@fuzzyTew I don't guarantee when you'll be able to stop by or when I'll be available, but this is probably the better place for discussing it, so it doesn't clutter up posts. :)
Also, I'd like to express appreciation to you for reaching out in a healthy way to try to figure out why the suggested edit was rejected.
Welcome, @fuzzyTew!
Okay, so I will explain my reasoning when I was reviewing that suggested edit as best as I can...
When I saw the suggested edit, I saw a relatively large volume of added information to the answer. It was good information, useful, and relevant to the post. If you had spoken with the poster of the answer and they were in favor of you adding it to their post, it would have been fine and great.
wow, thanks, I didn't know stackexchange had a chat ...
@fuzzyTew Yeah, can be useful sometimes. :)
Notwithstanding, there was so much extra information added that my personal recommendation would be to post it as a new answer, since otherwise it's basically putting your work under the name of another user.
While doing that is fine if both users agree on it, for me to sanction an edit which adds to the original intent of the answer poster without their consent goes beyond my right.
Consequently, when I see edits which show that much new information, I try to encourage users to post a new answer. On the positive side, it also allows you to gain reputation on the site.
y'know, when I posted it, once I saw how long it was, I really thought it could have been better as a separate answer, but since it was Paul who originally came up with the idea I wanted to support him too.
When I saw the second review mature posted, I visited mature's page and saw he has done this before with your edit reviews. I felt kind of distressed around a need for fairness and honest discourse in contribution to the site. Are you able to tell me if you control that account?
@fuzzyTew Yeah... I definitely get what you're saying. Probably the best way to support him is upvoting his answer. There's also definitely also nothing wrong with posting an answer saying, "Adding to what @Paul has said..." Provided that your answer really contains information that answers the question posed.
@fuzzyTew Nope, we're two totally different people. I noticed the same thing though; it's just because we both happened to be on top of the suggested edit review queues around the same time and feel similarly about these kind of edits.
A quick glance at his profile page shows were on different continents even. :)
Furthermore, using two accounts to increase individual power on any given sight is totally against the rules. I hope as a moderator on the network I would have the decency to follow well-known site rules. :)
But seriously, I would encourage you to post the information you put in the suggested edit in an answer. I would upvote it provided it was put in answer form and not kind of a "comment in an answer box".

Give mature's post was a copy-paste of mine, I'm still feeling kind of lost with regard to fairness of the review. I kind of want the same respect on stackexchange as I try to give others. Does being a moderator give you any power to figure out what's up with mature's account?
Wait, what?
Mature's post was a copy-paste of yours? What post?
Sorry, tongue-twisted. "Given mature's post was a copy-paste of yours"
Or are you referring to the "This edit was intended to address the author of the post and makes no sense as an edit. It should have been written as a comment or an answer."
Oh, gotcha.
Yeah, that has to do with the way the suggested review queue works. When we reject a review, we're given five or six canned options that we have to choose between. It's unfortunate, but that's why we both have exactly the same reject reason.
I'll see if I can find a screenshot of what it looks like.
oh my god, it makes so much sense =)
Well... you have to live with what you have.
Here's an old one; it's been upgraded since this, but it gives you an idea:

thanks anonymous2 ... I really thought you and mature were ganging up on me, but now I feel pretty foolish. I'm always seeing attempts to harm where there are really attempts to care. I'll repost my information as a separate answer.
Ah, here's a better one:
^ That's pretty representative of what we get to work with. While we can technically put in a custom reason - and I'm frankly surprised I didn't in this case (I apologize), usually reviewers just leave one of the canned reasons as they are what's recommended by SE.
@fuzzyTew Ah... not a problem. It's better to ask and know for next time than to be forever wondering. :) And seriously, like I said above, thanks for reaching out in a mature, healthy way to try to understand. Such an attitude is rarer than I like to admit.
thanks anonymous2 ... do you mind if I delete the comment I made on your answer? i'm asking because it would leave your reply out of context
Yep, do so; I'm removing mine and I'll freeze the room.
I'm headed for supper now, so till next time! :) I'll stop by to check out your answer probably this evening, but if not, tomorrow morning.
anonymous2 has frozen this room.
