maximat home in the weekend! is this correct!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's an answer.
Have I mentioned yet that old questions should be auto-protected?

Haha wow.

I think I've had enough of this nonsense for today. Have fun, dooderinos.

Good night!
Fly softly!
And swiftly.

12:05 AM
Night all. Over and out.

Night.

Impending doom.

It should be 17.07 Pacific time now.
Oh, removed.

user19161
So secretive!

No secrets. Only mysteries.

12:08 AM
Poor Jasper.

user19161
@KitFox Extremely mysterious comment again.

Look who's talking!
You're quite the oracle yourself.

user19161
But this is way better than the math room which has as many removed messages as the gaming room has stars.

Cain and Abel are a pair of fictional characters in the DC Comics universe based on the Biblical Cain and Abel. They are key figures in DC's "Mystery" line of the late 1960s and 1970s, which became the mature-readers imprint, Vertigo, in 1993. Publication history Originally they were the respective "hosts" of the EC-style horror comic anthologies House of Mystery and House of Secrets, which ran from the 1950s through the early 1980s. During the 1970s, they also co-hosted (along with Eve), the horror/humor anthology Plop!. Cain the Able Care-Taker, created by Bob Haney, Jack Sparling,...

I guess what this room has is the most number of jinxes and QEDs.

This room contains everything. Including the known Universe.

Rob has started aping your QEDs. Are you sick of them yet?

user19161
@Cerberus Reg as well, and you too!

Only a few times.

user19161
I think the auto rep recalc is very good.

they didn't add my word :((
hmm, but they kind of made it up to me i guess:
> On our way to wrapping up the personal pronouns, the second-person makes its appearance in this release, in all of its forms. We have already edited the first-person pronouns, and the third-person ones are scheduled for future release: Second-person pronouns thee, thine, thou, thy, thyself; y’, ya, ye, yer, yez, yit, yo, you, you-all, your, yourn, yourself, yourselves, yous, yuh
but where's youse?
> More exotically still, we have yakisoba n., a Japanese dish of fried wheat-flour noodles, seeing enough clear usage as an English word to merit inclusion in the dictionary.
Just how is chenier not clearly used as an English word?!

12:27 AM
You mean the geological formation?

@Vitaly Awww.

@KitFox Yes. The ridge. I painstakingly documented the usage of chenier in the last half-century (my latest quotation was from a major academic reference published in 2008 and my earliest quotation was from an American geological survey with quite a few other quotations in between) and submitted it via the OED Submission Form. “They” is the OED staff.

Please accept my condolences.
Ignorant fools.

Who is they?
Fsckers. I'll face punch the next one I see.
Also, I will make sure it goes in the compendium of knowledge and wonderment once my eldest son rules the universe.

Thanks! I know you can make them feel soz! (Now that soz is a word in the OED anyway.)

user19161
12:32 AM
@Vitaly Wow you actually did that? I am very proud of you!

Damn sniggety.

@KitFox The OED folks.

user19161
You know now I am really wondering why the number of boots to the next fsck keeps changing. Maybe it depends on the time of each session or other factors.

@Cerberus Um, yeah. We got there about ten minutes ago.

12:36 AM
I can't believe they took that and not chenier.

user19161
@KitFox Well, why do you think the guys there made so many dictionaries without giving people the IPA for all the words?

Because nobody cares about pronouncing them.
We just wants to collect our precious words.
And look at them. And count them.

user19161
By the way I just learnt that some online dictionaries allow you not just to search but to browse. You can look at each entry successively listed.

> Pet names of this type show hypocoristic formations (apparently originally in Australian English) on personal names with /r/ at the end of the first syllable, probably originally representing the first syllable (e.g. Barr- (in Barry )) + -s suffix2. Compare J. Simpson ‘Hypocoristics in Australian English’ in K. Burridge & B. Kortmann Varieties of Eng. (2008) III. 402.
How common is hypocorism?

Not very.
But educated people would know it.

user19161
12:46 AM
I learnt the word hypocorism in my question, I show you.

