Q: The mystery of disappearing points

Igor RivinOn the one hand, I earned around 100-some points in the last day, on the other hand, my total increased by something like 10. Is there some bug?

Just FYI, if you go to your user page, you should see a tab that says 'reputation' which will show a history of reputation changes; that's how I found the post. As for the post: it was first closed as being off-topic (it asked a non-mathematical question, on how to get an article of the OP published or on the arXiv). Probably nothing would more have happened, except that the OP basically obliterated the original question and replaced it with an announcement that the article is now on the arXiv; I expect it would not have been deleted if it weren't for the apparent self-promotion. — Todd Trimble ♦ 7 hours ago
@ToddTrimble You are probably aware of this, but you saw this because you are a moderator. Meta: Allow moderators to show removed posts in the reputation tab of other users profiles.
If you try viewing this users' reputation tab when not logged in, you should not see the removed post.
Regular users do not see this on other user's reputation tab.
But they can see their own reputation based on removed posts. (IIRC they need the privilege to view deleted questions to get also a link.) But only if they check the corresponding checkbox.
IIRC if you check the checkbox "show removed posts" on your reputation tab, you should see there also negative reputation changes with links to the posts that cause them. See also: Where reputation disappears and Mysterious one point rep increase. — Martin Sleziak 12 mins ago

@MartinSleziak I wasn't aware of all the minutiae, so thanks. Especially for the part about having to check that box.

@ToddTrimble Perhaps now the comments contain already enough information so that it would be possible to make an answer out of them - if you are willing to post an answer. (You're just 3 non-CW answers shy of bronze support badge, so maybe you could get a bit closer with this one.)
