, which contributed t...

Ronald M. Popeil (born May 3, 1935 in New York City; ) is an American inventor and marketing personality, best known for his direct response marketing company Ronco. He is well known for his appearances in infomercials for the Showtime Rotisserie ("Set it, and forget it!") and for using the phrase, "But wait, there's more!" on television as early as the mid-1950s. Personal life and career Popeil learned his trade from his father, Samuel, who was also an inventor and carny salesman of kitchen-related gadgets such as the Chop-O-Matic and the Veg-O-Matic. The Chop-O-Matic retailed for U...

user19161
@RegDwightѬſ道 I did not know there are pastor politicians.

12:03 PM
@Robusto Haha. You do know what Popel means in German?

Then you would have had a handy political system that you could fit in your pocket and take it wherever you go.

Yeah, booger. But it's spelled Popeil.

Different sameness.

Still, a booger could have invented a decent state if you gave it enough time.

12:04 PM
You did try that with Dubya.

No, he was a goober. Big difference.

Ah. Let me make several notes.

booger ≠ goober

makes several notes

Here, notes have been made for you.

12:07 PM
So far the only person I have witnessed being referred to as yokel was Cletus from the Simpsons.

As you can see, boogers are much more desirable than goobers.
@RegDwightѬſ道 The more common term these days is redneck or cracker.

"Goober" is usually used as a substitute form of address, as in, "Hey, Goober, careful you don't piss on the third rail."
It is always belittling and offensive. And therefore quite handy and serviceable.

Anyways. I only came here to close all questions and add 240 points to our score, instead I closed only some and added 60 to that of our enemy's, so Mission Accomplished and laters.

Bai.

@DavidWallace Uhum, thank you for asking.

So Gauck it is. 991 votes out of 1233. Not bad if you're not Belarus.

Who did you vote for?
BTW, in the category of "learn something new every day":
The brainfuck programming language is an esoteric programming language noted for its extreme minimalism. It is a Turing tarpit, designed to challenge and amuse programmers, and was not made to be suitable for practical use. It was created in 1993 by Urban Müller. The name of the language is generally not capitalized except at the start of a sentence, although it is a proper noun. Language design Urban Müller created brainfuck in 1993 with the intention of designing a language which could be implemented with the smallest possible compiler, inspired by the 1024-byte compiler for the FAL...

Errr.
You are not familiar with that language?

Not till today. I mean, not as an official language.

So perhaps it's for the best that the Germans left the designing of their political system to Americans.

1:48 PM
Well I guess that's the new thing I learned today. Not everyone is aware of brainfuck.
Next thing you tell me, you haven't heard of Piet, either.

I've heard of Piet. Named after Mondrian because modeled after same.

Phew. At least you know something. I was starting to worry.

I like how they call it Barinfuck.
Barin is a landlord in medieval Russia.

Who calls it that?

1:54 PM
Look at the URL you posted.

Oh.
I thought it was one of them Google Easter eggs.
It is the time, after all.

That's the problem with not being able to see the url you post. Also, with clumsy typing.
Today is Easter? Really?
Nah, it comes on April 8 this year.

Haha I made you look it up.
Cheesus, you're a heathen.

And proud of it.
So glad to be not knowing or caring when Easter is. Like, ever.

1:58 PM
Fat lot of good will it do you on Judgment Day.

Oooh, I'm trembling.

Remember, children, God reads this transcript.

See, the great thing about hell is, you finally get rid of all them holier-than-thou Christians. I call that heaven.

Just move out of Palinland.
America is literally surrounded by hell.

Other places have other problems.

2:01 PM
Variance is a bitch.
Speaking of which, jj are kicking my buttocks.

Which are eminently kickable.

Yes yes. Eminence is the absolute bare minimum I strive for.

BTW, I am kicking jj's buttocks as we speak. They think they can beat me with an empty deck? Ha!

Well they are at 888. That makes them something.

@KitFox: Thank you.

2:05 PM
Well I'm spent and have nothing to add to their score. A pity!
I'll go grab me some pasketti.

Damn, so close and yet so far. Actually, that was a win. I miscounted. Good thing I double-checked. Booyah.

@Robusto have you tried Bridge of Destiny instead of Prism?

No, but lemme look it up.

No wait. I make no sense. It's only good for Righteous.
For Bloodthirsty you might as well use any other structure with Regen.

