room topic changed to The Crusade of Answers: Our menace: the Unanswered queue. Our goal: total annihilation! (no tags)
For some background on, and some proposed content of this room, see here.

In the comments to that answer, user79365 gives some nice queries that may come to your aid.

Both unanswered tab and clicking on unanswered in questions tab show me the unanswered questions ordered by upvotes.
How can I view the unanswered questions in such way, that the most recent ones are shown first?

@MartinSleziak The Unanswered tab does have a "newest" sub-tab.

Thanks
Indeed, there is newest "sub-tab", I shoulid have noticed it....

@MartinSleziak If you then go for, say, page 1XX, 2XX or 3XX, there's plenty of unexplored territory. :)

Yes. I think I thought something in some meta discussion. Maybe in that question about browsing habits someone mentioned that this is the way he is using MSE. (So that he finds interesting questions to answer.)

7:08 AM
I often use is:question answers:0 closed:no if I want to peruse unanswered questions (because I can then order them by "newest", which isn't an option for the Unanswered tab): math.stackexchange.com/…

Often one wishes to focus on unanswered questions in one's area of expertise (favorite tags). The Unanswered tab has "my tags" sub-tab, but it only sorts by votes. But there is a way to get recent unanswered questions in your favorite tags: a filter
@Lord_Farin You don't need to include is:question, because the presence of answers:0 already makes it a query for questions. (Answers do not have an AnswerCount value).

@user79365 Have you ever tried is:answer hasaccepted:no?
Hence I've developed a "better safe than sorry" habit for searching.

@Lord_Farin Interesting, a self-contradictory search query. hasaccepted:no by itself selects questions only. Apparently, the answers attribute is ignored, or probably overwritten by the code that converts your search command into an SQL query.
Here is a group theory question, seemingly answered in comments: On groups whose center has index 6. I don't know enough group theory to flesh out an answer. :(

A CW answer from me from yesterday, as of yet without upvotes: here.

This may be useful: Possibly, an answer in comments. The query finds questions without answers with a comment that has the word "answer".

7:22 AM
@Lord_Farin great thing :) When will people learn that Answer you own question actually gives you a better possibility to ask wheter a proof is correct

It shows the comment text itself, so that you can see if it's a "post as an answer" comment that went unheeded, or something else.
Hm, I already see a problem with posting links to specific questions: how to mark those that were already taken care of? Old chat messages can't be removed, right?

When old means older than 2 minutes you are right
they could be starred but that is to easy to manipulate

This may work better: Newest unupvoted CW answers.
Because when upvoted, answers will drop out of the results of this search.

An answer comment on a question, request to promote neglected: #64634.

@Lord_Farin #93275 now has an upvoted answer. (Posting as a reply so that the messages get linked: hovering over L_F's message highlights this answer).

What about a suggestion for a new tab/review queue? The new tab would be something like "confirmed unanswered questions". And the review would be like the community wiki bumping up: Every now and then (if the queue is later reduced maybe every two weeks) it would bump a question to that review queue and ask the reviewer whether this question already has an answer in the comments or should be closed, or if it is really unanswered and should be sent to the "confirmed unanswered" tab.

@JulianKuelshammer Hmm... That sounds good. Some more thought is needed on the details, of course. But it could work, I think.

@Lord_Farin Just a quick first thought of mine that I wanted to share. Of course there is room for improvement. Probably starting a meta post on that then later.

Anything that gets it to the minds of the community members that 24k unanswered on 145k questions is worth improvement will be an asset.
Answer requested from comment answerer: #121406

@Lord_Farin Answer to #64634 posted.
By my count, Mathematics ranks #89 out of 105 SE sites by the percentage of answered questions. Shame on us. :)

New query: Commented but not answered, closed or downvoted finds the questions with many comments but no resolution. Many of them need just a little push to leave the Unanswered territory.

Q: New "tab" and "review queue" for unanswered questions

Julian KuelshammerThis is a suggestion for attacking the problem of too many unanswered questions, which in many cases are not really unanswered. This problem was already raised by Lord_Farin (and also by Amzoti). My suggestion is two-fold: Having a new tab confirmed unanswered questions which includes questions...

@Julian Nice.

I think it is still possible to reply to yourself or did they tweak the software?
@MartinSleziak Let's try it.
A bit cumbersome, though.
@Lord_Farin That question has a duplicate. But I do not know whether it should be closed - now with Did's answer it can be considered a different question.
(I've commented on the question and left there a link to the duplicate.)

@Lord_Farin I think it is safe to say that the request wasn't adhered to. Hence:
Call for CW answer on #80501.