Q: Changes in English names of people

Will HuntingWhy is Robert called Bob and John called Jack sometimes? What is the history of or reason for this practice in changing the English names of people?

user19161
My question above asks why Robusto is called Mahnax, @cerb.

user19161
I will now extend my equation, hold your breaths...

user19161
Will Hunting = Will Smith = Legend = Legendary = Robusto = Robert = Bob = Mahnax. QED.

user19161
So @mahnax, from the above equation you can understand why a duck is a python!

12:51 AM
= Matrix = Keanu Reeves = Christopher Reeves = Superman = Kal-El = Alien = Sigorney Weaver = F-ing hot. Q.E. to the motherf-cking D.

user19161
Over and out!

user19161
@KitFox lolz

And so on and so on and scooby-dooby-dooby.

> Would to Godder or ‘a civilian who “would to God that he could go to the war”’)

I would to God that I didn't have to do this stupid documentation.

1:08 AM
@KitFox Hey, I'm slow.

Holy crap.
You're awake?

:D

@WillHunting Haha, I see.
@KitFox Yes!

Is anybody here an expert in nuclear security, bio-security or disease control? Then please consider signing up to be a Singularity Institute advisor!

I'm sorry, but I am ternary.
I couldn't possibly stoop to singularity.
No offence.

1:12 AM
Oh, haha.

Hi.

Hi!
Oh, someone starred the cat traps.

It were we.
We likes the cat traps.

Oh, you does?

Funniest picture I have seen in a long while.

1:14 AM
I'm glad.

Oh, my!

Uhm.

Are you allowed to use such words?

I didn't mean to hit enter.

And yet you did.

1:15 AM
And I don't know why I typed it to begin with.
Well, it's gone now.
Goodness.
Maybe to make up for it, I'll say nice things.

Damn it! Did I miss swearing?

My, Cerberus! Your tail looks especially poofy today.

sniggers

Hello @Kit! You seem radiant.
And @Will! Genius, as always.

I'm feeling rather blue, but thanks.

1:17 AM
And @Vit, that's a nice, uh, tongue.

user19161
@mahnax What did you remove?

@WillHunting Nothing.

user19161
Everyone is cryptic now!

whistles, places hands in pockets

user19161
@Mahnax I think you probably said something like it was f***ing funny.

1:19 AM
@Cerberus Are you angry with me, Mr. Latin Teacher?

Huh, a new WMT version was released 7 hours ago?

Phobos side missions, looks like.
Ooh, and a new faction rank.

Ah hahahaha. Very funny Skyrim glitch just now.

user19161
I wonder what cornbread ninja likes.

user19161
Corn, ninja or bread.

1:21 AM
@KitFox Oh! My mom and dad have agreed to let me borrow Skyrim. They will then deliver a verdict.

Q: Word for someone who go on a specific direction

NoahWhat is the word for someone who follows specific instructions or do what he is told? And is there a word for the person who makes someone like this?

My husband walked out of a shop in Solitude and there was a dead dragon. He loots the dragon, and while he is absorbing its soul, a courier walks up and starts talking to him like nothing is going on. Then all of a sudden, the courier shouts "You...you just absorbed its soul!" and runs off.

user19161
I say NARQ above.

How is it a NARQ?

user19161
It lacks the details we need to give a proper answer.

user19161
1:26 AM
Such a person could be anything from a coward to a pedant.

user19161
And the other person could be anything from a tyrant to a pedant.

@Mahnax Sweet!

@KitFox Yeah! I get to try it on Saturday.

user19161
@Mahnax You may fast forward the clock.

@WillHunting Hmm?

user19161
1:32 AM
I like how brilliant always says WOW when I answer his question!

user19161
He not only says wow but makes sure it is all in caps.

user19161
@mahnax Now that you have reached 5k, it will feel slow, because you will be thinking of your rep in terms of multiples of 5k as there are milestones at 10k, 15k, 20k.

@WillHunting Haha, yep.

