@DominicvanderZypen I wasn't sure where and how to ping you - obviously, I cannot add a comment to a deleted question. I tried chat - I have sent you an invite to this room, hopefully you got some kind of notification.
I would say that it is reasonable to keep your question on meta rather than delete it - even if there are older similar questions.
It is about bug which exists for a long time and wasn't addressed - so I think it's good if it's reminded again.
Moreover, to me your bug report seems a bit clearer than the ones I linked in the comment.
Sorry if my comment sound as something dismissing your question (or bug report) completely.
Naturally, the decision whether to keep this deleted or whether to undelete the question is up to you - since it is your question.

As I mentioned in chat, this problem seems to be here for a long time, so a new bug report might be useful - as a reminder; despite the fact that there are similar older posts. In the meantime I found also this post on Meta Stack Exchange: MathJax escape sequences don't work. The poster of that question says that for them everything worked find in Edge - for me, the bug manifests both in Google Chrome and in Microsoft Edge. — Martin Sleziak 29 secs ago