It's the cleanse that helps.
Most battles are either won or lost before that card gets played anyway.
It matters against Gatling spam or other jammers, as well as diseasers.

2:11 PM
It doesn't have to be useful, you'd only have a Regen structure as a last resort against Fear decks.

The Asylae's and Necrogeddon are what I normally try against fear decks.

I mean, I dunno, how many Ogres do you have in there? Nine? Do you need all of them?
Ah.
Asyla.
Well okay, so you do have walls.
Then just disregard everything.

I sometimes toy with the idea of putting in another Asylum.

I have no idea how to beat Necrogeddon.

But I've tried Warehouse instead of Prism and it ain't as good.
@RegDwightѬſ道 Strike/rush is hard on it. But against those decks I don't play it early.

2:14 PM
Strike/rush is what Vitaly plays, but I've been running Gorelesup for the last eternity or so.

Da Killah is a surprisingly balanced deck, but it's dynamically unstable.
Feb 15 at 15:01, by Robusto
@RegDwightѬſ道 I've been playing Da Killah. It is a scary deck to play, because a lot of the time you get to go/no-go decisions quickly, and you could win or lose big depending on the breaks.

I found LtW to be too unreliable precisely against Ogres. Because if Rifter or Sabre don't come out early, it's basically lost.

Unlike Gorelesup, it gives you a chance against fear spam.
@RegDwightѬſ道 Newer LtW decks are very dangerous.

Mine is a newer one. I keep it up to date.

I have a really hard time surging against this deck with Da Killah.

2:18 PM
The thing is, they are dangerous precisely because they are unpredictable, but that's only a blessing on passive. On active, certain orders are vastly preferred, and you never get those.

If I see LtW play Hunter first (which is what happens about 90% of the time), I just click Surrender. Nothing else I can do.

Hunter or Predator.

Yes.

I seem to get Predator 95% of the time.
But not on active!

Me too. And Hunter the other 90%.

2:20 PM
On active I only get the slow ass cards I have in there. Raksha, Iron Maiden.

I don't like IM in a strike/rush rainbow.

I don't like it on active. Want my EMP back. But on passive the stats are better.

Hmm ...

On active, IM basically steals a good slot for nothing, while EMP can be the most helpful card. On passive, it's exactly the other way round. When EMP is played first and the enemy is on Surge...
Anyway. EMP or not, LtW works fine on the new side missions I'm doing.

So does Da Killah.

2:26 PM
Now. My pasketti plan. Whatever happened to that one. BRB.

2:37 PM
Mmmmhhh. Delivious again, Peter.
But just to finish a thought.
My understanding is that with Da Killah, it is never wrong to play an Ogre first, while playing an Asylum gives the enemy a free turn, which is doubly dreadful on Surge.
With three Asylums, you will be forced to do just that way too often.

@RegDwightѬſ道 I don't use it as a def deck.

I am talking about offence.
If your first draw is three Ogres, no biggie. If it's three Asyla, you might be screwed.

Oh. Well, yeah. But the number of times I don't have an assault card in the first deal is vanishingly small.
My favorite draw is SO + Necro + Asylum. Very flexible.
If the situation warrants it, I like to play Necro first, then both Asylae's, then SO. That flenses a lot of very powerful slow-roll decks.
Also good is SO + Necro + Asylae's.
Against strike I pump out as many SO's as possible as fast as possible.
Against fear I sacrifice my Asylae's to buy time. Hopefully, Necro gets played early too.

@Robusto did you notice the name of the empty deck's owner?
Muerteveloz.
He used to be in our faction.

Haha.
Quick death.

2:44 PM
And got kicked for having an empty deck.

He is a trojan horse for factions.

Either that, or jj don't check their applicant's decks and just accept anyone above level 20.

Those things are not mutually exclusive.

I knew you would say that.

i no rite
Against walls I play as many SO's as possible first.
Even against hybrid walls, like wall + 3xUtopia Beacon.
I don't like to see a lot of Support Carriers. It comes down to chance too often with those contests.
@RegDwightѬſ道 BTW, I notice you say this often to mean "Yes, you're right."

2:49 PM
Nah, that's only because you are right so often.
Mere coincidence.

What were the odds? Seven? Eight?

Seven out of eight.