Speaking about Skyrim, I decided to try out Mass Effect 3, having never played the series before. After my first completion, I found out that I couldn't romance Ashley Williams because I hadn't bought an item in the shop at the very start of the game. Then I completed Mass Effect 3 a second time and was able to romance Ashley. And only then I read up on the previous games in the series only to find out that Ashley Williams is a Christian fundamentalist. FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUU…

Oh, that hurts me so.
LOL

1:38 AM
Well, I'm going to get Tim Hortons again.

user19161
These games sound so real...

Maybe I'll win the "Roll up the Rim" today.
Anyhow, bye!

Bye.

Maybe I should try Mass Effect 3.
I think I should play Fallout 3.

user19161
I just found out what Skyrim is.

1:42 AM
So many other things first, though.

I didn't like ME3. But then I could be biased because of the Ashley failure, so IDK.

My eldest just discovered Little Big Planet, which is part of my plan to get him interested in creating a world the way he wants it.
He told me he liked it, but it was hard. I reminded him that bending an entire populace to his will was not going to be easy, but with some practice, I was sure he would master it.

user19161
Wow you want to take over the world!

And you don't even have much of a romance choice in ME3 if you play a male Shepard. The only other romanceable human (Samantha Traynor) is a lesbian and only available as an option if you play a female Shepard. Unless you've played the series before and have a save or something. Or you could romance the blue alien if you play a male Shepard.

But don't worry, we followed it up with some Spiderman, and I made sure that I emphasized the great power/great responsibility thing.

1:46 AM
^ Ashley Williams

@Vitaly That is so confusing.
@Vitaly That is just unfair. Can you replace her brain?

user19161
@Vitaly Not my type.

@KitFox You are the neuroscientist, you tell me.

Hmm.
makes notes
It's probably easier to just enhance an existing body that already contains an intelligent brain.
Maybe use her skin.
She's not built correctly though. Her arms are too muscular to fit in those sleeves. Plus, they would limit her movements excessively.
So is romance integral to the story?

@KitFox Absolutely not.
It's more of a shooter (at least if you haven't played the series before, it seems). I tried to choose different dialogue options and there wasn't much of a difference.
The ads about being able to choose your own plot were what made me try out the game. Looks like they were misleading.

1:57 AM
Yeah, reading about it just now, apparently there were a lot of options in Mass Effect 2, and not really so much in 3.

The romance cinematics totals to about… um… 10 minutes out of roughly 10 hours of ME3.

@Vitaly I liked Resident Evil 2 for that reason (the plot choices).
@Vitaly Are they hot?

@KitFox How would I know? gravatar.com/avatar/…

Also, Resident Evil was the prettiest game I'd seen up to that point.
@Vitaly Sorry, sometimes I forget that you aren't human. Or a native English speaker.
Actually, it was Resident Evil. I can't remember if I played Resident Evil 2 or not.
The GameCube remake. Holy crap, that required a lot more clarification than necessary.

:D

2:06 AM
zombies, zombie wolves, zombie snakes, zombie sharks, zombie BEES, zombie PLANTS! How can you not love that?
Anyway, it's me for bed. See you tomorrow, eh?

Night.
And a new HP:MoR chapter is about to appear in the next few minutes.

What? Really?
fidgets
I didn't get any sleep last night because I was reading chapter 78.
Of course, I had to back up a little to remember where I was.
And also, a funny part caught my eye.

@Vitaly Gonna get that this weekend. Femshep was the better voice talent in ME2, so I'll probably go that way this time. I actually restarted ME2 halfway trough because the dude who played Broshep was such a stick.

Well, it says “The next update will occur on Thursday, March 15th at 7PM Pacific Time.”
Unless my brain's still messed up, it should be 7:10PM Pacific Time now
@Robusto female Shepards look hideous >_>

@Vitaly Why I use the eyes-out POV.

2:13 AM
@Robusto is that possible???
SERIOUSLY?

IIRC.

It's there! It's there! Chapter 79!

Not understanding your consternation.

@Robusto I couldn't find such an option in ME3. And gaming.SE says that it's a third-person-view game IIRC.

