Question for the candidates, what's wrong with this picture? interpersonal.meta.stackexchange.com/questions/3583/…
Current mods, no cheating.
@Ælis @avazula
@Rainbacon @NVZ
@ElizB

@apaul There's a question about site policy, which was asked by a mod, answered by the same mod, the answer was accepted, and the post subsequently locked by the same mod. That's a pretty bad look for the site. I understand the history of the post that led to the lock, but we link new users to that post a lot, and they aren't going to know all of that history.

If I'm a new user coming in and I see that post, my thought is going to be that this site is run like a dictatorship where the mods decide what the policy is and silence any discussion that goes against their personal ideas for how the site should work.
2
In addition, that post has been a perpetually "featured" post on the site for the last few months
2
It's a high visibility post which could be interpreted very poorly

@apaul I know it won't send very original but I agree with Rainbacon
The downside of having a featured post on the main page, where only one name appears and no edit or comments are possible, it doesn't sound like a community partnership
It may be quite useful for us to link to that post when we flag/VTD posts that need back up but I can see how it must look weird for someone who hasn't been around (and especially on meta/in chat) and doesn't know about the history behind the post

@apaul I understand how this might look bad (since I agree with avazula and Rainbacon) however, I do fully agree with the decisions that were taken here since I am relatively aware of the full story.

@Rainbacon I knew I voted for you for a reason.

@apaul Thank you, that's quite nice of you to say.

@apaul I concur with Rainbacon's take on it. It kinda does look not good when it's locked.

@apaul Sorry, just got notified and I'm puzzled why I wasn't notified of that ping. Anyway, again not so original but I agree with Avazula and Rainbacon. I also want to add that the *manner* in which the answer is written is more so like a lecture for a child that has repeatedly made mistakes, rather than new users that simply didn't realize that they needed to improve. I don't think a new user would receive it well if they're using the site for the first time and they're insecure themselves.
it's a delicate balance to try and achieve. This is close to it but not quite.

@apaul If I could edit the post, I would begin with the history of why and how the "back it up" policy was formed, so people would understand how it came to be and why we're enforcing it more now.

@ElizB If you think that would be a good idea, maybe you could post this in a meta suggestion to see what the community think about it?

That's not a bad idea thanks @Ælis :)

There, posted that discussion. :)
@apaul thanks for bringing up the great question and spurring us on to keep doing our best, and thanks @Ælis for just a little encouragement. that helped :)

Thanks @ElizB for actually proposing an improvement!

Just to clear up any confusion, the post was indeed locked for the reasons stated in the lock text and Tinkeringbell's comment: It's a FAQ post explaining our established policy, not a suggestion or discussion of whether or not that policy should exist, which is how the now-deleted comments were treating it. While Tinkeringbell's name is on the lock, this was the solution that other mods in the TL (chatroom for all SE mods) suggested when I asked. (And for further disclosure, this is the first I've seen anyone raise an issue with it sinc
