@mattwilkie I've been around since just before AML was first released, and have supported people using ARC/INFO and ArcGIS formally and informally since a couple of years after that. My personal policy, for all but my first few years of writing products and applications on those foundations, has been to try and only customize when strictly necessary and to get code/concepts moved back into the core products whenever possible.