@Mahnax Thanks, so do you! And, no, why should I be? I have nothing against swear words like that.

2:17 AM
@Vitaly Meh, could be. Been a year or more since I played ME2. But I kind of remember eyes-out POV. Or maybe I've played too much Skyrim and Fallout3 since then.

@Vitaly Trust me, it will feel just the same way.

@Cerberus what will?

Romancing this girl.

@Vitaly Hahahaha. Did you get a little religion on your stinger, big guy?

Eww. Language.

2:21 AM
Haha.

Learn2subtlety.

@Cerberus Would it be better if I said "bowel movement"?

^ My Shepard spent so much time cuddling Ashley in the hospital. What a waste. I should have known she was a religious nut.

@Vitaly Hey, praise Jesus and tap that ass. Then buy her a Left Behind novel and, well, leave her behind. In both senses.
Left Behind is a series of 16 best-selling novels by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins, dealing with Christian dispensationalist End Times: pretribulation, premillennial, Christian eschatological viewpoint of the end of the world. The primary conflict of the series is the members of the Tribulation Force against the Global Community and its leader Nicolae Carpathia—the Antichrist. Left Behind is also the title of the first book in the series. The series was first published 1995-2007 by Tyndale House, a firm with a history of interest in dispensationalism. The series has been adapted into ...

Hahaha.

2:26 AM
@Robusto Equally offensive.
Perhaps more so.

@Cerberus BM?

Eww.

@Cerberus Trip to the ladies' room?

Better.

Suddenly I want to change my screen name to Nicolae Carpathia.
Speaking of great devils. ^

2:37 AM
Hello.

Ohai.

How's things?

Things is things. Parts is parts.

Jim
Woohoo!! 14000 questions!

2:41 AM
Nah, not the greatest. I'll take Jack as the devil any day. Or Al Pacino, for that matter.

I'm not agreeing with the greatest part, but it's still good.

@Robusto Hmm, whazzat?

First part of Al Pacino's final speech as Satan in The Devil's Advocate.

Hm.
Never seen it.

2:47 AM
Fun film.

Looks like it.

user19161
I have not watched Schindler's List. It's on many top movies lists though.

@WillHunting Ohh, such a good movie.

user19161
@Mahnax So I should watch it though it's black and white?

@WillHunting It is that way on purpose.

user19161
2:52 AM
@Mahnax I actually don't understand why movies are black and white. I know the reasons sort of, but still they aren't valid to me.

@WillHunting That is no good reason to avoid one of the best movies I have ever seen.

user19161
@Mahnax And you should watch Good Will Hunting too!

@WillHunting I may get around to it.

Me, I don't watch silent films, especially when they're not silent.
Black & white is fine, though.

I don't watch many movies.

2:54 AM
I watch loads. Kind of an addict, actually.

user19161
@Robusto Oh are there silent films? That rings a bell. I think there are.

@WillHunting Uh, durr. A silent film won the Best Picture Oscar this year.

@Robusto Which?

user19161
I did watch The Man Without An Identity or something like that.

user19161
It was black and white and there was a BJ in it I think.

2:56 AM
The Artist is a 2011 French romantic comedy drama in the style of a black-and-white silent film directed by Michel Hazanavicius, starring Jean Dujardin and Bérénice Bejo. The story takes place in Hollywood, between 1927 and 1932, and focuses on the relationship of an older silent film star and a rising young actress, as silent cinema falls out of fashion and is replaced by the talkies. The Artist received near-universal acclaim from critics and won many accolades. Dujardin won the Best Actor Award at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, where the film premiered. The film was nominated for six...
And I'm still not going to see that nasty mo-fo.

Ew, rom-com.
A silent film about silent films?
Ridiculous.

user19161
Pi was terrible. I watched 5 min of it and stopped.

Yeah. Why don't we have the Grand Prix with chariots next?

user19161
Sometimes I feel these artistic films win awards just because they are of that flavour but not because they are really good, whatever that means.