Bat out of hell.
Bastard Out of Carolina is a 1996 film made by Showtime Networks, directed by Anjelica Huston. It is based on a novel by Dorothy Allison and adapted for the screen by Anne Meredith. Jena Malone stars as a poor, physically abused and sexually molested girl. In 1997, the theatrical and video releases of the film were banned by Canada's Maritime Film Classification Board. The video was eventually granted release upon appeal. It won the Emmy Outstanding Casting for a Miniseries or a Special (Linda Lowy) and was nominated Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries or a Special (Anjelica Huston...

Anjelica Huston is a director now?

She directed that film. Ergo, she is a director.

2:53 PM
Spooky ooky.

She directed three films. That is three more than I have directed.
So, really, we're not that far apart.

Wow, Anjelica Huston's father is a director now as well? When will the madness stop? When?

@RegDwightѬſ道 What, you never heard of John Huston?

Hm. I can't ballpark him.

The Treasure of the Sierra Madre is a 1948 American film written and directed by John Huston, a feature film adaptation of B. Traven's 1927 novel of the same name, in which two Americans Fred C. Dobbs (Humphrey Bogart) and Bob Curtin (Tim Holt) during the 1920s in Mexico join with an old-timer, Howard (Walter Huston, the director's father), to prospect for gold. The old-timer accurately predicts trouble, but is willing to go anyway. The Treasure of the Sierra Madre was one of the first Hollywood films to be filmed almost entirely on location outside the United States (in the state of Du...

The screenplay was adapted by James Agee, John Huston, John Collier and Peter Viertel. It was photographed in Technicolor by Jack Cardiff and had a music score by Allan Gray. Which you probably still havent checked.

And he played a key role in Chinatown.

@Robusto That one I haven't seen for sure.
It's not a Western, after all.

Chinatown is a 1974 American neo-noir film, directed by Roman Polanski from a screenplay by Robert Towne and starring Jack Nicholson, Faye Dunaway and John Huston. The film features many elements of the film noir genre, particularly a multi-layered story that is part mystery and part psychological drama. It was released by Paramount Pictures. The story, set in Los Angeles in 1937, was inspired by the California Water Wars, the historical disputes over land and water rights that had raged in southern California during the 1910s and 1920s, in which William Mulholland acted on behalf of Los ...

That one rings a bell.

Clint Eastwood played John Huston directing The African Queen in the movie White Hunter Black Heart
White Hunter Black Heart is a 1990 American film, directed by and starring Clint Eastwood as John Wilson, based on the book by Peter Viertel. Viertel also co-wrote the script with James Bridges and Burt Kennedy. The film was based on several Golden Age of Hollywood movie producers. The main character is based on real-life director John Huston; at times, Eastwood can be heard drawing out his vowels, speaking in Huston's distinctive style. George Dzundza's character is based on African Queen producer Sam Spiegel. Plot The story centers on world-renowned film maker John Wilson (Eastwood), w...

But hey, for all I knew Anjelica was born to Jack Nicholson.

But when you look at Huston's sly, canny, evil bastard in Chinatown, Clint comes off as wooden by comparison.

That's his shtick, in a way.

Yes. That and barely suppressed anger.
But he has had his moments.

Hello.......

Hi!
How's the weekend up north?
It's been beautiful down here.

Someone please tell my son to nap ...
Yeah it's nice here too

glares as sternly as a unicorn can at Baby Shiny

I am holding him on my lap, and he's calm, but not napping. It's been 20 mins

Maybe not the sleepiest song though.

6:49 PM
We got out the BBQ yesterday because it was so nice
Screw it. Into the crib he goes. Maybe he'll sleep. At least he isn't crying.
So how are you today?

@MrShinyandNew安宇 Aww. If he's not crying then I'm sure he's ok! Maybe he's starting to grow out of needing a nap at this time.
I'm good! I'm procrastinating on doing anything useful for a few more minutes.
My better half is out of town and I kinda don't know what to do with myself.
Weird to be home alone for this long when I'm not used to it.
I went out and took lots of photos and such yesterday in the beautiful weather though. How about you?

user19161
7:24 PM
@aediaλ You may star in the next Home Alone.

user19161
Home Alone 1 and 2 are good. 3 is OK and 4 is not good.

user19161
I have lost track of the number of Nightmare on Elm Street movies.

7:45 PM
@WillHunting I don't think I've seen more than the first one, but that doesn't surprise me; I can't think of any series that got better in sequels...
