Good questions can be important and useful. I still maintain that the act of asking interesting questions is cheaper than the work of providing decent answers and indeed there are questions asked on MO which do not actually display sufficient thought or depth — Yemon Choi 9 hours ago
Well, there are some guidelines on what the questions should look like here: How to write a good MathOverflow question?
However, there are many questions where this is ignored and it seems that often MO does not enforce its own standards on questions.
To some extends, this related to differences between MO and math.SE and missing context as a reason for closure.

@GHfromMO I do not see for what the tag (spam) is useful for. I think it suffices to simply flag the post, see also here: What should I do when I see a spam post on MO?Martin Sleziak 9 secs ago
As I have mentioned before, this is not the first time the tag was created.
I have created this post partially because sometimes I have seen users reacting to spam in an unusual way (or at least differently from the recommendations in the FAQ). To name just one example, a tag called (spam) was created a few times in the past. See also recent conversation in chat related to spam. — Martin Sleziak Jun 12 at 16:41

I have posted the link here basically just to show that the post indeed had the spam tag - unfortunately the preview also shows the spam link. That was not really my intention.
@ToddTrimble or @Catija Would you perhaps be willing to delete the oneboxed message above. Thanks! (And sorry for the inconvenience.)

Thanks!

@MartinSleziak: This is a comment unrelated to your answer. The tag "spam" is useful so that people can see it is spam without reading the post. I flagged that question for spam, actually. Please respond that you read this, and then I will delete this comment. — GH from MO 59 secs ago
@GHfromMO I've seen your comment. We can discuss this further in chat if needed. — Martin Sleziak 17 secs ago
The only discussion of separate tag for spam that I found is here: Tagging spam / offensive questions.

Q: Tagging spam / offensive questions

Andreas_DDo we have recommended tags for obvious spam or offensive questions, like this one? For now I retagged it to [spam] just to get it out of the [java] view, but then I saw, that the [spam] tag is used for serious questions concerning spam too. Removing all tags is not possible so even spam messag...

> @MartinSleziak: Thanks, I think no discussion is needed. I will delete my comment now, you can do the same.
(The comment has been already deleted.)
Perhaps there are not such big drawbacks to creating such tag on main. (Of course, the tag will be deleted during the next 24 hours unless it is used on some post that acutally isn't spam.)
Or maybe I should say that drawbacks are only minor.
Still, it would be nice if enough people around here cared about site maintenance a bit - including flagging spam posts. Then spam would probably be removed faster than the time needed for creating a new tag.

Now I found that this tag was also mentioned on tea in: Tag merge/rename requests
> [spam] - merge with [tag-removed]?
> Okay, if I don't hear otherwise, I will make the following merges: [spam] - merge with [tag-removed]?
The latter post was by a moderator, but if it was really merged, then probably without synonym.
